After fussing with Sai for a while I decided to get back into touch with Photoshop with a Pearl headshot. Given the most recent episode, it seemed appropriate. Though not my favorite SU character, she’s definitely up there. :)

My Punk Ass Bitch of a Roomie
I find it to be poor taste to rant on facebook, so I will do it here, where I can be relatively anonymous.
So my roommate, right? (Well, I actually have three, but only one is a punk ass little bitch of a human being. You know what? Let’s call him PAB for short.)
Anyway, PAB has been living with me and my SO for about two years now (the fourth roommate has been around for about three months -- he’s cool).
At the start it was fine. We had minor problems, like PAB using our toothpaste or drinking the last of the milk without asking permission. You know, small stuff. Shit that doesn’t *really* matter in the grand scheme of things. But for the last year or so, he’s really gone downhill. Part of me is sympathetic, because I know he lost a friend to a heroin overdose. That said... he’s been a real piece of shit to everyone else in the house. He hasn’t paid rent since... I think last year? That sounds about right. He owes over $1,500 at this point.
Yet that isn’t the worst part. Oh no. See, if he was actually sincerely apologetic and making good faith efforts to fix the situation that would be one thing. Considering PAB, I think you can safely assume that hasn’t been the case.
At first, it was only vaguely annoying. He’d be a little late but eventually get us the money. Then the stretches of lateness got longer and longer until, well, he stopped paying altogether. He keeps promising “Oh next Friday, oh next Friday” but then never delivers. And he freaking ghosts us on it. Friday rolls around and he just fucking gone and won’t resurface until Monday or Tuesday. AND THEN THE CYCLE CONTINUES.
To add insult to injury, he has this lady friend right? She’s a walking cancer of a human being. She has, by his own admission: lied, cheated, manipulated, taken money, and is a heroin user. Oh and accused him of rape. Yet he “loves” her. “It’s so real this time, man.” Ugh. She fucking plays him and her ex-boyfriend/baby daddy against each other in order to get shit from them. I’m fairly certain she’s a large part of why he started struggling financially, began binge drinking again and, my personal “favorite” got into coke again.
Yet WE are the bad guys when we tell him she isn’t welcome in our home. We’re the ones who are disrespectful, because he’s a “grown ass adult who can have whoever he wants over.” Uh, no? We all live here bruh -- we get equal votes. And three out of four roommates agree that Walking Cancer Human isn’t welcome. Furthermore, everyone but PAB is on the lease. AND EVERYONE BUT PAB HAS PAID RENT.
He has some fucking nerve.
It’s not just that and the rent either. He bitches and moans about not having any say in what happens in the house but we’ve invited him multiple times to our near-weekly roommate meetings to discuss the house and rules and shit. He *always* bails, even though we specifically plan them to suit his schedule. What he’s really upset about is that he tried to claim an entire floor of the house and we were like uh, no? The common areas are for everyone. You can’t just “claim” them and do whatever you want with them.
He also is still using our shit without permission too. Ooh, and how could I forget to mention that he goes into peoples’ rooms (without permission) an goes through their stuff.
OH OH, and he smokes indoors and lies about it (even though we’ve all caught him multiple times in the lie).
OH, and drinks all our beer but then pretends he has no idea where it went.
Mmm, bitches about “messes” being left out over night but never cleans up after himself. Oh, and expects other people to clean up his “areas” such as his bathroom.
Never throws down on household supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, or hand soap but bitches if we start to run low.
Straight up admitted that he “doesn’t even care about paying us back quickly because [we] disrespected him.”
Now he’s “throwing shade” or whatever it’s called about “true friends” and junk like that on Facebook.
