okay iâm gonna say it: fandoms are kinda dying on tumblr, and theyâre starving because nobody reblogs anymore.
like⌠i donât wanna be that person but be for real?? likes are cute and all but they do nothing for creators. ZERO. NADA. a reblog is literally the oxygen mask keeping this blue hellsite alive. you say you âloveâ a fic, an edit, a gifset? then BABES⌠reblog it. boost it. let it breathe.
half the time creators are out here pouring their entire soul, spine, AND three vertebrae into something just for it to get 200 likes and 3 reblogs, two of which are their own. thatâs why people stop posting. thatâs why fandoms feel empty. content doesnât magically fall from the sky â it comes from people who feel seen.
and i promise you: reblogging is free. it costs you like 0.2 seconds and suddenly youâre personally responsible for keeping a whole fandom alive. congrats!! so yeah. if you like something? reblog it. scream in the tags. yell. keyboard smash. put sparkles. do whatever. just donât let creators feel like theyâre shouting into a void.
reblogs feed creators. reblogs keep fandoms thriving. reblogs literally save lives (okay maybe not literally but u get it).
support the creators you love !!!!!! or else weâre all gonna be sitting in empty tags like clowns.
Gang AU Series 3
Right-hand man! Lee Jeno x Gang member! Reader
Summary: âYouâre willing to save me?â
cw: Mentions of blood, abuse, violence, and death.Â
¡ ¡ âââââââ ¡đĽ¸Âˇ âââââââ ¡ ¡
The hallways are suffocating. Jeno tries his best to ignore the clutching pain in his heart as he walks heavily towards the office of his boss.Â
As Jeno entered the place, he could only glance at you for a second, before shifting his eyes at his boss. The man, in his late thirties stands up, a cigarette between his fingers as he casually smokes inside the place.
âHeâs ready sir,â Jeno said.Â
The man only laughed, throwing the cigarette butt on the ashtray. âI knew I could count on you. Oh well! You can leave early tonight.âÂ
Jeno only nodded. He watched as his boss walked away, and passed by you who could only lower her head. The rest of his men followed suit, and with the shut of the door, the two of you stood there in silence.Â
âCome on,â Jeno mumbled as he approached you. âLetâs get you to your room.â
You only look at him, âBut what if ââ
âHe knows that Iâll bring you to your room,â Jeno said, and without any hesitation, you accepted his hands. But as you stand up, you feel your knees weakening, Jeno has to hold your shoulder so that you wouldnât fall.Â
âSorry,â you mumbled.Â
Instead, Jeno wraps his arms behind your knees and carries you all the way to your room. As he lays you softly to your bed, he stands up to look for the first aid kit in your bathroom.Â
âYou know, you donât have to do this,â you told him as soon as he returned.Â
But Jeno remains quiet, he grabs a pad and some alcohol, lifting your face to see any fresh cuts from you. âI want to, you donât deserve this.â
You could only cry. Both of you are right, you donât deserve this life, but coming from a poor family forced you to. Your father became in debt with Mr. Han, a rich man in his thirties who runs an underground business. It was an illegal transaction and instead of killing your father for not paying his debts, your father offered to give you instead to Mr. Han, and without any hesitation, he accepted.Â
You lived a living hell with that man. You endured his abuses. Thereâs not a day where he raised his hands to you, and as much as you wanted to run away, you couldnât. You donât know where to go, and knowing that heâs a powerful man means that he has eyes all over the place. Itâll be easy for him to find you and at any chance, kill you.Â
But it stopped when Lee Jeno, Mr. Hanâs most trusted man, helped you one night. He tended your wounds and cuts, his touch was gentle and soft that you couldnât help but to cry in his arms. You couldnât believe that thereâs still someone who can look at you with care.Â
At first, you thought it was just a coincidence. But everyday, you can see how Jeno tries to have a glimpse of you. You can feel him staring at you, watching over you, and sometimes, heâs not even subtle about it. Even directly asking Mr. Han to bring you home or take care of you. While the man is clueless about his actions, he lets Jeno be since he trusts him so much.Â
Jenoâs actions cut deep to yours. Slowly, your heart started beating for him. You yearned for him. Looked for him as if he was a hero, and you were waiting to be saved. Just his presence was enough for you to think that life can still go on.Â
âHeâs drunk earlier isnât he?â Jeno asked, cleaning the last wound he found.Â
âHe was angry too,â you answered. You were Mr. Hanâs punching bag, and he was very violent with it. Sometimes he would throw glasses, or bottles of wine at you. He does this when his plan failed or his men fucked-up â he puts all of his frustration at you, and you couldnât do nothing about it.Â
âLook at me,â Jeno lifts up your face and as you come face to face with him. Jeno was in awe. How can his boss ruin that beautiful face of yours? You were an angel in Jenoâs eyes, so pure and sweet. Why would they do this to you?
You couldnât help but cry, shaking hands trying to hold his hands. âI canât do this anymore Jeno,â you confessed.Â
âHey, weâll be alright,â Jeno assures, cupping your cheeks. âLetâs get out of here.âÂ
Your forehead creased, âJeno!? We canât! I canât, itâs too ââ
âDangerous, I know. But I need to get you out of here, you deserve more than this rotten place,â Jeno explains.Â
You couldnât believe it. After years of living in hell, thereâs someone whoâs willing to save your ruined self. You felt a ray of hope in Jenoâs words. As you look at him, all you can see is the eagerness, the sincere look on his face. He was desperate to help you escape.Â
âBut Mr. Han ââ
âIt doesnât matter anymore, Iâve already developed a plan for both of us, just wait for me okay?â Jeno said, and you could only nod.Â
You saw how Jenoâs lips curved onto a smile, he couldnât help but let out a small chuckle, seeing that youâre willing to agree to his plan.Â
He couldnât help but to crash his lips onto yours. This wasnât the first time you two kissed, you two went further than that. You know how gentle he was with you and you were willing to give yourself to him. But this time it felt different, as if he was hungry for you, and you couldnât only do nothing but to kiss him back â as eager as he is.Â
âWait for me here okay? Mr. Han will be out of town tomorrow and Iâll be staying to guard some things, itâs our chance,â Jeno said after breaking the kiss. He rests his forehead on yours, eyes closed as he only feels nothing but your warm hands on his hands.Â
âOkay,â you only answered.Â
He kisses you one last time before leaving you alone in your room. As the silence filled you, you couldnât help but hold onto your heart. Nervous as to what tomorrow awaits.Â
-
You didnât notice that you fell asleep. You woke up from bottles crashing down and strings of curses. You heard Mr. Han shouting as if he was a wild man on the loose. You couldnât help but to squeeze yourself from the corner of your bed, body against the wall as you clutched onto your blanket, praying quietly that he wouldnât barge into your room.Â
But luck wasnât on your side today, the door came open with just a huge swing, it collided with the wall, making you scream in surprise.
âStop screaming you fucking bitch,â he said with gritted teeth. In a split second he grabs you out of the bed, pushing you against the concrete floor.Â
You cried in pain as the bruises from yesterdayâs abuse weren't fully-healed. You couldnât do anything as Mr. Han throws you around like a ragdoll, accepting his punches and kicks all over your body.
It went on for a few hours. All of his anger was poured on you. He continued to curse at you as if it was your fault that another deal of his failed. You only closed your eyes, breathless as you turned numb to his abuse.Â
âUseless bitch,â Mr. Han whispered, as if he wasnât satisfied that you accepted all of it. Heâs used to you fighting back, screaming, and reacting to his actions, but now it was as if you couldnât do anything but to accept it.Â
âJeno come here,â The man ordered. Jeno, whoâs waiting outside, enters.
âIf you want to prove your loyalty,â Mr. Han said, handing him the gun from his coat. âKill her.â
Jeno felt deaf when he heard Mr. Hanâs orders. He glances at you, whoâs lying on the floor. Bruises and wounds all over your body, you werenât even moving. As if you were dead.Â
His eyes darkened, everything became mute to him. As if his hands moved in instinct, he grabs the gun, loads it, and points it to Mr. Han.Â
âWhat the fuck â-â and before the man could even finish his sentence, he felt an inflicting pain in his chest. As he looked down, his white undershirt was bleeding in red.Â
But it wasnât enough for Jeno, he fires the gun three times until he hears a loud thud, Mr. Han falls on the floor as blood starts to flow out of his body.Â
Jeno throws the gun away and approaches you. He held onto your wrist and couldnât feel your heartbeat.Â
âYn? Hey, please open your eyes for me,â Jeno whispered, resting you in his arms. He tries to shake you, but as you become unresponsive, Jeno starts to scream your name.Â
âYn!? Donât, please. Stay awake for me,â he drops you on the floor, performing CPR just to save you. At this moment, he became desperate, continuously trying to save you and his movements became aggressive.Â
Tears started to fall, but Jeno didnât budge as he tried his best to revive you.Â
âYn please,â Jeno whispered. His hands became shaky, he dropped onto you as he began to cry, he couldnât believe that he was too late. He shouldâve prevented this from happening to you. Jeno thought that he shouldâve saved you months ago, he shouldnât have taken this long for him to execute his plan.Â
âBoss! We heard gunshots ââ the group of men froze when they saw Mr. Han swimming in his own blood, next to him was Jeno whoâs mourning in front of your dead body.Â
Jeno stops, reaching for the gun that he used to kill Mr. Han. He stares at your face one last time, before standing up and facing the group. They took a step backward, sensing a different aura from him.Â
All he could see was seething rage. Anger. Denial that he couldnât save you. Everything was red and black, and the image of you.Â
Itâs all their fault that youâre dead. Itâs them. Jeno wanted nothing more but to seek revenge for you. And heâll start it with destroying the people that ruined you.
doesnât he know iâm insane

It was a mistake; you knew it was a mistake; your brother and friends both told you so. Now, due to the enormous amounts of red flags you have ignored, you have found yourself in some hot water. What can you say? Love makes you blind.
âYou cant keep putting up with this! We need to do something,â your friend Ryujin stressed âThis has been going on for too long; im scared something serious might happenâ You were worried that wrinkles might form from how much shes been furrowing her brow.
âIm fine! Its not even that serious, ok? Just drop it,â you say, sitting on your bed with your head buried in your hands as your roommate paced the dorm room. You had never seen her so upset.Â
âNo! I will not sit here while my best friend gets harassed! We need to report this!â
âWe are NOT reporting this ryu; that will only make things worse.â you sigh before sitting back to look your friend dead in the eyes
âHe pushed you down the stairs!?âÂ
âIt was a mistake!â
You met Yuta during your junior year of high school. He was your typical run-of-the mill bad boy; he skipped classes, hung out late, and got high. You knew he was trouble, but that was what you wanted. You grew up rebellious; you were young and dumb. You just wanted attention, and hanging with the wrong crowd got you plenty. You felt unstoppable when you were with Yuta and his crew. When Yuta would parade you around school in your too-short skirt and pretty long legs, you felt special; you felt wanted. Your friends hated him, and they hated what you became. You didnât listen to their warnings, and you stuck around.Â
You stuck around even when skipped classes turned into stolen cars and the weed highs turned into selling. You were stupid to think you could keep up with his lifestyle. You just wanted to piss your family off. You were used to bad boys, but Yuta was something else.Â
She takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself âLook, he's clearly getting bold; I'm afraid heâll seriously hurt you!âÂ
âPlease, drop it,â you beg in exhaustion. Its been a long day. You had classes all day, and with your yuta problem, you found yourself getting tired a lot faster. You had to turn in his class work on top of yours, which resulted in more time spent in the library. You had been getting home later and later.Â
âWhat about Jaemin? Have you told him? You know he would do anything for you.â
Your brother left for college the year before you. You couldn't ask him to fight your battles anymore. He got a full ride and was off in another state, living his life, while you were at home bawling your eyes out over the fact that the heartbreaking bad boy broke your heart.Â
You had finally broken up with Yuta when you realized he was cheating on you. You should have seen it coming, honestly, The day you checked his phone and found the messages, he didnt even try to pretend like he cared. He had been talking to several other girls while he was with you. You felt so stupid, and that was your last straw. Let us just say he was not happy about it, and he and his friends have been harassing you since.
âThat's exactly why I can't tell him; I don't need him flying out just to take care of my issues; I can handle them on my own. He's got his own life; he can't afford any more distractions.â
Your brother was practically your hero growing up. Whenever you were in trouble, he was by your side to protect you. Even though he was really only your stepbrother, he didnât love you any less. You would always be his little sister.
