i dont think there’s any right or wrong way to self ship but i do think there are benefits to both being more “realistic” with your self ships AND indulging in the fantasy.

like you should imagine your fav loving you just as you are, supporting you through your real life struggles, visiting you at your irl job, interacting with your family, etc. it helps bring love and whimsy to your life in a way you may not always get to.

but i do also think its good to imagine things differently too. imagining yourself in your dream job in their universe, having your s/i wear the clothes you always wanted to, having fun magical powers, etc. it lets you explore things that you may never be able to in real life, even if those things do technically exist irl.

self shipping can be your outlet for everything. exploring the what if’s of life, living your dream life, but also recognizing the joy of your current life and bring love and/or care to the things that already do exist in your reality.
