I am well aware I'm preaching to the choir here because the people doing this are extremes in the fandom and represent maybe 5% of the fandom max. I am well aware that half of the people doing this don't care, because half of the people doing this are proshippers that draw incest ships and naked kids. They already believe fiction doesn't impact reality, which is exactly why they romanticize Father — because he's a horrible person and proshippers love horrible things and horrible characters made out to seem hot and attractive "HURRR BECAUSE IT'S FICTION 😍". But some of these people, honest to god, have "proshippers/darkshippers DNI" in bio and then look at you with a straight face and harbor the exact same mentality that proshippers and darkshippers do, just with one very specific thing. This guy was written to be the CEO of child abuse, that is his entire personality and motive for being a villain, this was INTENTIONALLY WRITTEN BECAUSE OF THE SHOWS THEMES, and you think that's an okay person to romanticize? No, that's proshipper stuff. It isn't okay to romanticize it just because you like to imagine he isn't abusive to YOU. That's called being complicit because you're choosing not to care that he abuses others or choosing to not let his abuse of vulnerable characters get in the way of your feelings for him because it "isn't *you* who is being hurt". There are real people who think like that. Most abusers get away with what they do because people in their life are complicit. If you think romanticizing/normalizing abusive behavior is wrong, why do you think romanticizing/normalizing complicit behavior towards abusers is okay? If you're anti proshipper you should understand by now that glorifying shitty things and shitty people in your consumption of fiction is dangerous for both yourself and the people around you.

Not to mention most of this fandom is comprised of child abuse victims so it makes many people genuinely sick to see people selfship with a person just like the person who ruined their life forever with all of the same traits that caused them to ruin their life forever. I'm not going to say that just because people relate a character to their abuser that means it's bad BUT yeah there is a bit of a problem if the reason they relate them back to their abuser is because they're an ABUSIVE CHARACTER and not because of unrelated shared personalities. Duh, people are grossed out by your insensitivity. You realize this is a real issue that people have IRL? That many people in the real world view being hot and sexy as higher on the list of priorities than being an abuser? Because if you think this is "just fictional" I'd like to see you have an abuser that's conventionally attractive and see how people speak to you about your own abuse and abuser when they know what your abuser looks like. 👍 why are we trying to normalize the mindset that you can ignore or push aside atrocious things if the perpetrator is hot enough. This is a real mindset that real people have, do you think that needs encouragement through fiction? None of the horrible shit that people draw like it's cute deserves to be treated like that.

We can't even represent conventionally attractive abusers in fiction for awareness/representation without one of you missing the point entirely and proudly getting a pitched tent and you wonder why it's so hard to get people to take abuse victims seriously — people like you keep finding some way to make an abuser seem less horrible when they're represented in fiction, that's why. A ton of the people doing this are abuse victims themselves and can't seem to understand that they're only capable of ignoring the abuse because their OWN ABUSE desensitized them to the idea of abusers, something that shouldn't be encouraged because of how dangerous it is to be desensitized to such a thing. It is not healthy to be so desensitized to abuse and abusers to the point where seeing or hearing that a character has committed vile acts of abuse does NOT turn you away, that means you're at higher risk of becoming a repeat victim, honey. It is not healthy to "cope" by romanticizing the people that ruined your life. It is not healthy to try to view horrible people that do horrible things in any way that's positive, whether that be romance or something else. It is not normal to promote the idea of abusers being the types of people you can/should date or view as attractive in the main fandom tags of a kids show, where people who are still forming their opinions about what love and people to be attracted to look and act like are taking influence from your own behavior.
