I think lloyd latched onto the "princess harumi" identity hoping that that girl is there somewhere, so much that he let himself get caught up in her plans (webs). Once he does realize it and tries to break free, he doesn't let go of the harumi hoping that the person he fell for is still there somewhere.

i think like dance partners you could have a lot of fun and chemistry as you dance, but the song will eventually end and you have to let go.

I'm just trying to imagine how he tried to fight Nokt being skewered like this AND then he got his elemental power taken, so he couldn't heal in his usual way- how is he still standing at the end of season 2?? 😭😭😭

While I do love a bug Kai au (and I'm definetly planning to play around a bug Kai design myself), I very much prefer the canon take on it. The fact that Kai's determination to see his family again is strong enough to triumph over the darkness of the Land of Monsters is awesome!