Jaemin had been in and out of the boxing ring for years. Bad boyfriends weren't anything new to you or him; he was the one who typically kept them in check. You were the main reason he picked up fighting; he knew, as your older brother, it was his job to protect you, and he would do it to his last breath. He tried to warn you about Yuta, but you didn't listen. You knew he would drop anything if it meant coming to your aid, but you couldn't ask that of him.Â
You also know he would never let you live it down.Â
You thought once high school was over, you would finally be able to escape Yutaâs torment, but he followed you to your new school. Your brother warned you about him, and now he's not here to protect you anymore.Â
"Ok, what about Jeno?â She states hesitantly,
âAbsolutely NOT!â you scowl, throwing yourself back into the sheets to hide under the covers
âYes! Jaemin literally told you to go to him if you need anything! He probably knew you would be too proud to contact him if you were in trouble.â
You sit back up and throw the covers off of you. âItâs not his problem! I got myself into this mess. I'll get myself out, ok?â you state firmly
"Fine, you know what fine, its getting late Iâm heading to bedâŚbut I swear if heââ
"Ok, Ryujin, thanks really,â you say sincerely. You could never be mad at Ryujin; she was only looking out for you, and you knew she meant well. For all that it was worth, you knew she would always have your back. She would run head-first into battle for you.
You could definitely be mad at Ryujin. In fact, you've been upset for the last hour.
She promised a surprise for you; she said she wanted to take you somewhere to take your mind off of the whole Y*ta situation. Honestly, you were grateful to be getting out of the house; you had been limiting yourself to only going to classes. You were trying your hardest to not run into him.Â
You make sure to dress prettily. You were just too excited to finally have a reason to dress up again. You were so excited, you didn't even blink at the all-too-familiar signs and buildings as Ryujin pulled into the parking lot of a run-down boxing gym.
It's not until you have walked into the threshold and over to the rusty sideline benches that you feel overdressed and out of place. Your eyes scan the room, and everything feels so familiar yet out of place that you feel stupid for not realizing sooner.
As your eyes take in the old tattered banners and boxing ring, you realize you were walked blind into your brother's old gym. He and Jeno used to come here all the time to spar and train. This place used to run official matches and business, but it went bankrupt and had to close. Now it was just a place that hosted underground fighting.Â
You knew what this was about, and you were upset that Ryujin fooled you into coming. You crossed your arms protectively over your chest, and you had hungry eyes staring at you from each angle.
âYou...are... insane,â you hissed at her in anger after you two got settled in your seats.Â
âAnd you are a coward. I'm sorry I lied Ok, but we need his help,â she contests
âYou just walked me into a den full of hungry wolves. We're gonna need a lot more than help now!â You whisper harshly.
"Oh, come on, you know jenoâs not gonna let anything happen to youâ
It was as if saying his name aloud summoned him; the next thing you know, he is in the ring.
You can't help but hold your breath at the sight. He had grown since the last time you saw him, and you didn't even think that was possible. His face was more refined and sculpted, and his arms were toned with muscles. His shoulders would have had you drooling if it werenât for the perdicament you were in. They were broad and covered in cuts and bruises, much like the rest of his body. His body relaxes as he shakes away his nerves. He was standing in one corner of the ring, while his opponent stood menacingly at the other end. You think you hear the announcer call out his nameâwas it Jaehyung? Jaehyoon? Something like that.
You try to duck your head, not wanting to be seen, but you stand out like a sore thumb. As Jeno finished up his quick stretches, his eyes somehow wandered to you. First comes shock, then confusion, and as he rakes his eyes over your outfit, heâs overcome with anger.
Tonight was going to be a long night.
You could hear the scolding nowâŚ
âit's too cold to be wearing thatâ
âit's too dangerous for you to be hereâ
âThis isn't some show; don't bring your friends hereâ
It wasn't even your fault you were here! You already knew he was not going to hear any of that, though.
He fixes you with a stare that says, âWeâll talk later,â and you groan in annoyance.
Before you can even open your mouth to give Ryujin another piece of your mind, the match begins and draws your attention back to the ring.
Jeno sizes up his opponent as they circle each other, looking for openings. His opponent, Jae Something, was twice his size, and honestly, you were a little afraid for Jenos sake. Jae was inpatient and struck first. Jenos weaves left and holds his guard strong. Jeno played the defense; he was patient, and you find that his fighting style was the mirror opposite of his personality. Even though Jeno had a tendency to lose his temper, it was fascinating to watch him change when he stepped into the ring. He moved with poise and thoughtfulness at every turn.Â
Jenos patience rewarded him and he saw an opening In his opponents gaurd. He struck Jae, causing him to stumble back on unsecure footing. This allowed jeno to push his opponent back and switch to offense. Jae was already worn out, and Jeno used this to his advantage, knocking him down and out after hounding him with jabs and hooks.
Jeno was an endurance fighter; his goal wasn't to win through brutality but by outlasting his opponent in a fight.
You were amazed at how far he had come. He was a skilled fighter, as he always had been, but now, after years of honing his craft, you could see he was nothing like the boy you knew before.
The match was over and you were brought back to reality as you realized just what kind of scene you were in. This was an illegal boxing match, and now that it was over, the illegal part really started to stand out. Bets had been placed on the matches before hand and were now being fulfilled. Money was being passed around, and some exchanges even turned aggressive. You knew Jeno had probably wanted you to stick around for your lashings, but this was your queue to get the fuck out of there. You grab Ryujin's hand and try to lead her away from the ever-increasingly aggravated crowd. You navigate through groups of people as you hurry towards the exit.Â
On your way, you trip over your stupid heels that Ryujin convinced you to wear and accidentally bump shoulders with someone. You find your footing and apologize. You try to walk away, pulling Ryujin behind you, but feel a rough hand on your shoulder pulling you back.
âWhere do you think your going?â a gravelly voice calls out.
âI already apologized; let me go,â you grit out, trying to pull away from the man. He was a little bit taller than you and was twice your age. You noticed the wad of cash in one of his hands and the sickishly sweet smile on his face, and you figured he must have placed a winning bet.
âDon't be like that; how about I take you and your friend here out and we go somewhere privateâ he says while flashing his money. âOf course you'll have to work for it if you want a tip,â he says repulsively.
From the corner of your eye, you see Jeno pushing through the crowd. The look on his face gives you the chills.Â
âDonât be scared, baby; I don't bite,â the man says.Â
Oh, youâre not scared of him; your scared for him.
You know what's coming before it happens, and the man is on the ground in seconds. His money flits through the air before joining him on the ground. The man is clutching his face, and before Jeno can get his hands on him again, men dressed in all black pull the man to his feet and drag him out. You figured they must have been something like security.Â
Everything happens so fast, but all you know is that you and Ryujin are both being pulled by an angry Jeno deeper into the building into some back room. Ryujin looks a bit shaken, but you assure her everything is okay now.
It was dark and chilly in the room. The cement walls offered no warmth as you stood in the middle of what you assumed to be an old locker room. The back of the building was really coming apart; water leaked from the ceiling, and it smelled like mildew. No one really occupies the space anymore.Â
Now occupying the space were Jeno, currently trying to reel in his nerves as he drags a hand down his face; Ryujin, shifting from one foot to another awkwardly; and you, who crossed your arms definitely over your chest as you waited for Jenoâs reprimanding.
âYou know what I'm going to say,â he huffs.
âI'm sorry, it's really not her fault I'm the one who drug her here; I didn't realize how dangerous it would beâ Ryujin tried to defend you, but she didn't know Jeno like you did. He wasnt one for excuses.
âWho are you?â He asks dismissively. Â
Jeno had never met Ryujin before. Ryujin had only heard about him through the stories you would tell her about growing up with him and your brother.
âIm a friend; we didnât come here without a reason we wanted toââ She says but doesnt get to finish
"Jeno, dont be rude. She was only trying to help.â You interrupt. You could not have her bring that up now; you needed his attention back on you.Â
âI'm sorry, Ryujin. Can you give us a moment?â He sighs in apology.
Ryujin gives you a look but takes the hint and doesn't push the topic again. She reluctantly walks to the door and waits outside the room.Â
Once the door shuts behind her, Jeno wastes no time telling you off. âI dont know why your here or whats going on but you need to leave. You know better than this,â he scolds
You wanted to jump off a cliff. This is absolutely not how you wanted to meet him again. You had imagined this meeting a thousand times in your head. When you finally reconnected, you were supposed to show him how mature you had gotten. This whole fiasco definitely sets you back 10 steps.Â
âI wouldn't be here âŚI wouldn't be dressed like this if I had known we would end up here. It was a mistake. We'll leave, ok?" You say arms crossed and closed off as you dig your heel into the ground.
Even after all this time, he still had a soft spot for you. No matter how hard he tried to be stern with you, one look at the pout on your face made him feel bad. He walks over and closes the small distance between you two. He engulfs you in a hug, and youâre reminded of home. He reminds you so much of your past that it makes you nostalgic. He kisses the top of your head affectionately and lets go, and youâre reminded just how smelly and musty he is as his sticky skin peels from yours.
âGross,â you grumble
âI think you'll live,â he jokes with a smile. He's a lot calmer now. He leans down to meet your gaze âI'm sorry for being hard on you; I was just worried. You popped up out of nowhere after all this time.
It was so easy to fall back in step with him. You want to tell him everything; all you want is for him to fix everything, but you are no longer that little girl, and you are determined to prove it.Â
Youâre deep in thought when he asks, âIs everything OK, Storm?â
Your heart skips a beat at the nickname; you haven't heard that in awhile. He's always called you that; when you asked him why, he told you it was because you would stir up so much trouble wherever you went, growing up like a storm. It may have sounded negative, but he didnât mean it like that. He always said it affectionately.Â
âI'm fine; Ryujin brought me here because I said I missed home. She wanted to take me around to some familiar places. I guess she didn't know what really went down at this placeâ You try to cover up the truth.
Your campus wasn't too far from your hometown, and you go home almost every weekend, but hopefully Jeno doesnât know that and buys the story.Â
He looks a bit sceptical. "Lately, its been hard to come by you,â he says âAre you sure your not in any trouble?â
"I've just been busy with school; its nothing really,â you explain.
He just nods, and you know he does not believe it, but he doesnât pry either. âLets get you home; it's getting lateâÂ
When you open the door, Ryujin falls forward, clearly listening in and she gives you a sheepish smile. You grab her arm and pull her along as jeno personally escorts you out and to ryujin's car.
He holds your door open for you and watches as you clamber inside before buckling your seat belt and closing your door for you. You internally groan in annoyance. He was never going to see you as anything but the 7th grade version of you that he first met. The girl needed her brother to save her from herself.Â
You are grown now!
He can practically see the words printed on your forehead as he huckles to himself. He didnât care; he would always take care of you, no matter how much you hated him for it.
He motions for you to roll down the window before leaning into the car and caressing your face affectionately with his rough, bruised hand. You decide right then that you would never let him get hurt for your sake. Heâs fought enough.
âIf you need anything, call, ok?â He says this before drawing his hand back. You don't respond, and he quirks an eyebrow.
"Ok,â You grumbleÂ
âYou have my number, right?â
âYes!â You say a bit louder in annoyance.
"Ok, ok, I'm just checking, you never reach out, I just want to make sure your okay,â he continuesÂ
âActually, can I take your number? I'm practically her guardian now. I'll make sure to keep you updated if she needs anythingâ Your friend butts in with a smile.
Jeno happily gives her his number, and you just sit in the passenger seat like a child, watching as your parents fuss over you.
You are grown now!
Mondays are the worst days of the week, not because you have to go back to classes. You loved class, you loved learning and you loved your teachers. It wasnât until college that you found out that you really enjoyed learning. Yuta would have definitely laughed at you if you told him that in high school.Â
Yuta was the reason you hated Mondays. Mondays were the worst because they meant no more hiding. You couldn't stay in all day; you had to go to class, and that meant running into the devil. You were lucky enough to only have one class with Yuta, and that class only met on Mondays.Â
You find your way to your seat at the back of the class, hoping to hide away from him, but you know he will find you. You felt his presence as he slipped into the seat next to you.Â
âMorning doll, did you get my text?âÂ
You hated when he texted you; it was always a disturbing photo. Last time you opened a text from him, it was a video of him fucking some girl in a dark alleyway. In the video, he made the girl drop to her knees and open her mouth. He pressed the barrel of his gun into her mouth and made her suck it off. âWish this was youâ was the text he sent after the video.
Since then, you have made it a point not to open his texts, but it seems like he wasn't going to let this one go.
âIâve been busy; i hadnt had the chance toâ
"Well, that's no good doll; why don't you open it now?â he smirks wickedly.
