omg i sure DO have headcanons!!! i don't usually talk about them because i like sticking to canon, and working within it as close as possible, but there are a few!
which is to say: these are only my personal headcanons! most of which are just for me to go "hehe yayyy :)" at and i usually don't include the more indulgent ones in my writing or art LMAO. regardless, i hope you enjoy!!
in order from least to most self indulgent:
his cat is a ragdoll. don’t have much of an opinion on whether it’s a boy or girl, but regardless, calling it lord/lady borel tickles me for some reason.
has laceration scars on his back from lashings. i also hc that charibert was the one behind "interrogating" him before the vault rescue attempt was launched, and since charibert canonically uses fire magic as a means of torture, i headcanon aymeric having burn scars overlapping some of the lashing scars. yeowch!
his courtly skills (dancing, small talk, formal dining, etc) were things he consciously learned in order to fit into a society that judged him for the circumstances of his birth. i think he’s a lot more silly than appearances and training let on.
his primary reasoning for wearing the elephant suit is a mix of an “okay BET” attitude towards estinien, as well as him needing an opportunity to get away from work and to become unrecognizable for a while. also the humor of him donning the suit lining up with lucia being away in garlemald is not lost on me. his second in command leaves for one minute and immediately he’s out in the housing district in a neon elephant suit.
he helped cook the meal he and wol had during their dinner in post hw. for any further dinner dates he and wol have, he will also cook for those and try new recipes. if bad at cooking, wol will sometimes help him prep the vegetables and try to learn more. if good at cooking, they will cook alongside him.
indulgence time. despite his reputation, composure, and looks - he is not super experienced in matters of the heart. he’s single in his 30s, he’s awkward asking wol out to drink, and quite frankly only acts enamored with wol. he strikes me as the type who wouldn’t be casual about this sort of thing either. i like the idea of this perfect looking guy who is practiced in manners being Not So Perfect and inexperienced when it comes to this sort of thing.
this is going to be very specific, but he gives me the vibes of an aspec* extrovert. very outgoing, handsome, and charismatic - which greatly influences people’s perceptions of him and his private life - but he just isn’t built like that and sincerely is just that enthusiastic about being with his friends and the people he cares about. until wol appears and starts exploding his feelings that is.
he only accepted courtship offers in his youth. he would go out of social obligation and as a means to position himself higher in society (and most importantly, assuming everyone had the same exact goal in mind), while these noble women would go out of earnest interest in him. these dates never went anywhere as a result. that, and he likely has unintentionally scared off more than a few people due to his passionate ramblings about ishgardian reform. even if he genuinely liked someone, i can see him being quickly disappointed by their lack of idealism or nuance. he has since taken to turning down suitors to avoid leading people on, and is way too busy with work to even think about romance. people probably pester him about this and he always has the same canned "maybe one day" response.
top tier yearner. i feel like any romance with him would be a slowburn. i also hc that his reason for not making any moves on wol is due to inexperience, sure, but mainly because he fears "adding to their burden" by placing his feelings at their feet. he has been tied down by responsibility his whole life. the last thing he wants to do is drag wol down with him.
*he gives me demi bi vibes. doesn’t experience attraction to anyone by appearances and is by all accounts not really attracted to anyone until he forms a close bond with them. see: wol. admiration becomes friendship based on mutual values and interests which becomes something More, regardless of gender.
in comparison, i hc estinien as straight up bi, with his inexperience being attributed to repression rather than being aspec, while i hc haurche as experienced AND bi.
