Dream crosses his arms, looking distinctly unimpressed. “Yeah!” He says, emphatically. “It is! So leave, and we don’t have to do this!”

Michael starts building a nest not long after he gets to the arctic because he's Cold an when he's Cold it's time for The Nest.

c!Tubbo: "Okay, I know he has to have learned that from Dream. Which. Why? I thought Dream was human?"

Techno, without hesitation and with a perfect monotone: "Nah, that's actually a piglin thing. We build hidden nests."

c!Phil, walking in and just hearing that part: "Mate, I've known you for ages and I've never seen you build a nest. Or any piglin for that matter."

Techno, smug: "That's because they're hidden."

YEAH.

and that's why i genuinely believe a lot of c!techno's actions during the saving michael/avenging ranboo stream weren't about techno and techno's beliefs but about honoring what c!ranboo meant to him.

the effect c!ranboo's death had on techno was so clear, so deep and devasting. and i think it's because he felt a sense of responsibility towards ranboo. with c!phil, he wants to keep him safe, he relies on phil, they have a very reciprocal relationship. but phil isn't his student.

there's a level of 'i failed' to what happened, especially when you consider that ranboo wasn't the one that was supposed to die: techno himself said that as the mentor, he was the one that was at risk. that cross they found on that island was supposed to be for him, not ranboo.

he was never wrong about the choice he made at the red festival because c!techno has always been willing to die for his beliefs. his actions at the red festival, in his mind, preserved the strength of the revolution. that was his goal. that was his ideal.

but now, he knows these people. more than that, he's lost someone he cares for deeply. c!techno has always wanted to protect people, to rid them of something that he saw cause harm - he said as much when he spoke to c!niki about not wanting people to be forced into fighting battles and dying for a government, it's just more personal now.

so when techno says he should've done more to save c!tubbo, he's saying he can't lose anyone else, even if it's someone he's not close to because that's c!ranboo's husband. (i keep going back to how he stressed that repeatedly.) there is so much guilt that techno carries for not being able to save ranboo, so much pressure that he's under to be this amazing fighter, The Blade, to be beyond reproach.

it's not true that techno was a coward then.

The only person who could match him at fast talking someone into a bad destructive idea is Quackity, and I think Tommy would do it first and do it better.

The idea he’s some UwU innocent whose never done anything wrong is just such a disservice to his character.

To me it’s similar to saying because Sapnap cares about Beckerson Sapnap doesn’t actually kill everyone’s pets all the time.

The man is a pile of get rich quick schemes baked in guilt trips and theft. He has his soft or scared moments but his main response to challenges is manipulation and destruction. And that’s so much fun.

The rare moments where he puts others before himself or gives up something he wants are precious and fascinating because the next day he’ll be back to wanting those things at costs he’s not prepared to pay.

He’ll challenge someone to a duel, agree to the terms loose and then just keep talking until he gets his way anyway. That’s who he is.
