"Perrito! Perrito, shh, shh..." It's easier said than done, grin splitting the flushed and cheery face of a man half escorting his friend in and half using him as a crutch to ensure the grinner doesn't go crashing into the kitchen table. It was Vel who had suggested getting drinks, which had become a few more, and resulted in an elegant stumble back to Abuelita's and the safety of his own bed with best friend under his arm. "Shh-hh..." The finger resting to Velasquez's lips doesn't do much to silence him though as he fights to restrain the drunken laughter of a man enormously proud of his choices.

Deposited onto his own bed, door closed behind them, Vel's fingers spider over the comfily worn bedspread to find Sen's and give them a squeeze. "Housten, the perrito is in the sack." Saying this only serves to usher in a new burst of stifled laughter, quieted with the press of the back of his friend's hand brought to his lips with their meshed fingers. Settling down, laughter ebbing into a yawn, Velasquez finally concedes that the night is ending. "What I mean is you take the bed, perrito. I'm good on the couch."

A history of drug use has made it so that the Bliss found in the Henebane region of Hope County has some interesting effects on Velasquez, or the lack thereof--while in recent history he keeps mostly to smoking pot and, there have been psychedelics in his past. So, how does that affect his time in Hope County under the influence?

How Does Tolerance to Hallucinogens Effect Future Use?

Because of in-game evidence, we can safely assume that Bliss is a hallucinogenic drug made from natural ingredients. Putting this on the back burner for a moment, we should reflect on Velasquez's youth and what he'd get up to. This included and was not limited to the use of different hallucinogenic drugs, namely salvia, peyote, 'magic mushrooms' and LSD. All these substances are known to increase tolerance, thus requiring a user to take more to feel the same effects, as well as LSD affecting the body's tolerance to psilocybin. Now, how does this translate to Bliss?

There are many theories on what Bliss is, whether it's based on a real plant, and I choose to ascribe to the belief that the plant is based on Scopolamine, though clearly weaponized in the Far Cry 5 universe. This is clear in Tweak's retelling of how his family was involved in the creation of the drug. While this real plant does potentially lead to hallucinations, it's not one of the main uses, thus I believe that it's been further engineered in this game universe to behave more like other belladonna drugs.

OTHER  BITS:  Vel generally speaks in English with some Spanish thrown in, but recognizes the majority of the people he comes across aren't going to speak it back. Sometimes this means he uses it as a 'secret language' so he can talk shit to someone's face and they won't be the wiser. However, at home, Spanish is the primary language with English being mostly used between he and his mom.
