So. I love Red River. The story about Yuri, a 15 year old Japanese girl, who gets spirited away to Bronze Age Middle East and actually makes something of the situation has been my favorite since I was 13. I'm almost 33 now. So thanks for ruining that for me.

The animation is REALLY bad. Most frames are just stills with a voice over or an effect. When you see multiple people in a scene the camera pans over their unmoving bodies. Alternatively the character in the background just looks badly drawn. When someone speaks, you only see mouth flaps - if any at all.

The proportions are bad.

And while the artworks look good, the characters in the series itself are uff... bad. Nakia has been the one hit most by it. They flattened her voluptuous curves. Also: the splendor of the royal family is lost.

And as a former anime critic - yeah I was trained for that - I know you can't really adapt 90s shojo perfectly into moving pictures?

But honestly? Red River deserved more. Yuri deserved better. And I hate the atrocious shojo damsel in distress voice she has.

No offense to the voice actor, she is probably doing what she was told to do and she does it well. It just doesn't fit Yuri.

I will probably have to watch at least 3 episodes for a full picture of the situation. But so far? I loath the fact that Red River is sold out in my country and that there is no reprinting sight. Because.... oh girl. I need the original.

But ever since finishing school I have been struggling. I've taken up work as a journalist and when you are writing all day, you really don't feel like writing in the evenings too. Combine that with changed life circumstances (I have friends now!!!) and a new living situation and boom.

I am still creative. I still create elaborate stories in my head. I am currently curating a thousands of words long fanfiction across multiple millennia. While keeping my existing stories in mind.

But writing? That's hard.

I have thought about dictating my stories. But then I need to go back and edit and get everything in order.

I just wish you he juices would flow again like they used to. Good old times.

Anyways. Let's see if I can keep on writing for a bit.

Daeron has been championing his youngest brother since the beginning. I think he realises he (Daeron) is a fuck up with his dreams and drinking problem, and Daeron probably sees how Aerion turned from a young boy who liked fishing into the menace he is in the series/book.

So Daeron talking to Dunk in the Beesbury tent? I feel like he was trying to push Dunk to accept Egg. And when Maekar didn't want to let Egg go, Daeron took it into his own hands and send Egg on his way - whether Egg knows Maekar has no idea or not.