At this point, we all are done with him. While we all agree he needs to GTFO, we’re having trouble deciding on which way to do it. We are trying to decide if we should just chuck him out or evict him “properly” with seven days notice. My SO and I feel like we should just change the locks and be done with it. PAB can pick up his shit on our schedule or it’ll go in the trash. Unfortunately, the fourth roomie is resistant. He wants to be semi-merciful and do it with the eviction. I really think it’s a bad idea. I would 100% not be surprised if PAB stole some of our shit on his way out. I think it is a terrible idea to allow him to stay in the house unattended. He already goes through our stuff and takes/uses things without permission. What’s to stop him from just straight up walking out with a TV or something? *huffs* So now I’m trying to figure out how I can get to the hardware store. Fourth may feel safe(ish) but I am going put locks on my bedroom and office doors. This is some bullshit guys. EDIT: Rent/Utilities are, tops, about $400 PAB was working 40hrs/week making at least $11.50/hr, with semi-regular overtime PAB now has a second (part-time) job that Fourth got him with the idea that it would be easier to get out of debt PAB blames his child support as the reason he can’t pay us back. However, we figured out that even WITH the child support and the cost of his cell phone (along with rent/utilities/travel), he would still be saving at least ~$700/mo.
Some days, I'm super productive and get all the things done. Other days, I go out to Aldi's, buy a bunch of chips and cheese dip, and vegetate like the potato I am.
Feet are the bane of my existence. Currently working on men’s shoes. hrgheghgh
I adore Gravity Falls, especially Bill. Drawing this was a nice break from things. :)

This guy again. I thought I’d go ahead and try making a reference sheet. I’ve always wanted to, I use Kevin to RP on Gaia, and I wanted to practice more. The only problem? Feet. Big old flappy feet. Lately I’ve been choosing an area to study and work on it. Now it has to be feet.
Another fun fact about Kevin (promise, this one will be more fun since the old one was a downer). One reason he got into magical research, and magic circle in particular, was because he was very lazy. As a teenager, he hated being saddled with washing the dishes, de-leafing the gutters, and so on. Given his interest in magic, it seemed natural (to him) to try to come up with “quality of life” circles and then enchant objects to do those tasks for you. Unfortunately, in the world he lives in, that’s not really a -thing- per say. Certainly there are rings that let you breathe underwater or turn you invisible. But a spell to magic a broom to sweep the floor is far harder. It boils down to a power-to-control ratio. Kevin has tried the broom example himself but it just ends up causing miniature tornadoes, exploding, summoning rats (he’s not even sure HOW on this one), or plain old not working. His current theory is that new runes are needed. Or maybe really ancient ones that have long since been forgotten. Therefore, he’s begun adventuring, scouring the land for information. All to achieve his dream of never having to clean again.
Kevin update~
Kevin stands at about 5'6" and is.. well, he isn't terribly pretty for an Elf. Heck even his ears aren't that pointy. When he was a child, his parents had him tested to make sure he really was an elf. Stressful on his mother because she was accused of cheating and heartbreaking for Kevin because his father treated him as an outsider. Well, at least until the results came in. He was indeed a 100% purebred elf and definitely the spawn of his mother -and- father. To this day he can still recall the look of relief on his mother's face... and disbelief on his father's. As a result, he has a little bit of a complex about his looks. He's wrestled with it for years and has it mostly under control but sometimes there are flare ups.
Another OC, a wizard elf, Kevin Saelac. His passion is magical research -- an endeavor he funds via selling magic items. When he isn’t manning his shop/laboratory, he travels around local ruins, studying them. Not much one for fighting, he prefers to hire warriors for protection and then, if need be, supports them from the rear. The name Kevin thoroughly embarrasses him. Why his parents couldn’t name him something sensible, like Riku or Doombringer, is completely beyond him. (In truth, he knows why, it’s a family name, they wanted him to take after his uncle, Kevin the Wildhearted.)
An original character I came up with for Steven Universe, Abalone Pearl. According to this book I have on gems, Abalones were believed to promote mental stability and protect the users well-being. In my headcanon, Abalones are a type of gem dedicated to maintaining the "fragile" well-being (mental and physical) of other pearls. Companions, protectors, and therapist, all wrapped up into one non-intimidating package. They aren't really expected to engage in combat -- unless it's simply to buy time for the real soldiers to get there. Instead, Abalones will work to get other pearls and non-combatants out of harms way. A rescue squad, as it were. They aren't really seen too often, since they really are only kept with pearls who are freshly made. Abalones themselves aren't given away, primarily due to their tendency to be multicolored. Acceptable for behind-the-scenes workers, not so much for court members.
