“Bakugou,” His manager is pacing around his office, “Are you even listening to me?” Bakugou scowls, shifting his weight in the office chair. “How can you be a pro hero when every other word out of your goddamn mouth is fuck?” Bakugou smirks.

“Kids love swearin’.” He grunts and his manager massages his temples, straightening his tie, Bakugou gets distracted by his clean unscarred hands every time he sees them, they look foreign, almost, unused. Perfectly manicured.

“Well,” His manager throws up his hands. “You’re about to lose your endorsements, which will cost you and therefore me, about a million dollars.” Bakugou shrugs. “And you can’t keep criticising the commission they-”

“I got enough money,” He sits up a little in the chair, cutting him off, “I don’t wanna fuckin’ censor myself, if I think what the commission’s doing is bullshit, I’m gonna say my shit, and if I think a hero crapped out on somethin’ I’m gonna say it-”

“You are so goddamn selfish,” His manager snaps, “You’re not thinking about any of the goddamn people working here,” he rubs his eyes. “Just, just get the fuck out of my office.” Bakugou shrugs, lumbering out of the skyscraper, a tiny thought in the back of his brain worming its way to the front. He pulls a number out of his phone, flopping into the backseat of his car, waiting until his driver starts moving before tugging the gloves of his costume off and angrily shooting off a text.

Bakugou: hey this is Bakugou Katsuki

You: ah, hi, sorry, is this a mistake?

Bakugou: nope

Apparently, they had cops helping keep the other cops away, they did this by convincing them that they would do it regardless and helping would be safer, and if they set a crazy enough record it would deter other people.

The speed discrepancy between the top speed at almost 200 and average speed of 103 is because they dropped it with other cars nearby, which was also a strategy to not get reported and stopped.

It was not a Mercedes it was an Infiniti Q50 modded with a GT-R drivetrain which was set up for multiple drivers with a MIDDLE seat like a McClaren F1? I cannot find pictures unfortunately.

The original interview says they had a fucking smoke screen if they got chased even. Recommended by his therapist apparently?

A comment on a fic more than once gave me the idea or inspiration I needed to add another part to that fic. It helped me to produce even more of the content that the reader who left it enjoyed so much.

A comment on an older fic reminded me that my fics don’t get lost 24 or 48 hours after posting. True, that’s when most fics get the majority of their hits, kudos and comments, so a writer sometimes feels like if a fic hasn’t done well in that time frame, it’s as good as gone. But some people discover and love such fics later on and that’s incredible.

A comment once stopped me from deleting my AO3 account. For reasons, I was feeling really low, like I had no talent and nothing to offer. Like everything I was posting was banal and worthless. And as my finger was hovering over the ‘delete account’ button, a mail notification let me know that someone left a comment on one of my fics. I went to read it and it was absolutely lovely. And it complimented not just that fic, but my writing overall. It helped me get through a rough moment.

Your comments can mean so much more than you know. You have more capacity to do good and help content creation in the fandom, that you and others enjoy, than you realize.

I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.

This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.

You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.

“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.

6) have read the summary of the story, which aren’t always great but are the only indicator of what the story will be like writing wise so something about it was good enough for you to click on it.

7) have read the tags of the story which will tell you what is actually in the story. If you have used filters to remove stories with things you don’t want then there shouldn’t be anything in here that’s a shock to you but maybe there is. That’s why the tags are there for you to check for yourself.

8) Then you have to actually click on the story. You cannot see anything other than the summary or the tags without personally deciding that you are going to open and read this story.

9) Only here, at step number nine, do you get to the adult content warning pictured above. You have been through eight different steps, the last six of which have also been opportunities for you to see that this has adult content. And AO3 has *STILL* stopped you to ask one last time “are you sure you want to read this because it has things that only adults should see in it”.

If after this point you are reading incest and paedophilia then it’s probably because you specifically went looking for it.

So last night I get an email about a new comment on one of my fan fics. I read the email, and the comment seemed shady as hell to me. But given it was late at night, I didn’t look into it until this morning.

I was able to confirm that this is in fact spam–and a possible phishing scam–on this Reddit thread. The OP on that thread got similar messages on their fanfiction.net account, with the links included being identical to the ones in my comment.

1. Writer’s Market 2019 is a great place to start– it gives you a list of magazines and journals that you can send your work to depending on the genre as well as lists a shit ton of literary agents that specify what genres they represent, how you can get in contact with them and how they accept query letters. this is a book that updates every year and tbh i only bought it this year so i dont know how critical it is to have an updated version  

2. do your research. mostly on literary agents because if you listed on your site that you like to represent fluffy YA novels and some asshole sends you a 80k manuscript about like…gritty viking culture, you will be severely pissed off. always go in finding someone who you know will actually like your work because they’re the ones who will try to advocate for you in getting published.

3. learn how to write a query letter. there are slightly varying formulas to how you can write an effective query letter. you’re also going to want to get feedback on your query letter because its the first thing the literary agent will read and based on how well you do it, it could be the difference between them rejecting you outright and giving your manuscript a quick read

4. unfortunately, you’re gonna want to get a twitter. Twitter is where a lot of literary agents are nowadays, and they host things like twitter pitch parties, where you pitch your manuscript in a few sentences and hashtag it with #Pitmad #Pitdark, some version of pit. a lot of literary agents and publishers will ALSO post their manuscript wishlists, which is just the kind of books they’d like to represent/publish, and they hashtag this with #MSWL (it is NOT for writers to use, only for agents/publishers)

Yes, Thalia has big main character energy. But Percy is a better protagonist to follow by FAR. Going back to the point of hubris above (THANK YOU @missellewoods for all of that), Percy is a character that we can constantly follow without ever thinking “he thinks he’s all that”. Too often, protagonists grow a big head, or start off with a gigantic sense of self. Percy Jackson is one of the most likable, easy to root for characters in existence. He’s a perfect blend of self aware, aloofness, confidence, and crippling self doubt. He’s impulsive and emotionally driven, but he owns up to his mistakes and everything he does, resulting in good or bad things, is to help the people he cares for. There is NEVER a dull moment with Percy; never a time where we grow tired of him or his antics.

Thalia is a GREAT character, and she’s fun to follow as well. But she’s too self assured to really be someone you can root for like with Percy. She’s too emotionally driven, and a bit too aggressive to really be someone we can follow through everything. Following Thalia, or even Annabeth (if anyone starts in with Mary-Sue bullshit I will write you a goddamn novel), would have left us certain of where the characters ended up. When the main character doubts themselves, we doubt right along with them. It leaves us in anticipation and has us cheering for them to win, to prevail under all odds. Thalia would have been too confident, too much of a “main character”.

Percy is the best protagonist in existence because of how unexpected his entire life is, and because of how easy he makes it to cheer him on and be left waiting to see what happens next.

saw this couple across the street from me waiting for the bus. the guy did the thing where he pretends to look for something in his bag and pulls out a finger heart instead

girl sitting next to me in the library has been grinding on an assignment all day (like i’d have been in the library from 10-3 with breaks in between for classes but she’d been sitting there the whole time) and her boyfriend would come in every few hours, put down food or coffee on her table, kiss the top of her head, and walk away without a word

in one of my smaller classes (probably around 30 people) this guy’s phone rang and he sprung up and left the class to answer it. usually profs don’t care if you leave class but this one is really small and he knows all of our names/faces, so when the guy comes back in the prof asks if everything was ok. he has the biggest grin on his face and says “yeah, sorry that was my girlfriend. her flight took off right before it started snowing so i was worried. she’s okay tho.”