âI dont thinkââ
âOpen it,â The playfulness slips off of his face and replaced with seriousnessÂ
You never noticed it before, but Yuta could be terrifying. He never showed this side to you before, but your certain this was the side everyone else saw. He made a promise to follow you to the end of the earth, and so far he has kept true to it.Â
He had gone from being your high schoolâs bad boy to the campusâs star athlete. Yuta had completely rebranded himself after graduation, and it made it even harder to report him. No one would believe you. He would just spin the story and make you out to be some bitter ex, making up lies to try to ruin his college career.
With shaky hands, you unlock your phone and go to your messages, clicking on the conversation with the unsaved number attached to it. There, you find a video waiting for you. You turn your volume all the way down and hit play. This time, it was a video of you a few nights ago, exiting the gym with Ryujin and Jeno. The camera work was shaky, and it seemed to have been taken from behind a car or a bushr? You couldnt tell but your heart was beating outside your chest.
Your eyes are glued to the screen as you feel a firm hand caress your tense shoulder until it grips the back of your neck. "Now why does it look like my doll is cheatingâ You freeze in place as your mouth hangs open. âWho is that?â he asks.
You had no idea he was following you. How long had he been following you? The grip on your neck tightens.
âAnswer me,â he whispers cruelly, his eyes darkening with rage.
âHeâs no oneâ tears well up in your eyes. Ryujin was right; this was getting out of hand.
âLet me catch you with him again; I'll make you regret it,â he whispers. He kisses the side of your head and breathes in the scent of your shampoo. He releases you, and you release the breath you had been holding.Â
You can barely pay attention to anything your professor is saying; you just stare blankly at the front of the room.
You sent Ryujin a text to meet you in the library. You hated to dump all of this on her but you had to talk to someone. You could already tell she was frustrated with you about the situation, but she was the only one you could confide in. With her around, you didn't feel so alone in this.Â
âHe did what?!â
âIts ok, if I do what he says, everything will be fine; i have it under control,â you reply sheepishly
âNo! You need to report his creepy ass to the cops!â she yells in disbelief.
âKeep it down; weâre in a library,â you remind her
âDont try to change the subject,â she whispersÂ
âI'll figure this outâÂ
âWe will figure this out.â she says, grabbing your hand and giving it a supportive squeeze.
When she lets go of your hand, hers slip under the table. You don't see it, but sheâs texting someone, typing furiously before hitting send.
You try not to be mad at Ryujin, but you can't believe she went behind your back and snitched. Now, here in front of you, sits the last man on earth that you want to worry. Ryujin mouths a sorry and sends you an apologetic look. Jeno had arrived about ten minutes earlier, and he looked to be trying to keep his calm before confronting the matter.
âIs this some intervention?â you joke to lighten the mood.Â
âRyujin told me everything; do you think this is a joke?â He questioned, trying to stay patient with you. âWhy didnt you tell me soonerâ
You sigh, feeling ashamed. Everything was always so tense between you two. You had grown apart over the years, and it was difficult to think he was once like a second brother to you. But time was not the only factor to blame; high school also played a part. Puberty changed everything. It changed you, it changed jeno, and it definitely changed how you felt towards him. You had such a massive crush on him in high school that even your brother found it hard to ignore. You made Jaemin swear to secrecy and never tell a soul. If you had known Ryujin was going to call Jeno, you would have sucked it up and reached out to your brother.
You didnât want Jeno to get involved. You kept telling yourself you didn't want him to get hurt, but you had to be honest with yourself. There was another reason you didn't want to ask for his help, and it was because you were still embarrassed. Anything was better than sitting in front of the man who rejected you.Â
Summer freshman year of highschool
You thought you had finally grown up in his eyes; you thought your newfound curves were enough to make him see you as more than âJaemâs little sister.â You thought you could fool yourself into believing you had a chance.Â
It wasnt abnormal for jeno to sleep over at your place during highschool. He would crash in Jaeminâs room and eat breakfast with your family, like he lived there. One night, you catch him alone and tell him how you feel. You waited for him outside the bathroom. He was showering, and you were certain your brother was too engulfed in his game to interrupt you. Jeno had exited the bathroom wearing sweats and a tanktop, drying his hair with a towel. He had almost walked right by, not noticing you. You stood in front of him wearing a similar white tanktop and sleeping shorts, your nipples poking through the fabric of your shirt. You were so sure you would have his attention, but he just tentatively acknowledged you.
âIm sorry, was i taking too long?â he asked apologetically
"No, i actually wanted to talk to you about somethingâ
He just nods his head and waits for you to continue
âI really like you, and I was hoping I could spend more time with you... just uh⌠the two of us,â you said shyly, unable to find the right words.
You couldnt meet his eye and stare at a random spot on the carpet
You felt a gentle hand stroke your head affectionately. You look up, hopefully but your world comes crashing down with his next few words
âYour like a sister to me; of course we can hang out more,â he smiles brightly, unknowingly ripping your heart out
Ever since that night, you have avoided him like the plague.
âI just didn't want to worry you or jaem.â you say, ashamed.
âI won't tell him but if you think I'm going to sit back and let this happen, your wrongâ
âI didnât think it was that much of an issue yet.â you say, picking at your sleeves.
Jenos eyes harden with disbelief âAre you serious? Not much of an issue?â he grits âHes threatening youâ
"Ok, ok, your right; I shouldn't be taking this lightlyâ You try to soothe things over with a weak smile.
âGive me your phone,â he says, holding out his hand
You unlock it and hand it to him, unsure of what he's going to do. After messing around with it, he hands it back. âI blocked him; dont even think about texting him again.â he warns
âJeno! I have to; hes going to be pissed!â You take your phone back, looking through your messages, but youâre unable to find the conversation again. You didn't realize how much control he had over you. You thought all you had to do was follow his orders, and you would be alright; one day he would just get bored of you and stop.Â
âDon't you hear yourself? Your scared!â he yells. He hated seeing you like this. He promised Jaemin that he would watch after you, but here he was, blind to the cruelty that you had endured. âOnce this is all over, I'm telling Jaem.âÂ
(ÂŹ_ÂŹ) snitchÂ
He gets up, preparing to leave, while both you and Ryujin stare at each other. Well, you glare at her while she communicates a response with her eyes in return. He doesnât turn to leave before saying one last thing: âKeep your phone on you at all times, and I'll be walking you from your classes from here on out,â he states sternly.Â
âI dont know if thatâs a good idea; he told me notââ
âAre you more afraid of him or me?â he asks you
Point taken.
You wait until Jeno is out of earshot before you whisper yell at your friend, âI told you not to tell him!â
âI had to! I was worriedâ
"Well, great, now he's worried and probably thinks I'm an irresponsible idiot!â
"Well, you are,â she counters, âwhats your deal anyway? You seriously think Yuta is just going to leave you alone? He's gonna end up killing you!â she scolds.
You take a moment to process her words. She had a point, but she didn't know Yuta like you did; neither of them did. He was dangerous. You just wanted to keep your friends safe, but you might have gotten in over your head.
You finally make it to your destination; you drove to the old gym, hoping to find Jeno. You could have called or texted him, but you knew it would be easier to get your point across in person. You had at least wanted to let him know what he was getting himself into. Yuta was dangerous, and no matter how strong Jeno was, he wasn't bulletproof.
You park your cute little beetle and cringe; you definitely didn't belong in this scene, and everyone around was going to know it. A sticker-bombed Volkswagen Beetle in the middle of the parking lot of a broken-down and shady gym? Perfect combo!
Luckily, there were only a few cars tonight. You figured it must not be fight night, and you prayed that you found Jeno inside. You gather up your courage and march inside. You make your way down a narrow hallway that opens up into the main gym, and that's where you find him. There were a few other fighters occupying the space, but they seemed to be wrapping up. Jeno must not be the only one who comes here to let off steam, you assume.Â
"Oh, who's this cute thing?â one of the guys says as you catch his eye on his way out.
âI wouldn't do that if I were you Haechan; thats Jenos Girl,â another voice says, coming up behind him before slinging an arm over his shoulder. âExcuse him,â he says politely before pulling Haechan away and scolding him.
The one that wasnât Haechan was there the night Jeno punched that weirdo out. Apparently the whole gym knew you as Jenoâs girl, according to his rambling. Their arguing fades away and the last thing you hear before complete silence is âGet off me Renjun your mustyâ
You laugh to yourself before scanning the room, and you bring your eyes back to the man nestled in the corner. He's facing a punching bag with his hands tightly wrapped and his headphones secure on his head. He wasn't still for a second, staying light on his feet as he threw a few hooks at the bag.Â
You were almost afraid to accidentally sneak up on him because that would not end well. You stay cautious and keep a safe distance, choosing to call his name a few times to get his attention. Your practically screaming, but he can't hear you. You wonder what brand of headphones he had because that noise cancellation was crazy! You choose a different approach and spot a disregarded boxing glove on a side table. You walk the short distance, grab the item and chunk it at the back of Jenoâs head.Â
Now clearly, you werenât trying to poke a bear. You were aiming more towards his broad shoulders, given that was a better target, but your aim was off, and you almost knocked the expensive-looking headphone off his head.
Jeno whips around angrily, opening his mouth to curse, but stops himself short once he notices you. He settles for a deep, exasperated sigh and a sharp glare. He must have been at it for awhile because he was drenched in sweat, and his bangs hung messily in his eyes and were dripping sweat. He pushed the wet hair back from his eyes, showing his forehead. He looked so good when he was angry; his eyes were narrowed dangerously, and his chest heaved heavily.
âWhy are you fucking with me?â He says this, coldly pulling his headphones off his ears and letting them hang around his neck "You better have a good reason for being here when there is a psycho after you. I clearly remember telling you to stay away from this place?âÂ
Oh yeah, you definitely poked the bear. Hes pissed.
âAre you sure you want to get involved?â You try to find your words. âYuta isnt like the little boys you and jaemin used to beat up in highschoolâ
âYou could never keep yourself out of trouble, huh?â
âI'm not asking for your help!â
âDrop the act for once, would you? Your not tough so stop acting like it!â
âIâm not being tough; I just don't want to be a bother! I'm not the same kid! When Iâm falling, you always save me, and I'm sick of it. I'm sick of being weak. I don't need your help, so why donât you drop the older brother act? Your barely even older than me!â You pitch back
âJaemin told me to look out for you so thats what im doing,â he huffsÂ
âAnd that's your only reason, right? Your just looking out for me because my brother said soâ you scoff, trying to keep the hurt out of your voice. " How about this? I take you in the ring and show you what I got. Let me show you I can take care of myselfâ You cross your arms and send him a defiant look.
âAre you seriouslyââ he cuts himself off, shaking his head in disbelief âYou know what fine. Show me what you gotâ
You smile in triumph and walk over to the center of the gym, where the ring sits. You take off your shoes and crawl inside. The mat felt cool under your feet; it was a grounding sensation, and just once you understood why Jeno loved standing in it, even if it meant fighting. You scan the gym, and memories fill in all the rust, broken pipes and holes in the wall as you remember what the gym used to be. Your stuck in a trance until you feel something soft but firm hit you in the head, knocking you from your daydream.
âThat was paybackâŚ. but you also need to be mindful of your surroundings. Not starting off so well, angel,â Jeno says, shaking his head as he adjusts the punching mitts over his hands.Â
Youâre brought back to the present and finally notice the boxing gloves at your feet. You get the memo and put them on.Â
âThis can't be too hard,â you mutter to yourself.
Your both centered in the ring and you focus on jenos movements. You grew up being dragged to almost all of your brother's matches; you figured you had watched long enough to catch on to some moves. You throw a punch at Jenos mitt, and he cushions the blow. He lets you get comfortable throwing a few punches before he counters. He makes his movements very big and obvious; you can see his strike from a mile away. You weave under it and throw a punch at his gaurding mitt.Â
Hes going easy on you
You continue to spar, and Jeno is in full coach mode. He's guiding you in the correct stance and helping you learn what to look for when someone strikes. You've been at it for about 30 minutes now, and you've gotten faster at dodging and reading his movements. Heâs still going extremely easy on you, but upping the ante just a little. You were completely absorbed in the lesson.
âNice hook, put you jab lacks power,â he instructs.
You were good at putting your body into your hooks, but you just couldn't build enough momentum for a strong jab. You try again, but it falls flat, and Jeno shakes his head.Â
âFollow through; come on, try it again,â he encourages you. You take a breath and send a jab into his mitt. Still not enough.Â
Jeno takes off the mitts and moves in closer towards you.
"Here, watch me,â he says, raising his gaurd and striking the air. âYou want to step into it, see?â He shows you again, a little bit slower.