Status update on Sylniva. I’ve already started laying down shadows and junk but I wanted to show the flat colors off. I decided to get rid of the undershirt. When I colored it, I felt like it looked a bit derpy. Once I get the cel shading done, I’m going to try to paint it in Sai. This always is where things tend to go a bit... bad for me. I’ve seen what people can do with Sai, so I know pictures can turn out super amazeballs. But I just haven’t practiced enough with it to really get it down. Some day though... some day...

Since I’m opening up a commission shop, I wanted to start putting together a portfolio of sorts. And so... meet a D&D character of mine, Sylniva. My DM made a race that was basically Viera from Final Fantasy (at least so far as looks are concerned). Though her class is a swordsage, Sylniva is involved in a fair bit of politicking, so I opted to draw her in semi-formal attire.
Edit: Riding the struggle bus here... not sure why the lines look crisp on posting view but a bit blurry on my feed. :|
I'ma gettin' my doodle on. Poor Charles, I don't think I have a single finished picture of him. Going to have to rework his one arm though. The burnt one isn't as strong as the other.
A picture of me and my FC mates on FFXIV, based on the 2014 Eorzea Pride Day. Not done yet, but coming along nicely. :>
I did a thing! His name is Charles.

I work at a grocery store and I see a lot of people from a lot of walks of life. Most people I come across are fairly nice. Sometimes strange, sometimes the nicest people in the world. But then there are The Others. To avoid being one of "The Others," I've put together a nice pro-tip guide to being a shopper. 1: It doesn't matter if you got the exact item at a different store for less. You're not at that store, don't expect those prices.
2: If you act like an ass and curse out an employee who is just trying to do their job, you're going to have a bad time. In fact, you may even be asked to leave the store. What you won't get is a price reduction.
3: If you don't have your receipt, chances are we cannot provide a refund nor can we provide store credit.
4: Chances are the employees you interact with have little to zero control over pricing. So no, we still can't (for the hundredth time) mark down the price.
5: Seriously, we can't mark the damn thing down, stop asking.
6: Children must have a guardian with them when they sample food. No, this isn't an attempt to stop "wasting" food on kids. This is a safety concern, specifically, a food allergy concern. Kids don't always know better and the employee isn't psychic.
7: Customers at the deli: if you want something sliced so thin that you can practically see through it, that is not a slice. That is a shaving. If you want something shaved, please say so. It saves everyone a lot of time and energy. If we know to slice it really thin the first time, we don't have to keep bringing up sample after sample trying to get it just right. However, it's fine if you do want it shaved. Go for it bruh.
8: Speak loudly and clearly. If we can't understand you, we can't provide good customer service. Speaking for myself, I always to provide the best help that I can. But if I can't understand or hear you, it's nothing personal. If I ask you to talk louder, it's not an insult. It's a plea so that I can actually help you.
9: There are a lot of items in the store. But we don't have everything. A store doesn't have something in stock? Politely discuss it with an employee. Though no absolute promises can be made, we can try to get it in stock. We want you happy. If you're happy, you return. If you return, we get to keep our jobs.
10: Store policy is store policy. You may not like it. It may seem like it doesn't make sense. Regardless, employees have to follow it. I would ask for your patience and understanding.
11: And perhaps most importantly... Asking where stuff is. If you ask a produce person where some frozen meat product is, you may not like the answer ("I don't know"). In my experience, employees don't really leave their departments. Therefore, they probably don't know where specific items are. We can hazard a guess or two, but that's if you're lucky. I know it's frustrating, being unable to find what you want to buy, but we're not walking encyclopedias. As I've said before, we want to help you. We want you to be happy. But that doesn't always mean we know everything about anything in the store... especially when it comes to other departments. If you have something specific, your best bet is to go to that department and ask someone who actually works there. Otherwise, please wait patiently while we call someone who can answer your questions. The main point is, employees are people too. Do you like it when someone gets in your face, yells at you or makes snide remarks when you're just trying to help? Probably not. I can't imagine anyone would respond well to such behavior. So if you want help, if you want someone to provide good customer service, make sure you provide them with good human empathy.
TL;DR: Don't be a douche and we won't be douchey back.
