Cole: The calmest among the group. He often acts as a mediator during his teammates’ fights, using his calm voice to ground them. He rarely raises his voice, but when he does, it’s as loud as his music. He lives closest to Lloyd and always makes sure he gets home safely.

He has a good relationship with his father, although they disagree about the professional path Cole should take, and his father doesn’t like that he is friends with Lloyd Garmadon. His mother, like Cole, is calm and gentle but has a strong personality, what she says goes, and Louie listens to his wife. She doesn’t mind Lloyd and encourages Cole to invite him over. She is aware that Cole is a Ninja, but his father is not, and she occasionally gives him advice about his powers.

Jay: He is very shy, but once you get to know him, you’ll find an intelligent and loud teen. It’s not intentional, sometimes his mouth moves faster than his mind, especially when talking about something he enjoys.

His adoptive parents are Erma and Herb. He has a sort of relationship with his biological mother, Libber, but it’s more like a distant aunt who sends cool presents. It has always been like this, and thanks to his parents’ constant support, he has never felt the need for her to play a more stable role in his life.

His favorite activity is repairing the mechs, something he enjoys even more since Lloyd and Wu started teaching him Master Building. He also has a not so subtle crush on Nya.

Nya: She appears confident, but she’s just as dorky as Jay. Somehow, she manages to look cool doing anything, at least in Jay’s eyes. She has friends outside the Ninja team, like Skylor and Pixal, and enjoys girls nights, which her brother often interrupts to steal snacks.

Nya loves anything related to engineering, and her hobby is working on her motorcycle. She also enjoys working on the team’s mechs. She and Jay usually arrive early at the warehouse to maintain, repair, and improve them.

When Lloyd isn’t there, leadership naturally falls on Nya. She has quick thinking in tense situations and gives the right orders to her team. She is the least teased on school among the Ninja. Her elemental training is Morro’s responsibility. She has a strong personality but keeps it under control, remaining calm and nonchalant in her daily life.

Kai: Nya’s older twin brother. Kai is a mix between class clown, jock, and overprotective sibling. He once tried to give Jay the “intimidating brother talk,” but Jay was too shy and took it too seriously, making Kai cringe and laugh at himself.

He is very physically affectionate, offering his shoulder for others to cry on or rest when needed. He always goes the extra mile to do something nice for the team, like going to a 24-hour convenience store to get comfort food after a bad fight, ignoring his own exhaustion and pain just to cheer them up.

He is mostly kind to everyone but has a short fuse, so it’s better not to mess with him or his team.

Zane:You would think that, as an android, Zane would be academically perfect by design. However, he wasn’t built to be just a computer, he was created to be as close as possible to a being capable of growth and learning. His father wanted him to experience life, even designing small details like hiccups, burping, yawning, and even tears.

Zane still gets good grades, but through his own effort. He struggles with his identity: was he built to be human? He isn’t human, and he never will be. But does he need to be human to be a person? What does it mean to be a person?

Philosophy and ethics classes have given him a way to explore different perspectives on life. This has brought him peace of mind, and the reassurance of his teammates has given him space to explore. He has come to understand that humans are so different from one another that almost anything can be considered a “normal teenage experience.”

Lloyd: The leader of the Ninja force. Lloyd doubts every decision, word, and even his posture around others. However, when he puts on his mask, he transforms into a more assertive and confident person, allowing his true personality to shine when the fear of being judged disappears.

With his friends, he is kind, easily annoyed, sarcastic, excitable, and talkative; though you wouldn’t notice this unless he feels comfortable around you. As his training progressed, he started getting hit less often, becoming increasingly better at dodging.

Outside of his Ninja duties, his main interests are reading comics and writing fanfiction about his favorite franchises. Jay is the person he goes to when he wants to brainstorm ideas.

Others related to the Ninja Force

Fuchsia Ninja: Although Wu trained him, he doesn’t really answer to him and mostly does whatever he wants. Wu gave him a sword, but he prefers carring heavy firearms, not very ninja-like. He occasionally crashes at Wu’s place without notice and leaves just as abruptly. He also helps at Wu’s shop whenever Wu leaves to fight his brother. He has very few fans.

Morro Wu: He began training with his father later in life, out of necessity, since Garmadon’s army had no problem attacking civilians. As he grew older, he began to notice his father’s daily exhaustion. Being a Master Builder, a master of wind, and having combat training, Morro believed he could help in battle but Wu never accepted his help, which frustrated him as a 12 year old.

As a teenager, Morro developed an arrogant attitude as a coping mechanism for his inferiority complex, which made him come across as unpleasant. Deep down, he still wanted to connect with others and be included. With time, therapy, and guidance from his father, he overcame this phase.

As he matured, he became calmer and more collected. With that maturity also came embarrassment about his past behavior. Now, he is more relaxed and often mediates conflicts between his cousin and friends. However, remnants of his old personality remain, he can still be judgmental, especially toward people he expects more from or doesn’t particularly like.

Sensei Wu: Ninjago Island was meant to be his place of retirement, but his brother’s invasion put an end to that plan. He struggled to balance running his business with constantly defending against attacks before the Ninja team was formed.

He didn’t have time to build or maintain mechs, relying instead on his creation powers to fight Garmadon. As time passed, the attacks became more frequent and harder to manage. Getting out of bed with barely healed injuries, running on little sleep, opening the shop, and then leaving during busy hours to fight his brother, it was exhausting.

He once ran a tea shop but now sells breakfast and light lunches. After thousands of years of tasting different flavors, he has become an excellent cook, something his customers appreciate. He owns a good coffee machine, which he reluctantly uses for younger customers and ,despite not liking coffee himself, he makes it very well. Morro helps with pastries and is especially skilled at baking.

Lloyd was the first one Wu started training when he was only 11 years old. At first, it was just about learning self-defense so he could protect himself from his father’s violent attacks or from other citizens who hated him. That changed after part of Koko’s apartment was destroyed by a shark-torpedo, and Wu offered to repair it. Wu created the materials from scratch and used his master builder tricks to finish it in an afternoon. During that time, Lloyd assisted him and learned a few things that day. Then Lloyd began, on his own, rebuilding the city after the attacks feeling he had too because of who his father was. Kai and Nya, who had been his friends for some time, followed him and, although they didn’t know master building like Lloyd did, they tried to level the ground so he would have fewer difficulties while constructing. Zane, Cole, and Jay joined in on their own, Jay mostly to look for pieces for his inventions, and Cole to accompany him.

Garmadon’s army also used to collect parts from the city’s attacks, both for their mechs and to sell as scrap. Many times they ended up in the hospital. No matter how many times they were forbidden from entering construction sites or told not to confront Garmadon’s soldiers, none of them ever backed down from a fight. Lloyd never stopped helping others; Nya and Kai never let any injustice slide; Cole was a pillar of support for his friends, being the most emotionally mature even for his young age; and Zane swore that all of this was part of his average teenage experience. And even tho Jay always said he wouldn’t come back after the first fight he kept coming back.

Koko was so busy that, although she tried to make sure Lloyd didn’t go out, she often didn’t get back in time to notice he had left. Neither did Wu, who was very overwhealm by his own responsabilites, since back then he fighted Garmadon on my own. When they were 13, Wu added them to the self-defense classes since it became necessary.
