Today is my 17th birthday yet it feels no different than how my day was yesterday or the day before that, it’s just another day, another birthday spent alone, no cake, no friends to hangout with, no plans, and no presents just me and my mother who somehow always manages to make it about herself yet always getting upset when I’m not the happiest I mean what does she expect? For me to be joyous and wear a smile all day when we both already know how the day will go trust me mom I wish I could. Another birthday means getting happy birthday text messages from friends who live in the same town as me but can’t even stop by to say hi, well I can’t expect much of course, people have jobs and their own lives I should be more grateful but every year it feels like another disappointment, I envy the teenagers that can go out and have a blast with friends and family, the teenagers that don’t even have to worry about if they’re going to celebrate their birthday because it’s never an if, the people close to them already had it planned months in advance, those same teenagers will never have to worry about wether their friends actually care about them because their friends always show it and is always there, that’s all I could ask for. I can only have some hope that maybe next year will be different since I will be turning 18, that should be important enough for people right? Well I don’t really have an answer but maybe next year won’t be just another day..