You give a determined hum and copy his movement, but you can tell by Jenoâs face that you're missing the mark.Â
"Ok, come here; let me show youâ Jeno moves in behind you and grabs your arms. He helps you fix your posture and you instantly heat up at the contact. You try to keep it together, but the way his chest was pressed up against your back and the way he was breathing heavily in your ear had you reeling. "Ok, now focus, step into it and jab.âÂ
He moves one hand down to your waist and pushes you forward, guiding your step, while the other helps you jab. He was so close. You wanted to blame the sudden weakness in your limbs on the endless training he has you doing, but you know its from the heat of his body.
âAre you okay? That one was really weak. Are you shaking?â Jeno looks at you from over your shoulder, worried.Â
You meet his gaze and nod silently. He's so close. His lips are a breath away, and all you have to do is turn your head to meet his lips. The hand holding your waist travels up your side and grabs your chin. He tilts your head up a little, and his lips are meeting yours. You turn in his grasp and kiss him back. His lips are so soft, and when you pull away, you immediately miss the feeling of his lips on yours.Â
âI'm sorry; I shouldn't have done that,â he says softly.
Before you can protest, he pulls away from you, cleans up the equipment you two used, and calls it a night. You let him walk you to your car, and you say nothing before you drive away. If it wasn't awkward before, it definitely would be now.
How could he kiss you and then pretend like nothing happened? Youâre too embarrassed to bring it up again. Does this count as being rejected for a second time? Nah, he kissed you; you're not taking another L.Â
It had been a week so far, and Jeno had shown up promptly to all your classes. He shouldered your bags and carried your books as you both walked across campus. Neither of you brought up the kiss, but fortunately, it wasn't awkward anymore. He had started teaching you to defend yourself at the gym sometimes after class. Those moments felt the most intimate. You could feel his passion when he taught you, and it warmed you in all the right places. You two talked about everything in these moments. You shared embarrassing memories from high school, and he told you stories about Jaemin that you would never let your brother live down. You talked about everything but the kiss. You wonder if he regretted it?
The funny thing about college was that the classrooms were so big and there were so many students that it was hard to keep track of who was who. That's how Jeno ended up in youâre lecture every Monday. It was the only class you had with Yuta, and Jeno wasnât taking any chances. You told him it wasn't a good idea, and the eyes burning into the back of your head were proof of that. Jeno was by your side the entire period, and to onlookers, you two probably looked like a couple. He had scooted your chair directly next to him and was practically shoulder to shoulder with you.Â
âBack up; I can feel you breathing down my neckâÂ
âI want to see what your doingâ
Jeno didn't go to college. He mainly just worked during the day and fought on the weekends for extra cash. His parents were absent for the most part, and he kind of took care of himself growing up. He didn't really have a support system growing up, and that was one of the main reasons he found himself at your house. The only other place he felt safe was the gym. You could only imagine how devastated he was when it shut down. You can understand why he decided to stick around when things turned shady. Jeno earned enough money to support himself, so he never felt the need to go to college, which is why Jaemin didn't feel to bad about dumping you off on his shoulder.
âI can't concentrate Jen,â you scold.
He spends half the class peaking over your shoulder as you work and the other half asleep on the desk. Some guard dog he was.
Yuta didn't bother you during class anymore, and you were grateful. You could finally focus on bringing your grades back up, but you couldn't shake the feeling that he was plotting against you the entire time. After class, he would hang out in the library or, if you had a long day, the gym before returning to pick you up.
Later that day, Jeno was supposed to meet you after your econ class, which was your last class of the day, but you were surprised to not see him silently leaning up against the wall opposite the door. You try your best to calm your nerves as you try to decide if you should wait for him or not. You tried not to freak out; he was probably fine. Maybe he thought you could handle walking yourself home for once; you couldn't expect him to be there all the time. Not to mention you hadn't run into Yuta anywhere other than class. Â
Your last class ends late, and the sun has already gone down, so you were really reluctant to leave without Jeno. You try your best to channel the old you, the one that ran with bad crowds, the one who feared no one and nothing, and the newer you, who had trained with Jeno and learned how to protect yourself. You put on your best face and begin trekking home.
As you walked, you realized It wasn't so bad; you had honestly forgotten how nice it felt to just walk around by yourself and clear your head. You were enjoying your walk home, and you were about two blocks from your dorm when you felt something in the air shift. Suddenly, you didn't feel so alone. You try to pick up your pace as subtly as possible and pull your phone from your bag. You dial Jenoâs number with quickness and wait for him to pick it up. You can feel the person behind youâs steps quicken.Â
Come on, please
You beg internally as you break out into a small jog. Screw being subtle; someone was clearly following you. You didnât dare chance a look over your shoulder as you cut across a lawn; his phone went to voicemail, and you dialed again. The person behind you is right on your heels and you drop your phone as a firm hand grabs your arm. Your first reflex is to scream, but you remember Jenos teachings: you jab your elbow as hard as you can into the attacker's ribs. Your about to break his grip when you hear a familiar groan. You turn around to look at your attacker, and you notice its just Jeno.
He's looking at you with a worried expression, like he didn't just chase you for a full block.
âWhat are you doing!?âÂ
âI was trying to catch up to you!â He lets you go and holds his ribs, groaning in pain.
âWhy didn't you pick up weirdo? I thought someone was going to get me!â
âI was running late and left my phone at home; I thought you would at least wait for me,â he states
You calm your nerves and sign in relief. You shake off your backpack and shove it into his chest.
âDont be late again; what if something had happenedâ
âYou know I would never let anything happen to you, right?â His eyebrows furrow, and he looks into your eyes. He needs you to know that he would throw down everything to make sure you were okay.
âI know thatâ Your heart skips a beat, and he grabs your hand reassuringly. You were grateful for the night sky because you could feel your face heating up.
"Good,âÂ
You finally arrive at your off-campus dorm and make your way inside. Your roommate didn't seem to be home yet; typically, she came home late because she had to work late at her job so you were grateful for the time you had alone with jeno.Â
It isn't until he sets your things down and you flick on a few lights that you see a few bruises and cuts on his face. It was not surprising to see Jeno bruised up, given his fighting background, but these appeared to be from a recent fight. When he notices your gaze, he turns to hide his face and begins unpacking your bag and arranging your study materials.
Jeno had insisted a few days ago that he stick around a little after he drops you off. He insisted it was for your protection so you guys started studying together. Well, you started studying; Jeno just watched you or took a nap next to you on the sofa.Â
âWe should start soon; it's getting late,â he says, trying to redirect your attention.
You refuse to let it go though and move in closer to get a better look. âWho did this?â you say as you gently caress his face, moving it around to examine the damage
âI had a match the otherââ
âDon't lie to me,â you urge
âHe sent some guys after me,â jeno confesses
Your heart drops. This is exactly why you didnât want him to get involved. Its like he can read your thoughts because he immediately tries to ease your worry.
âCalm down; this is nothing. You know me, I can hold my own,â he says
You didn't respond.
âI took care of them; you dont have to worryâ
You stare at him incredulously âIs that why you were late today?âÂ
"Maybe,â he winces
âJeno!â you scold. âWas Yuta there?â
âI tried to look for him after, but apparently he had an away game tonight,â he answers.Â
âLet me clean you upâÂ
Jeno wasn't that much taller than you, probably just a few inches, but you found it easier to work on the cuts on his face by sitting on the counter. You already had your materials prepped; you kept a first aid kit on hand at all times; it was a habit you couldn't shake. This wasn't the first time you found yourself in this position with Jeno; you had always cleaned him and your brother up during childhood. You felt terrible; you worked in a silence that Jeno kept trying to break. Anytime he would open his mouth to speak, you would dab at his lip with more ointment to shut him up until he got the memo. He kept trying to cheer you up and you werent in the mood
He winces at your touch, and you immediately let up and give a short apology. You go back in with a lighter hand and add a bandage. As many punches as he takes, you would think a little peroxide wouldn't hurt. You were done fixing him up, and you busy yourself with putting your kit back together, ignoring the eyes that bore into you. You wanted to leave and put some distance between you but he wouldnt step from between your legs.Â
âHey, look at me.â he calls out to you.Â
You could not bring yourself to look at him; each scar on his face reminded you that it was your fault that he was hurt.Â
âIts not your faultâ its like he was reading your mind.
"Yes, it is! I shouldnt have gotten you involved! I should have just called Jaem.â
âYou would rather see Jaemin beat up?â He jokes, trying to lighten the mood.
âHe would have at least deserved it,â you say, rolling your eyes and thinking of all the times he tormented you growing up.
A comfortable silence falls between you two after sharing a laugh. He was so close, but you reached out like he was going to disappear. You tentatively caress his bruised cheek; he leans into your touch, and the look he gives you gives you butterflies. He looked at you like you were the most precious thing in the world.Â
âI like being near you;Â donât push me away againâ
"Jeno,â you say, shocked by his confession
âI dont want us to go back to the way things were Iâ
You push him away before jumping down from the counter; you don't want to hear anymore. You had a feeling you knew what he was getting at. After all this time and all the hurt, now he likes you!?
âYou were the one who made it like this! Made US like this. I told you how I felt all those years ago, and you rejected me!â you argue
âWhat are you talkingââ
âDrop it,â you demand, trying to leave the bathroom, but he stands in the doorway, blocking your path.
âWhat did you mean? When did I ever reject you?â Jeno tries, but you ignore his gaze until he grips your chin and forces you to look at him.
âStop being like that and answer me.â he says.
You were tired of holding your tongue; you might as well get it over with. âDo you remember that time during highschool? When you stayed with us the whole summer?â you worry your lip. âI told you I liked you and you said I was like a sister to you,â you heave out in one big breathe
Jeno takes a moment to process your words, and he finally says, âI had no idea that was what you meant back then. I thought you hated me since I was always over. I thought the âI like youâ was more of an âI like you aroundâ,â Jeno explains.
âWhy would I hate you?â You ask in shock
âJaemin used to always drag me around to scare off your boyfriends; I thought you might have hated me for that. You never really went out of your way to speak to me, I guess? I asked Jaemin if you hated me that same night, and he told me no. Then I ran into you in the hallway, and you suddenly told me you liked me, so I figured he told you to set things straight?âÂ
He wasn't wrong; back then, you kept to yourself and watched from afar. You hoped you could make him come to you. You were too scared to approach him, so you did everything you could to get his attention. You got into trouble, so he and Jaemin would have to come to your rescue. You dated all those guys to make him jealous. This whole time, you thought he couldn't care less about you, but it seems the whole time he was worried you hated him.Â
"Well, that doesnt change the fact that you only see me like a little sisterâÂ
âI kind of did, at first. You were my best friend, little sister, and I had to see you that way. Jaemin would kill me if I didn't. But I can't, not anymore. Truthfully, I never had.â He caressed your face and pressed his forehead against yours âI'm sorry if this is all confusing for you. I know it has been for me, but can we just try something?â He holds your eye contact, and your faces are so close that you can feel his breath. He smelled so good; the minty scent of his tooth paste mixed with the natural musk of his skin was driving you crazy. You had waited for a moment like this for almost forever.
âAnything; I'll do anything with you,â you say, almost forgetting to breathe.
He pushes you back and sets you on the counter again as he leans in and caresses your lips softly with his, teasing you like he has been doing for the past few years. You cannot take it anymore; you cannot wait anymore, so you take the dive. You press your lips fervently against his, causing him to hiss slightly from the sting, but when you try to pull back to apologize, he grips the back of your neck and reconnects your lips again. He moans into your mouth as you lick the cut on his lip, which will undoubtedly scar apologetically. You try to kiss him more gently but when he feels your hesitance, he pulls away just for a second to whisper, âdonât hold backâ
Your hands find their way into his hair and his find their way under your thighs, hiking them up and around his waist. Things were getting heated fast, and you could hardly breathe. Everything you ever wanted was coming to fruition right in front of your eyes. When he finally pulls away to catch his breath, he does not waste any time kissing your neck. The force of his kisses makes you weak, and you have to lean against the mirror behind you to stay upright.Â
You could hardly keep up; your limbs felt like they weighed a ton, and you could hardly hold your head up. The way he was rolling his hips into yours made your breath start to make condensation on the mirror as you laid your face on the cool glass. Jeno eventually found your lips again after his short exploration and claimed them hungrily.
âWhat's gotten into my baby? You can't handle it?â he teases
This was the first time heâs called you that, and it was driving your heart beat up dangerously.
âDon't worry, I'll take care of you, like I always do,â he murmurs against your lips before leaving you with a peck.Â
He pulls you off the counter as he leads you to your bed. You were in a daze; your brain was running hot, and you couldn't even think of anything but the feeling of his hands caressing your sides from under your shirt.Â
âTell me you want itâ Your eyes flutter a bit at his tone. He sounded so good. You needed him inside of you; that was the only thing you could think of.
