Take a drink if -the article was NOT written by an Autistic person -the article is about young children with Autism and doesn’t seem to think Autistic people can grow into adults -The article is geared toward straight white middle-class nonverbal boys and does not aknowledge that anybody else can be Autistic -it was written by a self-congratulating parent talking about their “battle” with raising an Autistic child -Bonus points if they completely dehumanize said child and berate their behavior and yet brag about how much they love them -It acts like Autistic people/Autism is a horrible burden on society -Infantalizes Autistics -Uses anything from Autism $peaks as a source -talks about “combating” Autism, as if we were some kind of terrorist organization -uses the word “epidemic” And finish your soul-crushing booze marathon if they seem to think that Autism can in any way be cured, despite the fact that it is a neurological condition and is not in any way able to be cured, not even taking into account that many, if not all of us, don’t want to be.
