i know this is in re: a caption on a super old post but i was going through your bcs tag and. CAN i ask about your needlessly elaborate pokemon au.
slippin' jimmy made beer money selling fake slowpoke tails and conning trainers he found in bars into fighting 1-on-1 battles against his F.E.A.R. rattata. after getting virtual badges from the university of the orange islands ("an online gym -- what a joke!"), he graduated to being a (mostly) legitimate trainer who is a complete headache to fight against. lots of stall techniques and gimmicks. his signature pokemon are a wobbuffet with shadow tag and a moody bidoof because, like, if you don't know those are banned you're basically scamming yourself.
chuck, unlike jimmy, went the proper trainer route. chuck was one of those kids who got a starter pokemon from a local professor at age 12, collected a few dozen badges, maybe fought a rocket member or two to prove his mettle. years of experience and an encyclopedic knowledge of strategy have turned him into *the* most insufferable smogon type. chuck would have a solid, well-balanced team of OU pokes, but also be able to throw in some more obscure strategies to show off. i think he'd keep an old blastoise around as a mascot of sorts -- y'know, something respectable that proves how experienced he is. and, uh, is weak to electricity. (maybe it knows mud sport?)
krokorobin had a really great pokemon crossover he posted a while back as well. a lot of the other ideas i had were pretty similar to his: i think i gave kim a pidgeot instead of a swanna, and howard a poorly-trained salamence instead of a metagross, but the idea of playing off of class was the same. same goes for the cartel plotline characters; there's just a smaller subset of pokemon to choose from that are associated with police and organized crime. whatever i had picked for nacho wasn’t as perfect as that houndour!