âI need you inside,â you moan with a roll of your hips
âGotta get you ready for that first,â he says as he begins to strip you of your clothes before he follows with his own.
You definitely had brain fog but the sight infront of you cleared it up. He looked so good, you had to bite your tongue before you let out an embarrassing sound. His broad shoulders and slim waist hovered over you tauntingly, like his body was begging you to mark it. His length stood proud against his abdomen, and you had to will yourself to meet his dark graze again. When he licks his lips, you pout and give him a "hurry up" look.
He wastes no time and starts stretching you out over his fingers. You return every kiss and nip he gave you earlier and more. You mark up his neck with kisses and bites and leave pretty claw marks down his back and chest as he works his fingers in and out of you skillfully. He had to bite back the groans that threatened to leave his mouth as you gushed all over his fingers. He couldnt wait to feel you around his cock. You feel yourself getting so close. You roll your hips as he scissors you open. He senses how close you are and hooks his fingers as they drag deliciously against your walls. You finish all over his fingers.
âYou must have been so pent-up, baby; that didn't take long at all?â he coos teasingly
You shoot him a glare and retaliate by wrapping your legs around his waist, locking him into place. You grab his length and stroke it. You give him a few sensual pumps before you crack. You wanted to tease him like he's been torturing you, but you couldn't keep waiting; you needed him inside so you slipped him in. He chuckles softly at your failed attempt to get back at him and pecks your lips affectionately. You shudder at the feeling, and your walls are squeezing him so tight that the soft patterns he was drawing on your skin turn into harsh grasps of your hips while his soft chuckling turns into a surprised gasp. He moans softly as he tries to ground himself.
âYou want it bad, huh?â he tries to get you to beg but it comes out more whiney than domineeringÂ
âNo more waiting; if you wont do anything, I'll do it myself,â you threaten.Â
He finds your threat cute and has decided to take mercy on you. He strokes slowly at first, making sure youâre not hurting or uncomfortable. You loved this man, and you loved how much he cared for you, but right now you didn't want that. Despite his constant nagging, he has always been nothing but gentle with you for as long as you can remember. You don't want that side of him. You want it rough.
âDont hold back,â you mirror his words from earlier âyou wont break me,â you reassure him when you see worry settle into his features
âWhat if I do?â
âI want you to,â you whisper backÂ
That seems to do the trick because now he was hoisting your hips up, tilting them to fuck into you as deep as he could. Your lower half is lifted from the mattress and all you can do is hold on to the sheets. He was thrusting in deep, craving as much contact as possible.Â
You try to match his pace and fuck back on him, but you grow tired and just settle for taking everything he gives you.
He sets your hips back down before yanking one of your legs over his shoulder. He starts back up again, and you can see the way his veins strain against his arms at the force he's using to fuck you. You were sure to have pretty bruises in the shape of his hands in the morning. The bed creaked loudly as he pounded you into the mattress, and you prayed that Ryujin wasnât home yet.Â
It was like he couldn't keep his hands off of you; they were never still on your body. First they were grasping your hips, holding you steady as he drilled you, then they were grasping at your breasts, and finally one of them took a purchase wrapped around the base of your neck. He wasnât applying much pressure; he was just holding it there.
Your walls flutter around his cock and hw tightens his grip around your neck at the feeling. He can tell youâre about to cum and when you do, he has to hold you down with his other hand. The lack of air triggers your survival responses and heightened senses, making you feel everything tenfold. The burn against your throat hurts, but the pain mixes with the pleasure to give you a beautiful ending. You can tell by the sticky warmth that fills you and the groan that follows that Jeno wasn't far behind at all. He rolls off of you and plops down on the space beside you to catch his breath. You pull yourself up and start to get out of bed before he grabs your arm.
âWhere are you going?â He asks as hurt crosses his features.
âI need the bathroom,â you explain, sleepy âThis is my house anyway; you thought I was going to leave?â You joke with a laugh
Jeno visibly relaxes for a second before he too gets out of bed. He makes his way over to you and helps you to the bathroom. You go to the bathroom, and he runs a bath, and you realize how much more domestic your relationship has become in the last few weeks, to the point where it feels natural.
He helps you into the bath and slips in behind. You two talk more in the bath as he pampers you. You have never felt more at home than when you were wrapped in Jenoâs arms. When you get out, he lays you back on the bed before cuddling up beside you. You study his face, and for the first time in awhile, you take a good, long look. If you looked close enough, you could still see traces of the boy you knew all those years ago under the man that stared back at you. For some reason, that made everything hurt. You knew Jeno would do anything to protect you, but who would protect him? With Jaemin gone, all he had was you. You shut your eyes at the thought.
You don't know what your thinking; you just knew you had to be strong and that you were going to put an end to this tonight. You didnât have his number anymore, but you always knew where to find him.Â
It was getting late, and instead of heading to the gym for your weekly training with Jeno, you were on the other side of town. You hug your jacket tighter to your chest, bracing yourself against the cold winds of the night. When you turn a corner, the flashing neon lights almost blind you.

Chance Karoake
You open the door to the front of the building and make your way in. You put on your brave face before trekking over to the back of the shady building. Room 0824 was your destination.Â
This was the building Yuta ran most of his deals out of. Karaoke rooms are a known hotspot for drug deals and other illegal trades. It was rare to see Yuta here now due to the fact that he had to keep his image clean but you knew his schedule and you knew when he would pop in. Dont get him wrong; yuta wasnt some big-shot crime boss, he was just some kid who dealt in shady business.Â
You knock on the door and wait. When the door swings open, a cloud of smoke hits you in the face. The room stinks of weed and disposables, the smoke burning your eyes as you try to focus on the figure in front of you.Â
Cheshire grin meets an apprehensive frown as you stand face-to-face with Yuta.
âWelcome home, dollâ
You feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins at the man standing in front of you, the source of so much trouble in your life. The atmosphere is tense, filled with the lingering smell of drugs and the weight of unspoken threats. You knew this was your chance to finally confront him and put an end to this dangerous game you've been forced to play. With a steely glance, you lock eyes with Yuta and prepare yourself for the confrontation that will determine the course of your future.
âDon't call me thatâ You push past him and enter the room. There is plenty of sitting room on the couch, but youâre too anxious, so you decide to stand. A few of his friends occupy the room, and he doesn't have to tell them twice to leave the two of you alone.
Even after all this time and all your history together, you cannot bring yourself to look him in the eyes. Jeno was right; he terrified you. You could pretend to be brave all you wanted, but the truth was, you were just a scared little girl inside.Â
âDon't push me, doll,â he warns before wrapping slender fingers around your jaw and forcing you to look at him. âWhere's your little boyfriend? Not here to save you?â he taunts
âI want you to leave him alone,â you grit out. You had to be brave.
âYou think you can just walk in here and give me orders? You forget who you belong to?â He shakes your face in his grasp.
You rip his hand from your face and twist. No, you would not let him control you any longer. This had all gone too far. Despite feeling intimidated, you refuse to submit to his control any longer.
All you could think about was Jeno; you couldn't let him get hurt anymore because of you. You loved him more than you feared Yuta. You refuse to let him own you.
With the grasp that you have on his arm, you twist his wrist farther until hes crippling down onto his knees. As he winced in agony, you could see the fear etched on his face. With a steely resolve, you pressed harder. His cries echoed in the empty room as you held him in place, making sure he felt every ounce of pain he had caused. Your grip tightened, a silent promise that this would be the last time he hurt anyone.
âIf you want to continue playing and keep your scholarship, I suggest you leave me the hell alone. Next time you harass me, I'll break it,â you spit.
With a final, warning glare, you released your grip on his wrist. His body crumpled to the floor, gasping for breath as he clutched his throbbing wrist. You had made it clear that harassment would not be tolerated, and the threat of losing his scholarship hung heavy in the air.Â
The weight that had been dragging you down for so long began to lift, replaced by a newfound sense of confidence and self-worth. With your head held high, you strode forward. Although you know for certain that Jeno would kill you if he ever found out, you think deep down he would be proud; after all, he created this monster.
When you get home, Ryujinâs on your ass for being out so late. When she had called Jeno and he hadn't seen you either, she thought the worst had happened. You check your phone and find 10 missed calls and even more frantic text messages from Jeno.Â
You apologize for causing worry to Ryujin and explain that you lost track of time while out. You decide to quickly call Jeno back to assure him your okay.Â
You wait as the phone rings, but there is no answer. You call again, and he still doesn't pick up. Something didn't feel right, and you grabbed your keys, rushing out of the house.
âYou just got here; where are you going?â a stern Ryujin calls.
âGotta find Jeno!â you call back before hopping back into your car.
For as long as youâve known him, you knew Jeno could be a hothead sometimes. You knew the moment he heard you were missing, he went out himself to go looking for you. You drove to his house to find him. When you pull into his driveway, it's empty. You park and rush up the stairs to his apartment. You bang on the door until someone answers. You almost sigh in relief until you realize its not Jeno. The person on the other side of the door looked clearly aggravated. His black hair was messily strewn on his head, and his shirt hung off his frame like he just threw it on.Â
âCan I help you? A raspy voice calls
âUh, im looking for Jeno,â you ask the man
âHe left like an hour ago,â he yawns lazily, leaning against the door frame like he could barely stay awake. âIts almost one in the morning. Whats going on?âÂ
âIts nothing; can you call me if he shows back upâ you ask frantically. If Jeno had left an hour ago, who knows where he could be now? You give him your number, and he tells you his name is Mark. You thank him and rush back to your car. Your about to pull out when your phone lights up. Jeno was calling you back.
âHello? Jeno where have you been?â You feel a weight lift off your shoulder as you take your keys out of the ignition and slump back into your seat.Â
ââI found Yutaâ
âJenoâŚWhat did you do to him?â
âI beat his ass,â he says, âand then I made him tell me where you wereâ
âJenââ
âWhy did you think it was a good idea to go and threaten him on your own?â
âI had too. I had to do it for meâ
âWhere are youâ
âAt your apartmentâ
âStay thereâ
You get out of your car and lean up against the hood, and you wait to see his car roll down the street.Â
You breathe in the cold, crisp night air and let it soothe your nerves. You did not want to argue with Jeno, not right now. Headlights blind you as a car pulls up behind yours. You hear the engine cut off and the car door slam. As Jeno quickly approaches, you prepare yourself for the confrontation. The tension hangs heavy between you, but you take a deep breath and gather your thoughts before engaging in what could be a difficult conversation.Â
"Jeno, can we talk about thisââ You're left speechless as his lips meet yours in an unexpected kiss.
Confusion and conflicting emotions swirl within you as you reluctantly allow yourself to be swept up in the moment, momentarily forgetting all of your worries.
He pulls away and rests his forehead on yours âDon't scare me like thatâ His hands caress your face like he can't believe your standing in front of him, like he's making sure he's not dreaming. His frame is shaking, and youâre not sure if it was the cool night air or the light rain that chose this moment to fall, making him shiver.
He pulls you in for a tight hug, and your heart twists, your throat closes up, and you cry. You cry because you never want him to pull away; you cry because you realize how much he loves you; and you cry because youâre both safe.
âIm sorry Jen i didnt mean toââ
âNo excuses,â he says, shaking his head âpromiseâ
You hug him back tight and bury your head in his shoulder. âI promise I wont do anything like that againâÂ
He pulls away from you and you notice hes soaked to his bones. The rain had picked up and was now pouring down over you two; you could only imagine your clothes were in the same state. You laugh and push his wet hair out of his face.
âMark is going to kill us if we soak the carpet.â
âI think he's already upset; I woke him up earlier. Come on, lets get you out of the rainâ
He leads you inside by the hand, and you kick off your wet shoes and socks. You try your best to make your way to the bathroom to change. Jeno brings you some dry clothes, and he closes the door and changes alongside you into something more warm.
You follow him to his room with light steps, afraid of waking Mark up for a second time. You lay down next to Jeno in his bed, and you tangle your feet with his seeking warmth.
âI feel like my heart starts beating again when our hands hold each other,â he whispers
âBack then, when we drifted apart, every day felt like I was drowning. Now because you are here, I'm breathing,â you confess
He hugs you tighter and kisses the top of your head âim not going anywhereâ
And you believe him, because somehow you had always known he was your guardian angel. You close your eyes, feeling the warmth of his embrace and the reassurance in his words. In that moment, you know that no matter what challenges may come, you both can face them together. With his arms around you and his promise to stay by your side, you finally feel at peace, knowing that you have found your way back to each other.

