I can't fucking stand people who use terms like, "minor-coded" or "sibling-coded" because 98% of a time, it comes from people trying to justify harassing people over ships they don't like, or from people trying to justify why finding a fictional character hot is wrong.

You will see two male characters that are literally implied to be in a romantic relationship, and then some dumbass will go like, "actually, I personally view these two as siblings. Therefore you can't ship them and you deserve to die if you do."

It's literally almost ALWAYS with characters that are the same gender and have a close relationship that others might think they're in a romantic one that get this treatment. I'm starting to think those people are just homophobic and want an excuse to shit on queer people for just existing and having fun.

And god FORBID a character who is confirmed to be an adult acts childish, whimsical or immature. Then these people will fight through hell and back to try and demonize people who even think about finding them attractive or hot because of the way they act.

Like bro. Who the fuck cares if a adult is a little whimsical? That doesn't mean they are a child! But no matter how many times you tell people on TikTok that SpongeBob SquarePants is not a child and shipping him with Squidward is okay, they will put their fingers in their ears and go like, "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!", they ignore the fact that he has a job, he lives in his own house, and he constantly tries and fails to get a driver's license, just to demonize people who ship him with Squidward or find him attractive in general.

This kind of behavior can also come off as ableist in my opinion, especially if I feel like the character is autistic in some way. Take Papyrus from Undertale for example. I found an essay someone wrote where autism explains nearly everything about Papyrus as a person, and it made me subscribe to the headcanon that he's autistic. So seeing people infantilize him and act like he can't do anything on his own without the help from someone and he would cry if he hurt a fly personally hurts me because I see him as autistic and I just kind of feel like they're infantilizing autistic people. I'm not saying they are, but it just feels like it.

That infantilization of Papyrus also caused people to create "National Papyrus Says Fuck Day", a day that is dedicated to him swearing. So yeah.

Yes, you absolutely can write a taboo topic. In fact, a lot of therapists suggest using fiction to cope with trauma and many encourage writing/reading dark things if it makes you feel better because its fictional

It makes me sad that so many trauma survivors who've already lost their personal autonomy are being told they're not allowed to have it again in a completely safe way

The thing about Yui is that she doesn't know how to view Kyoko. A part of it is due to Kitayama's indecisiveness throughout writing Danganronpa:Kirigiri (evidence seen in Kirigirisou and the volume 7 afterword), but it ultimately comes down to her blaming herself for her actual little sister's death/murder, and using Kyoko (whether she wants to admit it or not) as a "rebound" to correct something she could never be faulted for in the first place. And this slow unwinding of seeing her as someone else is essentially a slow burn to her final monologue somewhat-of-a-love confession towards the end of volume 7's final chapter.

You can even see this crack in her mindset as early as volume 3:

And by "crack" I mean it quite literally (see how Mayu and Kyoko are literally separated from each other in Yui's mind? Interesting stuff, and could be its own little analysis)

Kyoko is a whole other can of worms to get into, and is the entire reason why I never want DR:K to get an official translation. I could go on and on about Japan culture when it comes to honorific usage, class-s yuri tropes, and etc., but I feel like that because Yui's author-inflicted indecisiveness is at the forefront---(I did not magically forget the "team sisters" comment Yui made during the gun games)---it could probably wait another day.
