Young Jack who is whip smart but scoffs at The Establishment. Is a skater and is in a punk band. His parents do not approve and think he should apply himself more but what can they do.

Young Robby who is more buttoned up, a dedicated student but carries the weight of the world . If he doesn't apply himself how will he get a scholarship? He smokes to deal with the stress.

The skate park is along Robby's walk home from school. He stops there a lot because no one bothers him while he smokes. He likes to sit and just watch people go back and forth on the ramps, something about the sound and repetitive motion soothes him.

Jack has noticed him before. He definitely doesn't care that he's watching though and has never tried to show off for him.

Robby is always in a bit of a daze when he's there so he has actually never really noticed Jack. That is, until Jack plops down next to him asking to bum a cig.

Robby finds himself charmed by this confident guy who doesn't seem to care what people think. How does he do that? He doesn't notice the way Jack's arms look in his cut off tee.

Jack likes how earnest Robby is, how he seems to genuinely care about things. He also likes his wry grin, the way his lips tilt up .

This becomes a routine. Robby will stop by the park, they'll share cigarettes, sometimes passing one back and forth. Talking. Jack's chest will swell whenever he can make Robby laugh. Something telling him it's a rare and precious thing.

After a while though, Robby will always say "Well, i'll leave you to it". Standing up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder, and with it, a weight Jack always struggles to see the full shape of.

something something something ... One day Jack invites him to watch his punk band play.

Robby doesn't understand or necessarily like punk music...but he likes Jack. So he agrees.

Something something something ...The music is too loud, let's go in the alley for a cig... Sloppy make out sesh enuses.

Robby notices a ring on the ground and picks it up. Jack says Robby should keep it.

Nah, rings are more your thing, goes with your "look" better.

Robby puts it on Jack's hand. Jack says "we'll both keep it". Robby is confused but lets it slide.

About a week after they find the ring, they are back at the skate park. Sitting, smoking, watching skaters go back and forth on the ramps. Knees brushing but neither of them acknowledging it. Robby's eyes dart to the ring on Jack's hand. He hasn't seen it off him since they found it. Jack casually reaches for it, yanks it off his finger and puts it on Robby's hand instead. He shrugs and says "Your turn".
