ok i absolutely need to know what accents u all have pls reblog and tell me or comment or whatever I must know
#okay so first you gotta know about southern central ohio#this is important cause the foothills of the appalachians start here so there's a heavy appalachian influence#and also influence from the south#BUT#it's still technically the north and cincinnati is right there#so there's midwest influence and a heavy rust belt influence#AND#there's a large mennonite/amish population in the region#their accent is a lot more specific to them but there's no way it hasn't influenced some local understandings and pronunciations#so. take all this and add a dose of internet#and you get something that sounds like an offshoot of the 'basic american english' accent but is distinctively not#it shows itself in drawn out vowels and heavy (and i mean heavy) use of metaphor and images#you'll hear the midwestern ope and the southern yall and appalachian terms like a boggin (hat for your noggin) and cincinnati#terms like gym shoes#i honestly don't mean to ramble i just cannot explain this accurately without the geography lesson#i can go anywhere in the country and they'll hear my words with little problem but might not have a fucking clue what I'm talking about#i come in to work like 'hey yall sorry I'm late the guy in fronta me used molasses as oil and begged the lord to take him off the clock'
