Reblog to save a duck
He rules
A fanart for the phenomenal game Outer Wilds! It took me about 15 hours of active drawing, by far my most intensive piece of digital art. Hope you enjoy, minor spoilers.

Weekly anatomy tip!
This week I tackle feet. I know how many of you asked for it.
It is hard topic indeed. It’s hard to draw nice looking character with feet that doesn’t look believable.
A lot practice is needed. I just presented few ideas and now you have to put it to practice.
Hope this helps !
Helpful resource for a tricky topic!
thinkin about nene…
One more for the road.
My interest in Ducktales hasn’t changed, I still love it, but my brain isn’t wired to write for it anymore. Lena still has a very special place in my heart, though. She deserves her happy ending, in the show and here <3

TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS
I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, I’ve got your solution.
Native-Languages is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.
Thank you!
In addition, also, as a native person, I will add —
A lot of us in modern day are given ‘white’ names, especially if we were born in close proximity with a white community or have a white parent. People on the reservation are given ‘white’ names all the time, and the way a lot of us reclaim our identity is by changing our last name / being adorned with a last name specific to our person + culture.
You WILL meet a lot of native and mixed native people with ‘white’ names, especially first names. You will also meet a lot of native people who have changed their names either to or from a ‘white’ name, on or off the rez, for their own personal reasons.
So ultimately if you are choosing a name for your native OC, this post is a good start, but you really, ultimately, need to consider things like:
what is their relationship to their culture / are they connected to their community?
is their nativeness a part of their identity they accept?
were they raised under circumstances wherein them being native was repressed or denied by those around them, specifically those who raised them?
have they given themselves a different name than they were born with?
what tribe claims them, and what names are associated with that specific culture (we are not all the same)?
etc., etc., etc. …
— when considering names for native characters.
So this post is very good! But we are all nuanced individuals and genocide / assimilation has affected us overall. It is not racist to realistically depict the effects of indigenous erasure. It is more racist to deny them. Just think about the kind of character this is, and the background they come from. Those factors dictate A Lot for us.
