Happy pride month to the closeted marine at fire academy who started asking me questions about being gay and I want sure if he was going to come out to me or tell me I was going to burn. (It was the former.)
Being out is great if you can be! Being proud of yourself is a safe place for others to be able to confide in you. But if you can’t be out, just yet, that’s ok too. Being able to tell at least one person who you trust with as he put it “heal you in so many ways that you’ve been broken.” 🏳️🌈
It was so sweet. He was asking me how if I felt different or regretted my choice. And I had to say buddy; that’s just one aspect of you. Who you date doesn’t dictate your choices in anything else. Who you are, your music taste, your friend group, your hobbies and everything about you is what make you; not the fact that unfortunately men are your preferred people.
