“O-Octavia…” Lily’s hand suddenly gripped the other girl’s arm tightly. “What are we supposed to do when we get tired of running? What happens if we pass out from exhaustion, if we run out of food?” Her eyes started to water. “This place is a death trap.”

Finch shrugged her shoulders, as if play off her ways a bit. Honestly the flirting had come to her pretty easily with Lily and she couldn’t help it. She was really cute and her laugh definitely brought a smile to her. “Well, I’m glad.”

        Hearing her he raised an eyebrow but ended up laughing, moved a little closer and ended up opening his mouth even wider. ❝——Never and I guarantee my mouth isn’t just good for talking❞ he winked, simply to tease her. He really had nothing better to do than tease Lily and her gestures amused him greatly. He shrugged as he listened to her but without wiping his smile off his face. ❝And yet you’re right here in front of me. If I didn’t know better, Lily, I’d say you like spending time with me❞ he used a flirtatious tone simply to tease her.

Lily scoffed lightly, crossing her arms and not moving away as he approached her. Of course she was attracted to him; everyone was. But there was a difference between meaningless flirting and an actual relationship; she wanted the former. “Mm… I doubt it,” she said with a laugh. Her eyebrows raised as she looked up at him, daring to move a little closer. Maybe meaningless flirting could turn into meaningless sex. “Don’t flatter yourself. You have no idea what I like,” she replied with a grin.

“And you’re slightly correct, it’s AR. Augmented Reality, very different from Virtual reality.” Which was why there was so much buzz about him, his company and the game development. It would REVOLUTIONIZE the world and gaming as everyone was accustomed to. 

“Right.” She hadn’t fully remembered that; she hadn’t paid too much attention to the smaller details. She was more interested in the whole friendship turned to rivalry part. Asking him about that would only make him even more uncomfortable. She wanted to know more about augmented reality, but she’d pried enough. “Well, uh, I wish you the best of luck with that.”

It took Lily a solid thirty seconds to try and wrap her head around what the hell Gendry had just said to her. Even after thirty seconds, she didn’t get it. There was only one explanation — he was drunk. Very drunk. “What the fuck are you talking about?” she asked through her laughter, staring at him like he was crazy.

        Hearing the girl say that only provoked a smile but he ended up approaching her remaining face to face with his gaze fixed on her without separating. ❝——And why do you think that?❞ he asked with interest and amusement on his face, not hiding it in the least. The truth was he was amused that she would say that although it was no surprise, most Saxons who were Alfred’s devotees thought that and he didn’t care.

How could she not think that? Not only did Uhtred keep flipping sides, he made pointless jokes during serious moments. Lily hated that he was actually kind of funny. “You never shut your mouth,” she replied, crossing her arms. Funny coming from her, of all people. “You are unbelievably disrespectful.”

“I wasn’t but then I was.” Elena shrugs her shoulders as she brings her hand up to wipe away the blood with the back of her hand. “Don’t worry, he was compelled, and he’s alive.”

“Elena…” Lily paused, feeling uneasy about this whole thing. She didn’t know what it was like to be a vampire, but drinking human blood to the point of almost killing someone seemed extreme. Animal blood was another option, wasn’t it? “That doesn’t make it right.”

She wanted to tell him that it was bullshit, that he was wrong. But she couldn’t bring herself to say it, maybe because she knew it was a lie. Despite being one of the Others, Curt wasn’t the enemy. He wasn’t evil. He wasn’t cold-hearted. Lily let out a sigh, looking away from him. She was too proud to admit it. “Whatever you say...”

Lily studied his face for another moment before breaking the eyes contact with a soft sigh. Deep down, she felt bad for him, but she’d even played before, and she didn’t want to let it happen again. “Then why didn’t you?” she asked, already knowing the answer. “You couldn’t leave, could you?” It was less of a question and more of a statement.

A hand rubbed at the back of his neck as he gave a shrug of his shoulders. “You got me, that’s me, just — could you keep it down, I don’t want to draw any EXTRA attention.” It was bad enough that every single media coverage outlet was about him, but he didn’t want to be BOMBARDED by the press like this. He was just running a simple errand and hadn’t expected to be seen this way.

“Shit, sorry,” she apologized, glancing around briefly to make sure no one had heard them. “Uh… how’s it going? The whole VR game thing?” If she’d had less common courtesy, she would’ve asked why he and the other CEO were enemies. She wasn’t that intrusive, though. “And, like, when will it be released?”

Ramsay watched her.  He tried to notice little things so he caught her hands so he knew better then to say something.  He could file it away and use it for something later.  But it meant that she was afraid of him and she should be.  “And?  So have I do you have a point?”  He asked.  “You’ll get used to the change in leadership we all do eventually.  “If you’re offering then I won’t decline.”

She could tell he was tired of this conversation. Lily exhaled sharply, then offered him another smile. “Of course.” She placed a few coins on the counter and was handed two cups of wine. She held one out to Ramsay, a nervous smile on her face. “Here you are.” She silently sipped from her wine, waiting for him to make the next move.
