It’s also intriguing where OP chose to put details. In amostly minimalist creation, the (relatively) detailed frappe, hands, and face guides your eyes in a a dynamic way- from the frappe to the face, then follows the line of the body out to the end of the legs- making the art more interesting to the eye.

It also goes without saying that bioessentialism inherently can’t be trans inclusive no matter how hard you try. “All men including trans men—” probably not. “This is only a woman’s issue—” is it really? “Afabs only—” why? “All trans men are like—” what? what are they like? finish the sentence i dare you.

The Golden Age.

I'm going to be pretentious and insufferable today, maybe it won't make sense, but I've been thinking too much about this. We all know Caesar picked and choose from Roman History and Mythology as he pleased, but even if we find no references in game to this, I believe the idea of the Golden Age is a core element of the Cult of Mars.

More specifically, a return of that Golden Age, but I'll elaborate more later.

The Golden Age is a mythological period in the history of Ancient Greece that became one of Rome's favourite topics. Ovid in the book one of The Metamorphosis wrote about the Four Ages of Men, with the Golden Age, the first one, described as: It fostered faith and right all on its own, without laws and without revenge. Fear and punishment did not exist. And Virgil also wrote about the Golden Age in Georgics, in a kinda nostalgic way. For Roman authors, humanity existed during the Golden Age in a state of nature similar to Rousseau's ideas, but in a more mythical sense, instead of purely philosophical.

Going back in history, from Hesiod we can understand the Ages of Men (for Hesiod is five ages, while Ovid understands four) as how technological development took us away from that ideal state of nature, and I can totally see Caesar using these ideas as a really important element of the cosmology of the Legion. The promise that he, Son of Mars, will be the one to lead humanity into this promised Golden Age.

These promises of a return to an idealised, perfect past also have fascist undertones, and while I argue that the Legion is not fascist (the economical, social and historical conditions under which the Legion exists are not compatible with fascism. I don't say this to ignore the horrors of the Legion, but their form of imperialism is different from fascism), I do believe Caesar used a trick or two from fascist rhetoric to build the Legion.

Why I like to imagine the return to this Golden Age as part of the mythology of the Legion is how the ideas of the state of nature contradict the reality of how the Legion operates. Caesar's Legion is this leviathan, a creature of absolute power that rules through fear, without compromises with the individual, distrusting freedom. And this contradiction between mythology and reality is something that I believe fits both the Legion and Caesar perfectly. I also believe Caesar changed Saturn/Chronos as the ruler of this Golden Age to Mars.

The Son of Mars will lead humanity to a new Golden Age of peace, prosperity and glory through relentless brutality. In this idea, humanity can't be trusted to achieve its own liberation, and it should be forced.
