I enjoy a lot of DC characters...
But, Iâll always prefer Marvel over DC for a very simple reason. DC, for the most part, portrays superheroes as 30-something, conventionally attractive, often quite well off financially, etc, while the villains are almost always portrayed as âfreaksâ, who are either part animal, or hideously scarred, non-human looking aliens, or just like, âevil mirror imageâ versions of their heroes. Marvel is often more open to having heroes who face financial difficulty, heroes who are the same kinds of âfreaksâ DC would portray as villains, heroes who are teenagers, or older, and villains who are old former friends of the heroes without having to basically portray themselves as inverted versions of them, as well as quite regularly having villains who are the good looking, smart business men, and such. I donât know, maybe I just prefer a world where itâs shown that being a hero isnât about what you look like, or how you live, but who you are inside that counts.Maybe I just prefer a world where even someone most of the world would treat like a joke is able to be a hero.
