I’m hesitant to post a picture on this because with the new guidelines I’m afraid it’ll get marked explicit, but I do have one I can provide on request.

I want to tell you about my coworker Mariela.

She’s 35, has five kids, and has had one HELL of a year–she’s doing dialysis three times a week because her kidney function is at only 6%, and she’s waiting for a transplant. A few weeks ago she ended up with meningitis.

Although that disease has, thankfully, run its course, Mari was out of work and thus without pay for almost two and a half weeks. She’s a single mother, and when I heard her worrying at work about whether she could do anything for Christmas–“I want to try to at least get them all a pair of shoes but I don’t know if I can”–my heart broke.

If I could afford to give her and her kids the Christmas of their dreams, I would, no questions asked. But we both make a similar wage, and I can’t do it alone.

If you’ve been looking to do a good deed for Christmas, or thought of getting me something but weren’t quite sure what to do, I’ve put together Amazon lists for her kids, and would love your help. (I’m still looking for books for Everardo, which is why his looks kind of barebones.) Can you help me give Mari and her kids the Christmas they deserve?

I’d like to have everything in hand by 23 December so I can wrap it (if needed) and get it to Mari; her family is Mexican and so their celebration begins on the 24th. Anything purchased off these wishlists will go directly to my house, where it can be wrapped and set aside for Mari–all you have to do is click a button.
