I think there are aspects of Light that can't be pathologized or blamed on the Death Note's influence. I believe he's always had the mean streak on account of being a privileged child of a cop, and he treats women poorly not unlike the typical Millennial misogynist. I think the Death Note merely fueled Light's more abusive tendencies, but I also think he was capable of such violence by sheer virtue of being undiagnosed and enabled for so long 😂

This story is fast approaching its end. It's just one of my favorite things about Death Note, this funny -ism that Shinigami might be sexy rockstars hiding underneath their monstrous forms. I do hope Ohba and Obata will pull the trigger on it one day. Death Note 2030 sequel-sequel-sequel set in the Shinigami Realm, here we come!

I've long thought Bart and Kon as Hades and Persephone parallels with the way the two characters have evolved over the last thirty years, both together and separately.

But it was only recently that I started to see Pre-Crisis KaraDox as a derivation of Odysseus and Penelope (shoutout to the tunglr user who put the thought in my head). Because if she really ever came back, I really do think he would be waiting for her at the end of her resurrection. That's the kind of love they had goin on in those old comics, and I'll never get over them lol. People who will find each other in every Hell, yippee!