cw: alcohol mention !
you and haechan lean against your kitchen counter after a night out, sharing a tub of ice cream in silence so as to not wake up your friends who are strewn about in your living room. youâre both slightly uncoordinated from the alcohol in your systems and it takes everything in you not to belly laugh when he gets ice cream all over his chin.
he smiles mischievously at you before reaching over and tickling your sides. you struggle to shush him through your giggles and itâs only when he stops that you realize how close you are. your hands have a mind of their own when they reach up and clasp together behind his neck. haechan wastes no time in closing the space between you, tilting his head and leaning forward.
you jolt awake just as dream haechanâs lips touch yours, sighing when real life haechan snuggles closer to you in his deep, drunken slumber.
3:52
haechan opened the door, key slipping back into his pocket as he walked into your home. he started an argument on the phone about something so useless. being the bigger person he drove all the way to your apartment to apologize to you for being rude towards you. he slowly made his way to your room, trying to get an apology together in his brain hoping youâd forgive him.
âdoll? are you sleeping?â soft knocks on your door as he carefully opened it a little bit peaking in the room. you sat on your bed with a book in your hand as you placed it in front of you giving him a quick âhuhâ. he stepped in a little more, letting himself sink down on your bed trying to get a hold of your hands but you pulled them away.
âbaby, iâm sorry i snapped at you, i never meant to get so mad at you please i love youâ he told you before caressing your cheeks with his hands pulling you closer to him. you completely gave in you just couldnât be mad at him for a long time, his face lit up hugging you tightly before placing a soft and passionate kiss on your lips.
âi love you too hyuck, iâm sorry as wellâ returning the kiss from him before dragging him next to you. his hand placed on your head while the two of you cuddle in your bed as you continued to read your book, falling asleep with haechan in your arm soon.
06:23
Donghyuck is still sleeping when you wake up.
He looks peaceful, you think. Not a common sight, you'd even call his sleeping form the eighth wonder because a conscious Donghyuck is never calm. His cheeks are puffy, lips set in a cute pout, hair a royal mess. You thread your fingers through his unruly strands in an attempt to tame them.
Donghyuck's hand is loosely thrown around your waist but you know you couldn't wiggle out of it even if you tried. Not that you want to; it's cozier this way with his legs thrown over yours and body moulded perfectly to fit against your curves.
A few stray rays of light escape through your curtains, forming a magical halo around Donghyuck's face, giving it the softest of glows. Your finger traces his many moles. He looks ethereal like this. You feel an overwhelming amount of love for this man.
You want to protect him, even though the love bites painting his bare torso, the medusa tattoo just above his waist band and his toned biceps don't call for any protection. If anything, your frangible heart is the only thing that requires a lee from the whirlwind that is your boyfriend.
"You're staring babe," and you jump, heart thudding loud and so-not-proud against your chest. The room seems hotter than it was a moment ago, the peaceful ambience destroyed by his usual playfulness. He cracks an eye open and shoots a complacent smirk in your general direction.
"You don't have to scare me like that, you creep!" You huff, embarassed to face him. You try to get out of his hold; an impossible feat because he works out and you don't. So you take refuge among the fulffiness of the many pillows thrown over your bed.
"Says the one who was staring at me," is his smug reply, which earns a slap on his toned chest. Again, he's hardly affected by it. Atleast he has the decency to pretend it hurts.
Your breathing is still audibly heavy from the shock. He runs a placating hand on your back as a quiet apology. "Good morning," he mumbles, nuzzling his nose into your hair.
"Too late for that, don't you think," you spit in lieu of a reply, no real bite in your words. He chuckles, the sound arising from what you can only imagine to be the deepest parts of him, so low, so attractive, so domestic.
He kisses your hair with an obnoxiously loud smack and then giggles like a teenage girl because he's silly like that. Silly and annoying and so, so cute, his existence stimulates your most primal urges; you love him so much your chest hurts.
And you aren't scared to let him know what he does to you. "I love you." It's out of blue, and most definitely not a regular happening. You feel him stiffen, breath catching in his throat and heart beating infinitely faster. The playfulness drains out of him, leaving a sincere man who loves you with his entire being.
His hand on your waist pulls you closer. He kisses you properly this time, lips moving against yours slowly, like he wants to savour this moment as much as you do. When you break the kiss, he rests his forehead on yours, a hand holding your cheek carefully like you are delicate china. Precious. His.
"Me too," he says breathily. Donghyuck is looking at you - your eyes, nose, lips - searching your face. And when he finds what he's looking for, "I love you too, my pretty baby. So, so, so much."

one thing i need to start living by is âbecome the thing that you wantâ if i want friends who throw themed parties maybe i should start throwing those parties. if i want someone who writes me love letters maybe i should start writing letters for the people i love. if i want to hang out at museums and pretty cafes maybe i should invite my friends to these places. and maybe even then i wonât find the kind of people i want to be around. but then i would have become the exact person i want to be around. and maybe thatâs good enough.

If there was one thing twelve year old donghyuck wanted more in this world, other than his momâs cooking, it was his two best friends coming together. You had been his friend since birth, both your momâs bonding together before the two of you even came into the world. They met in a birth class, having similar due dates helped them both find comfort and friendship within each other compared to the other moms in the class that were farther along than them. They had already planned playdates after both you and donghyuck were born and even after all that time, they stayed true to those plans.
Your earliest memories have donghyuck in them in some shape, way or form. Whether he was attending you birthday party, or you to his, all the way to the two of you sharing the same home room when you both started school. The dynamic between you two was truly unmatched, something that could never be touched or fault. When you two got older, not much had changed. The excitement of high school had you both buzzing as each day passed through your final years of being just below the line of being a teenager.
Although you both were attached by the hip, you still found space in your young life to befriend other people, or at least donghyuck did. Thats how mark lee came into the picture, being a transfer student in the middle of the year made it hard for him to settle in and become comfortable. Donghyuck saw mark sitting along during lunch one sunny afternoon and although the two had a bit of a rocky start, their friendship blossomed into something that they both needed. Now that he had such a connection with his new found friend, all he wanted to do is share his love for mark with you. You thought you were a welcoming person, easy to get along with and fairly nice, but the day donghyuck brought you and mark together would just so happen be the day you lost your best friend.
âIâm telling you, that doesnât sound right to me.â
Mark rolls his eyes, laughing a little under his breath as he strums his slender fingers against the strings on his guitar. âIts not finished yet, gotta trust the process.â You simply reply with a hum as you watch mark fiddle and try to tune the strings to his liking. The two of you were cooped up in his dorm room, him sitting on the edge of his bed with the instrument rested in his lap while you opted to sit in the chair that usually was tucked under his desk. âWhat are you doing here anyway, don't you have other friends to bother instead?â Rolling your eyes, you feel your phone buzzing in your pocket. âActually, no i don't, i thought we went over this. Yeongmin is off studying so she canât aid my boredom.â
Mark continued strumming along the strings till he got a rhythm he liked and started to hum along with the tune that was filling the room. âI swear youâre gonna be famous one of these days.â Looking down at your phone, you notice the groupchat youâre in with your friends is going off. âThat would be nice actually.â Unlocking your phone, a smile spreads across your lips at the messages that were popping up. âMaybe if you didnât have crippling stage fright, youâd be able to actually play the songs you sing to more people than just me.â A gentle laugh left markâs throat as he set the guitar down on its stand beside his bed. âActually, I sing to Haechan too, so donât come for me.â His name left a sour taste in your mouth, your face scrunching up as you try to block out his stupid face in your mind. Mark could tell you two still werenât on good terms, but he didnât want to push it again and opted to pick up his phone that was vibrating on his bed.
You stole a glace at the screen, catching the name of the caller id. âSpeak of the devil and he shall appear.â You mumble underneath your breath. Mark answers the facetime call, holding his phone in his hand, but opting to hold it further down at an angle. âYo, whats up?â The background noise was windy, letting both you and mark know that he must've been outside. âBro where have you been, i've been looking for you for hours!â
âIf you didnât find him, he obviously didnât wanna be found, but if its you heâs hiding from who can blame him.â Mumbling beneath your breath, but mark still heard you. âHey, you be nice over there.â haechan looked confused on the screen, strolling around on campus to his unknown destination. âAre you talking to yourself again?â mark turned his camera around, showing you sitting comfortably in his chair as you scroll mindlessly on social media. âNo, im not talking to myself again, y/n is here.â by the mention of your name, haechan rolled his eyes. âWhy is she always there when im coming over.â
âI didn't even know you're coming over.â added in his defense after switching his camera back around. âIf that thing is on his way, iâm out.â you piped up, grabbing your bag from off the floor as you stood up from the chair. âText me when you make it in at least?â mark felt helpless sometimes. He never truly understood what went down between you and haechan all those years ago, but splitting his free time between the two of could could be more challenging some days than others. If he wasnât chilling with you in the comfort of the few places you knew haechan wouldnât be caught dead near like your dorm or the library, he was chilling with haechan and the friend group they developed over the years being in college.
âWill do, have fun with the devils incarnate.â You say back as youâre opening the door to make your exit. Just as youâre leaving, you come face to face with something firm or shall you say someone. âDo you ever use those eyes of yours or are they just there for decoration?â you recognized that voice from anywhere, it being the same voice belonging to the one person you were hoping not to see on your way out. âCan you move lee, or are you just that self absorbed to think that I could just see you standing outside the door before it was even open?â Haechan scoffed as you walked past him, huffing as you nudge him with your shoulder to get him out of your way. From markâs dorm to yours wasn't a far walk, which was good for you when you needed to get out of your room or just needed his help on an assignment. Unfortunately for you, it meant that haechan too didnât have much of a far walk either seeing that his dorm hall was across from yours.
When you get into your room, your roommate wonchae looked up from her phone as she was laid out on her bed. âI thought you were at markâs for a few hours?â Tossing your bag down beside the door you huff as you walk over to your bed and crawl underneath the blanket after removing your shoes. âI was till donghyuck decided to grace mark with his presence.â Wonchae giggled as she sits up, looking at you getting comfortable beneath your blanket as you pull your phone out. âWanna call the girls over for a movie night instead?â you glance over at her, a smile spreading across your lips as you prop yourself up on your elbow. âAs long as weâre not too loud again, we canât afford another complaint this month.â Wonchae was already texting the groupchat before you could even finish your sentence. The night proceeded with you and your friends having a movie marathon despite your early class in the morning. You assumed it wouldnât be too much to unwind a bit, binge watching three movies back to back. Somehow, you didnât make it to your bed when you initially planned to due to the twins, wonchae and yechae convincing you to pull through the last movie.
Since the time on the clock read after midnight by the time the movies were finished, the three girls opted to sleep over with you and your roommate instead of taking the risk of going back to their own dorms. Yeongminâs dorm was the furthest from yours, being about a twenty minute walk and you all collectively agreed she especially was sleeping over. Somehow you and yeongmin both managed to fit in your tiny bed for the night while the twins and sin-ra snuggled up on wonchaeâs bed across the room. By the next morning, you woke up to the sound of yeongmin snoring in your ear beside you. She had her arms and legs tangled in yous, trying to pry her off you as you crane your neck to look over at the time clock on your desk. Your worst fears were confirmed when the time read nine after when your first class was supposed to finish. Quickly getting out of the warmth of your bed, you scramble to get ready and are out the door before you can properly apologize for waking everyone up.
If you were lucky, or rather fast enough, you can catch your professor before he starts his next class and get the notes on what you missed. You make a mental note to thank yourself when you set up your schedule for this semester for giving you breaks in between classes, especially on the midday schedules. As your toppling up the stairs leading into the building, you spot haechan leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He hadnât noticed you thankfully, not wanting him to hold the fact that you almost busted your face open trying to get inside over your head. He looked so into thought, looking out over the campus as you take the opportunity to grip the railing to catch your breath.
âLook who decided to show up for class today.â rolling your eyes, you straighten your posture as he pulls himself off the wall he once was comfortably leaning against. âDonât start with me today, i almost died trying to get over here to catch professor choi before his next class.â
âDon't bother, he cut class short for some family emergency or something, but i can fill you in if you fix your attitude.â He truly was the epitome of your frustration. âJust tell me what i missed so i can get away from you as quickly as possible.â there was a mischievous glint in his eyes when he tools steps towards you. âLooks like youâre not gonna get too far, weâre partnered up for a presentation.â
If the universe didnât already hate you, youâd think this was your first sign. âI can always request a partner switch, you know?â Haechan only laughs in response, clutching the bag hung over his shoulder with one hand. âGood luck with that, he made it pretty clear that he wasnât giving in because this will be counted towards our final.â a sigh left your lips as you accepted your fate, you and haechan would have to spend an unknown amount of hours in each others presence without any chance at getting around it. âJust meet me after our next class and we can go over it then.â WIth that, you turned on your heals and made your way to the nearest cafe to get something in your body since you didnât have the opportunity to grab breakfast. Thankfully for you, your campus was notorious for its tiny cafes placed around all of campus which not only helped feed your caffeine addiction, it helped other students make some money as they swim in student dept.
