idk if i'm being too sensitive or what but i keep seeing people reacting to ep 4 of iwtv and lestat's song about armand and laughing like oh yeah armand deserves this and in a way i get it, armand's not blameless he caused claudia's death and ultimately for that alone lestat has the right to loathe him forever but also that song was clearly targeted and mocking armand's trauma and reactors keep laughing it up but then contrast that with ep 3 and lestat's own trauma relating to sa and csa and it's all tears and empathy and i'm sat there like??? and where is that when it comes to armand? how come lestat gets a pass even though he also does horrendous things to people he loves. i mean we all saw him gaslight the fuck out of nicki, literally drove him mad. he dropped louis from the sky just because he was mad and he could, he threatened claudia with rape. i just have my limits with lestat and i just don't get how his actions are just put under the rug and he's so woobified but then armand is just this evil pos if you're to listen to half the people reacting to this show. and i shouldn't be surprised to find racism in a fandom but damn if it isn't disheartening

I can see that you don’t understand the importance of the Amethyst Empress myth being mirrored in Rhaenyra’s story via the female heiress being usurped and killed by her younger brother. It’s not some random occurrence that most dragons were born during Rhaenyra’s lifetime and her death ended the magic that made the dragons flourish. The dragon births coincide with Rhaenyra’s own blooming fertility and in the end Rhaenyra’s bloodline prevails against her usurpers. Rhaenyra’s life represents the height of Targaryen power and her death ended the dragons just as the Amethyst Empress could’ve brought a new dawn to the Great Empire but instead her death caused the Long Night. The Amethyst Empress had no bloodline to survive her so that’s why the Long Night happened. The survival of Rhaenyra’s bloodline is important precisely because of the role they will play in ending the Long Night.
