Hey. Yesterday I told my mom that I wanted to become a psychologist. And she askled me what kind of job is this.? Is this even a job? In our family no one had ever gone to psychologist.
I was a bit shocked because I never thought my mom really think that way.
But then I asked her if I could become a psychiatrist and she was happy cuz it's a medical field.
From this I understood that the awareness about mental illness is still not spread properly and basically in my family they don't care if I become a psychiatrist cuz you know a 'medical field'.
In the end, I really wanna tell you guys I will try my best to chase my dream job. And make my mother realise that psychologist is a profession and everyone should respect it.
It's not my mom's fault but the generation she was born in was different and I only have to make her realise that no one has ever gone to psychologist in my family cuz no one really knew what mental illness is.