As good as every cafe youâve been to on campus can be, none of them compare to the baristas at cafe neo, something about the way those boys make your drinks just the way you like them has been without a doubt why you only trust them with your order. As you make your way across campus and the cafe is within sight, you over hear a conversation between the two girls in front of you. âOh my god, look what bomi just posted!â the one to your right gasped, whipping out her phone as she brings it to the slightly shorter girls attention. âYouâre kidding, isnât she dating haechan?â youâre trying not to be nosy, not fond of listening into other peoples conversation, but at the mention of haechanâs name, you canât help, but keen in. âGuess not anymore, look at the caption, those hearts are definitely more than just friendly.â
The two part off of the way you were going, leaving you with little information as to what their reactions were about. You had just saw haechan, judging by his usual cocky and self absorbing nature, he seemed all but heartbroken. You push your wondering thoughts aside as you enter in the cafe, smiling over at the tall boy who stood behind the counter. âWelcome to cafe neoâ oh hi y/n!â his nametag read jisung, but you always referred to him as the cute underclassman who blushed when you tipped him. âHi ji, anything new on the menu?â Jisung smiled at you as you walk up to the counter. âNothing today, chenle is still brainstorming over ideas to ask the culinary department on what they can come up with in the back, you just want the usual?â You skim over the menu that was hanging on the wall behind him, as if you got anything different, but it never hurt to look. âMmm, yeah, just one please.â
Getting the money from your pocket, you lay it on the counter as he typed in your order on the screen in front of him. Itâs times like this that make you wonder how often you come here for this boy to know your order by heart. He takes the money you laid out for him and as he tries to hand you your change, you throw your hand up in refusal. âNo, you keep it, you boys work too hard.â theres a slight pinkish tent to his cheeks as he slips the few bills and coins in the glass jar beside the front of the counter. âIâll call you when its ready!â
Throughout the rest of the day, you take your perfectly made drink with you to your next class and go about your day, everything feeling as normal as it could. One thing that slightly bothered you were the hushed whispers of Haechanâs relationship and how quickly his ex girlfriend seemed to move on. People were coming up with theories amongst themselves as to what couldâve happened and if Haechan knew. Just like you, some said he seemed fine for the first part of the day till the alleged post was made from which you overheard. You didnât pay it any mind and went about your day till you were back in your room for the night.
âAnd if you carry this number, you should get one of these answers down here.â
âAnd how do i know if i got them right?â
âWe wonât know till we actually try, now wonât we?â Jaemin, the guy who you shared a math class with last semester, asked you to tutor him this semester so that he might actually have a chance of passing the class and getting out of this hellhole. His words, not yours. âOr, brillant idea, you can use your pretty brain and show me which answer is correct.â Jaemin was indeed a smart guy, but it was moments like these that you questioned if he really had a multi functioning organ in that skull of his or was it just hot air. âNot a chance, solve it the way I showed you and weâll go from there.â With a defeated huff, he finally puts the pencil that he has been fiddling with the last few minutes to work.
The two of you met in the library near his hall regularly, about twice during the week and an extra day is added when he has an upcoming test and if you have the time. The library usually was quiet around this time of day, most keeping to themselves as they cater to their own work, but for some reason you felt a pair of eyes staring at the back of your head. Just as youâre about to take a look around the room, the chair beside you is being pulled out and haechan finds himself in the seat next to you. âWhere have you been?â you look over at him, slightly shocked to see him actually in the library. âExcuse me?â His face tells you that heâs annoyed, rolling his eyes dramatically as he leans into your personal space. âI said, where have you been, i've been all over campus for you and had to result to mark to find you.â
You motion to Jaemin who was focused in on the problem in front of him, or at least he was when you last looked his way. Now he has his signature grin on his lips, flashing his teeth as he witness the unwelcomed tension between you and haechan. âFor your information, iâm tutoring pretty boy over here and your grumpiness is interrupting him.â Jaeminâs smile widens even more as the vein in Haechanâs forehead looks like it about to pop. âI, quite frankly, donât give a fuck. maybe send someone a text next time so i donât have to look so desprate to find you.â You scoff, sitting back in your seat as you realize his undertones. Who was he to say that looking for you made him look desperate, he literally is desperate in this moment.
âSorry to break up this beautiful moment, but its about that time for me to go, so y/n, same time next week?â Nodding, you let out a sigh as Jaemin starts to pack his things into his bag and slings it over his shoulder. âThere, happy now? You ran off Jaemin.â haechan ignores you, pulling his laptop out of his own bag and sets it onto the table. âWe have roughly a month and a half to pump out a fucking book of an essay and make a slide point presentation, the faster we get this finished the less I have to see you in my free time.â He was truly unbelievable, first he comes and interrupts your personal time to help the needy, needy being Jaemin and his need to pass his class, and now he throws wanting to get away from you as quickly as he can? You are definitely adding this to the list of why you hate him.
The two of you go over the topic you were given, trying to break down the work between the two of you into categories: what you can do separate and what youâll have to do together. Since you both were already here, you decided it would be best to get a head start on the research portion. Time mustâve caught up with you both, wrapping things up right before the library closed for the night. âI canât look at this screen anymore, lets just end it here and meet up another day.â You grab your forgotten bag from the floor, carrying it on your arm as Haechan packs up his laptop. By the time he is done, youâre already making your way out the door and dredging the walk back to your dorm. Quick approaching steps trail behind you as haechan jogs to catch up to you. âWoah, not so fast, arenât you forgetting something?â you donât bother to stop, continuing your walk as he walks beside you. âAnd that is?â
âWe donât have any way of contacting each other, idiot, so give me your number.â You halt your movements and with a sigh, turn to face him. The bright sky from when you first entered the library earlier is now replaced with the deep colors of the night. The moon was full, shining its light down and being your only real light to see haechanâs features that seem more soft in this setting. âDo you still remember my number?â Haechan looks taken aback, looking at you with a lingering confusion in his eyes. âYou still have that number?â
âMhm, so if you still know it then thereâs your way of getting to me.â Youâre about to turn and make your way to your dorm, your stomach urging you to find food soon. Haechan was chewing on his bottom lip, reaching out for your arm as he watched you try to walk away. âWhat is it donghyuck? Iâm hungry and tired, what could you possibly want now?â The wind leaves his lungs as you say his name. Once he got to high school, many people started sticking him with the nickname Haechan, the reasoning behind it was his bright smile and personality, but you still saw him as donghyuck even after all this time.
âJust come with me, your dorm is too far to be walking at this time of night.â You didnât get a chance to protest, he was already dragging you along with him to his car parked out front. âFine, but I swear if you try to kill me with your driving I will come back to haunt your ugly ass.â You earn a snicker from him, his hand still holding your arm till you two reach his car and you slide into his passenger seat. Haechan fits perfectly into the drivers seat, putting the keys into the ignition and starting up his car once you are locked in. The two of you donât say much, letting the radio fill in the silence of the drive. Youâre too busy looking out the window to realize he passes up your hall, looking over at him with confusion once you see an unfamiliar street.
âUhm, where are we going?â
âDinner.â The words fall from his mouth so nonchalantly that you donât question it any further, sinking into the seat as you let him drive to wherever he wanted. Youâre not exactly sure why, but part of you always wanted a moment like this. Sitting in the car with Haechan, driving around town till it got dark was one thing you dreamt of back when you were both young, back when you still could see yourself in his future. Now that youâre doing it, it almost feels foreign. Sure, everything about his car screamed Haechan, the little things dangling from his rear view mirror gave that away, but the boy beside you was far from familiar. He was uncharted territory, someone you barely knew and to be beside him, being this close to him brought on a headache you werenât expecting.
The two of you pull through the Taco Bell drive through, getting in line behind the cars. âWhat do you want?â You tell him your order after glancing over the menu. Even though you already knew what you wanted, you still wanted to give it some time to tell him in the order you wanted it. You were the type of person who wasnât afraid of change, but didnât go out of your way to invite it either. Always ordering the same thing from each place you go, you found comfort in the things that could always remain the same, like your Taco Bell order.
After your order is put through, youâre pulling your wallet out to give him cash for your part. âHere, this is for the food.â Haechan simply ignores you, handing over his card to the guy at the window. âHello? Take the cash before I take it back.â After getting his card back, he slips it into his pocket and pulls forward. âSave your money, y/n, itâs not a big deal.â He seemed short with you tonight, not speaking up or putting much of a fight into it like he usually did in the passing times you two saw one another. It felt odd to see him brush you off, an unsettling feeling washing over you as you put the money back into your wallet.
After he had gotten the food and your two drinks, he whipped his car around and parked in a spot on the side of the building. âAre you fine eating here, Iâm kinda hungry and donât wanna have to wait till we get back.â
âNo, yeah, itâs fine, but are you okay?â
You could see his body tense up at your question, pushing the straw into your drink before doing so to his own. âI guess, why do you care?â Youâre sorting through the bag, grabbing what you assumed was his and handing it over to him. He goes to grab his food from your hand, your fingers brushing against each otherâs for a moment. It wasnât an unpleasant feeling, the warmth of his hand against yours, but it felt all too familiar and you almost jerk back as he quickly grabs the food. âBecause Iâm a decent human being and I knew you well enough back then to know that something is off.â
If you could read his thoughts, youâd see how badly your words hurt him just now. You were far from wrong, you truly did know him like the back of your hand and maybe even better than he knew himself, but too much time between you two had you both wondering if you knew anything about each other anymore. Amongst the burning anger you both have for one another, there was still some sort of longing within you that had you both slightly questioning the downfall of your friendship, but never enough to where either would act on it. âI donât know, itâs kind of weird to think of opening up to someone I hate.â
âThen donât think about it right now, if you need someone to talk to then do so. If it means forgetting you hate me just to get it off your chest, do so donghyuck.â A somber smile finds its way onto his lips as he tears open the wrapping that covered his food. âYouâre a little too nice to me for someone who hates me just as much as I hate them.â
âJust because I hate you doesnât mean Iâm evil, I have a heart too you know?â
âOh really, I never wouldâve guessed judging by the lifeless look in your eyes.â You roll your eyes at his jab, mumbling something about dropping it before relishing in your food. The two of you donât talk much after that, sitting in his car with the only form of sounds filling it were you two eating till he dropped you off. After getting in, wonchae gave you a weird look as you looked both defeated and exhausted. You told her you had a rough day and wanted sleep to be the reason you forgot about it.
You hadnât seen or heard from Haechan since the night he bombarded you in the middle of your study session with Jaemin then took you out to Taco Bell. Sure, youâd see him in your shared class, but not once did his eyes meet yours and he kept every snarky remark to himself if he had any. You didnât pay it any mind, assuming whatever was going on with him would pass and heâd be back to his normal asshole-like self soon. In between your classes for the day, you decided to slip off to the neo cafe for some well needed caffeine to keep you going through the day. While you were here, you planned to slip off in a quiet corner and let the music they play in the small room milk your brain to help you continue working on the parts of your presentation with Haechan.
As youâre walking up to the counter, you notice Jisung was nowhere to be found and you opt to wait patiently by the counter. The ring of the bell signaling the doors movement doesnât catch your attention, but the familiar voice behind you does when you turn your head to the boy who called your name. âCan I help you?â Haechan hadnât turned to look at you, his eyes scanning over the menu. âWhatâs good here, do you know?â You give him a puzzled look, wondering where this small talk came from. âUhm, if your taste buds are even remotely the same, Iâd say youâd get the sweet honey taro drink, it comes iced or hot.â He simply nods, tearing his eyes from the menu and lets his gaze fall onto you. The two of you lock eyes for a moment, trying to find something that felt familiar behind them, but all you could see was the void behind his golden irises.
âY/n, Iâm so sorry to keep you waiting! Chenle was about to burn down the kitchen so I had to step away for a second.â Jisungâs voice pulled you out of your thoughts, turning to him with a soft smile. âThatâs okay ji, Iâm more than happy to wait if that meant this sacred place would still be my caffeine plug.â Jisung smiles as he enters your order, his attention going from yours to Haechan whose gaze has yet to leave your figure. Your eyes follow Jisungâs, looking over at Haechan. âOh, no weâre notââ
âIâll just have what sheâs having.â Haechan pulls out some cash from his back pocket, bringing it out for Jisung. Your mind couldnât wrap itself around Haechanâs weird demeanor lately, he not only has been nice to you, but heâs paid for you twice. You knew he was sick in the head, but now youâre guessing itâs more than just his mental stability. When Jisung gives Haechan his change, you fumble with your pocket and pull out a few bills to throw into the tip jar, something you didnât want to miss even if you werenât the one paying. Jisung silently thanked you with his smile, to which you returned and told you both that heâd call you when your drinks were ready.
