Dumb confession time: I lowkey use Nya as a litmus test for whether I should interact with someone in the fandom or not. If they're being oddly hateful towards her or are undermining her or ignoring her role in the team, it's usually a sign for me to just block and move on.

She's spent an entire year trapped in this inhuman form spending every second fighting tooth and nail to hold on to every scrap of memory of her friends and herself, only to lose herself in the end and forget she used to be a person. Like sure she was brought back after one year but that's going to affect a person right. Nya who can hear the call of the sea and is fucking terrified of it. Nya who avoids the coastline and big bodies of water and small bodies of water and water in general because she's terrified she will lose herself again. Nya who refuses to shower and refuses to drink and refuses to do anything that has to do with water, Nya with even worse aquaphobia than Kai or Cole post-DotD. Nya who might've regained her powers because of necessity but who now almost wishes she never had them. Nya who looks at her friends all having sacrificed their powers to defeat the Overlord and wishes she was one of them. Nya who returned only to see a world broken and full of crime, her own team arrested and sent to prison, Nya who sees the world has decayed because she left it behind. Nya who starts a diary not to figure out her emotions, but to have something to consult if the amnesia strikes again. Nya who obsessively tries to remember every tiny detail about her life, repeating even the smallest details to herself over and over again, in fear that she might start forgetting again. Nya who looks in the mirror and sees the features left behind after she came back from the sea and she hates them all, she hates the reminder that they are. Nya who became the water ninja not because she wanted to but because she had to save the world, Nya who became one with the sea not because she wanted to but because she had to save the world. Nya who is traumatized post-Seabound.

had a thought about little dysfunctional siblings Kai and Nya trying so desperately to make it work after losing their parents but failing miserably at it because they're just little kids. They argue a lot, they yell at each other, Nya runs away from the house one day in tears, and because Kai isn't a grownup he doesn't come looking for her for many hours.