You were about to start questioning the weirdly quiet Haechan before he motioned for you both to move over to a table a little further in a corner. The two of you sat down, setting your bag against your chair as you prop your elbows up onto the table. âOkay, youâre acting weird and itâs starting to make me feel uncomfortable.â Haechanâs lips part as he goes to speak, but Jisungâs presence interrupts him as the younger boy sets both the cups down. âThanks, ji.â You said, grabbing one of the drinks and bringing it towards you. âY/n, back in the car you said something that Iâve been thinking about lately.â He had your full attention, something that made him oddly feel sheer to you. You were leaned in, your body language letting him know that you were listening, despite the awkwardness of the moment.
âYou said that even though you hate me, you still have a heart too.â Nodding in confirmation, you remember saying it, but it didnât make sense as to why he was bringing it up. âI, uhm, donât know if you heard or not, but my girlfâmy ex broke up with me recently and I really want to get her back.â You bring the cup in your hands to your lips, taking in a slow sip in case his next words are your cause of death. âAnd the only way I can think to do that is to make her jealous and I know what youâre thinking and I can hear it now, but just hear me out?â There it was, his intentions and reasoning behind his odd behavior lately. As you process his words, you already know where this is going and your drink decides to be the one to take you out today instead. You start to choke as the liquid goes off its track and nearly comes back through your nose.
Haechanâs eyes widen, staring at you in surprise as you try to gain back the air that just left your lungs as you cough. âAre you okay?â You simply nod, patting your chest as your drink is put back onto the table and youâre taking in slow breaths to steady yourself in the seat. âUh yeah, no wait, okay hold on, you want to do what now?â The boy across from you drops his head slightly, feeling embarrassed by even bringing up the situation. Yeah, he wanted his ex back, he truly loved her, or so thatâs what he thought it was. âI know it sounds ridiculous, but youâre the only person I thought of.â
âAnd what makes you think itâll be believable? I mean the whole campus knows we hate each other.â
âBut they also know we have history, plus this project will be a good enough cover to make them believe we had some spark going off or whatever.â You stay silent, contemplating the whole ordeal. On one hand, this could go terribly wrong in many ways, people could not believe you two and this could blow up in your face for the rest of your time at this university or it could go great and once heâs back in the arms of his ex lover, heâll finally leave your hair for good. âIâm not saying yes, so donât get too excited, but if I were to think about it, what do I get out of it?â Haechan knew you were going to want something, a slight smirk forming in the corners of his lips. In his mind, he guesses some things never change and with that, neither have you. âIâll leave you alone after this, no more bickering or picking at you and shitâoh and Iâll do half of your work for the project!â
Damn, he truly was desperate. You press your lips together, trying to debate if this truly would be worth it. The outcome, if good, would be best for both parties and maybe youâd finally have a peaceful rest of your time here. Something deep down inside tells you itâs a bad idea, but you choose to ignore it because if it meant heâd take over half of what you have to do on your shared presentation, more free time for you. âI have to go to class, but Iâll let you know by later tonight.â Your watch indicated if you didnât leave now, youâd be late for your next class and since you have a lab today, you especially didnât want to miss it. You go to stand, one hand holding your bag while the other grabs your cup. Haechan stands too, his bag still hanging on his shoulder as he goes to grab his cup. The two of you exit the Neo cafe quietly, unaware of the lingering eyes that follow you two out.
After your final class, you make a b-line to Markâs dorm where he was expecting you. It had been a few days since you two had time to hang out and you both were taking the opportunity to have some study time together in the quiet of his dorm. Once he signs you in as a guest, you both go up to his dorm and make yourselves comfortable, you being at his desk and him sitting on his bed. âWhat do you have to get done?â Pulling out your notes from your lab along with your laptop, you set everything out on his desktop. âJust going over some notes and typing them into a small essay for class, you?â
âMan, I got a quiz to study for and since professor moon likes to give them at the worst times possible, I gotta get as much as I can in.â The two of you fell into a comfortable silence as you both busy yourselves in what you were doing, Mark had his speaker on and chose a calming playlist he created for when you two would study like this. The music really did help you stay focused, having something to fill the room to keep your brain from getting off track. Youâre about halfway done typing away on your laptop when your phone buzzes beside it. Glancing over, you notice a few missed notifications from your shared group chat with your friends, a few social media notifications and a text from an unknown number. Youâre about to pick up your phone to see who texted you when an incoming call pops up on the screen, the same number that texted you.
You slide your thumb across your phone, bringing it to your ear. âHello?â
âYou didnât answer my text.â Of course it would be Haechan, who else were you expecting. In all honesty, you did expect him to text you at some point, but the call was a surprise for you. âIâm studying, like you should be doing too.â
âI need to know your answer, donât get too excited.â You can practically feel him smirking through the phone followed by some shuffling. âWhere are you anyway? I stopped by your hall and you werenât there.â
Your posture straightens, wondering who he asked and what he told them when we made his way to your dorm. âYou did what? Are you insane?â Haechan laughs, a soft laugh as you lean back in the seat. âSlightly, Iâve been told thatâs a part of my charm though.â Rolling your eyes, you huff before looking over your shoulder at mark. âIâm with a friend, why?â
âTell me where youâre at unless you want me to go to every hall on campus.â
âYouâre fucking psycho, Iâm with mark, idiot.â At the mention of his name, mark looks up at you as you swivel the chair around. You mouth Haechanâs name to him to which he looked genuinely confused. âFigures, Iâm on my way.â He ended the call before you could even protest, swearing under your breath as you stood up to get your things together. âWhy are youâactually no, since when did you and Haechan call each other?â
âIâll explain later, I gotta go though bub, but I appreciate you studying with me.â You gave mark an apologetic smile as you packed your bag up with your laptop, making sure to grab everything you had. âText me when you get in.â Mark had stood up from his bed, making his way over to you to gently pull you into a hug. The two of you never hugged much, the sudden affection leaving you taken aback slightly, but nevertheless you wrap your arms around him as he did you. âIâm right across the street, Iâm not going rouge.â He hums, pulling back from the hug as he gives you an uneasy smile. âYeah, I know, but youâre going with Haechan and thatâs what makes me worried.â
It too made you worried, even if you didnât exactly agree to his lil situation he proposed earlier, that nagging feeling that it wasnât going to end well never left you every time you gave it more thought. âIâll be fine, plus my location is on if I donât text you by nine.â Mark only laughs as your arms drop from around him and you leave his room. It doesnât take you long to get out the building, spitting Haechanâs car parked in front with his passenger window rolled down. Heâs leaned over, a smirk across his lips while one hand grips the top of the steering wheel. âHop in.â He says as you make your way down to his car. Once you get in, you throw your bag in his back seat and fasten your seatbelt before Haechan takes off and drives you two off campus.
âAnd where exactly are we going?â
Haechan doesnât look over at you, his eyes focused on the road, but he can feel your stare on him. He was wearing a letterman jacket with a black shirt underneath and some jeans that complemented the look, it was the first time you really took in his attire and you swore he didnât have that jacket on earlier. âSomewhere quiet we can talk, to sort everything out for the show weâre about to put on.â Heâs cocky, confident and arrogant. You hated it, hated how smug he looked as the words fell from his mouth. âI havenât even said yes yet, did that get through your thick skull?â He takes a moment to glance over at you, his mischievous expression never faulting. âYou wouldnât be in my car with me if you didnât want to.â Fuck him for being right and fuck him for being slightly attractive when he said it. Slightly, not very or even a full hundred percent, but slightly.
He drives you two off to an abandoned looking parking lot where he puts his car into park and turns slightly to face you. âHave you thought about it enough?â You turn to face him, getting as comfortable as you can in the seat. âI guess, but you better pull through with doing half of my part of the project or else Iâll castrate you, no hesitation.â Haechan laughs, a full laugh that has his head tilting back just a bit. Youâre fighting the smile that threatens to form on your lips. âYou have my word, but we have more important things to go over.â He searches your face when you remain quiet, having the same look you did back at the cafe earlier, he knew you were listening. âOkay, so I was thinking our first appearance as a newly and very much in love âcoupleâ should be at the party this weekend.â
âScratch that, I donât party.â
âYouâre gonna have to if you wanna keep up with me.â You scowl at him, rolling your eyes mentally as you give in. âFine, but Iâm not making it a habit, I have grades to keep up ya know?â He simply nods, going over the next few things yâall as a couple would have to do together in order to pull this off. Your first outing would be at the party, to much of your disapproval and the following will fall into place like dominos. Youâd start having lunch together if your schedules met up, the two of you would spend time between classes together, again if your schedules met up, then youâd also have to sit beside him in your shared class. He also made mention that heâd be picking you up and dropping you off at your dorm so that youâd always be seen with him to make it believable. âNow we need to set some ground rules.â
âGround rules? What are we, five years old?â
A memory flashes through Haechanâs mind, back to when you two were five. You had been on the playground at school by yourself and he was off on the monkey bars when you had fallen off the swing. The ground did not aid your fall, scraping your elbow and knee which resulted in a cry that not only alerted your teacher, but haechan. When get got to you, you were sniffling over the pain and the dirt on your dress, a dress that your mom bought for you for your previous birthday. âY/n, i told you to wait for me.â Five year old Haechan pouted as he walked with you and the teacher to the nurses office. âI wanted to swing, I didnât think Iâd get hurt.â You replied, holding his hand gently. After that day, the two of you made a rule that youâd play together to make sure if something went wrong, youâd be by each other's side.
âThe first rule, no one can know, not your roommate or your friends, if you have any, not even Mark.â You scoff, hitting his arm to which he whined. âFor your information, I have friends and itâs not only Mark.â Haechan rubs the sore spot on his arm as he shakes his head at you. âYeah yeah, the voices in your head donât count.â
âFuck you, Lee.â
âSecond rule, no falling in love, not with anyone while this is going on, which goes without saying, but no hooking up either and no falling in love with me.â
âHow can anyone fall in love with someone like you?â You didnât realize the weight of your words till you watched the smile from his face fade away. Guilt washed over you in a wave, your face dropping as you see him fiddling with the buttons on his jacket. Youâre about to apologize when you see his mood shift, he turns back facing the wheel and starts his car. âYeah, anyway, two rules and thatâs that.â You donât say anything back, turning back in your seat to fasten your seatbelt. Haechan drives you back onto campus and drops you off in front of your hall. âWhat time is your class in the morning?â He asks as he puts his car into park. âI think itâs an eight am class, but Iâll text you when I get in.â He nods as you free yourself and get out of his car.
Heading upstairs, the phone in your hand is going off with missed messages from your group chat with your friends. Youâre smiling down at them as you push your door open, only to look up and see your four friends sitting with their arms crossed. âOh hello, did I miss something?â
âWe missed you!â Yeongmin stated, sitting with her legs crossed on your bed. âWhere have you been, maâam?â Yechae asked as she gave you a knowing smile. âI was just out, jeez, Iâm sorry mom.â Sin-ra giggles as she pushes out her phone for you to see. âUh huh, and whose car was this?â All the girls ooo at you as you sit down on your bed, filling in the spot next to Yeongmin. âYou watched me!â Wonchae shook her finger at you, âWhat else were we supposed to do when you went missing? One minute, youâre at Markâs dorm and the next, youâre off the grid!â The four girls immediately started questioning you as you brushed off their curiosity with half-assed answers. You wanted so badly to tell them all thatâs going on and the situation you had gotten yourself into, but that was one of the two rules Haechan made. No one can know.
A loud knock on the door interrupts the conversation, all of you looking at one another. âOh, that must be our RA, I think the pizza is here.â Yeongmin gets up from your bed and goes to open the door, unexpecting the boy who was on the other side. âHi, uhm, is y/n here?â Haechanâs voice immediately caught your attention as you scramble off your bed while the other three girls give you wide eyed looks. âIâll get it!â Yeongminâs grip on the door is stronger than your force of trying to push her out the way. She moves, but not enough to where you'd be blocking their view. She only steps back, opening the door even more for them all to see him standing there with your bag in hand. âHi, sorry, I didnât even realize I left it.â
Haechan can tell by the look on your friends' faces that they were shocked to see him there. He had an audience and he was about to put on a show. âNo problem baby, you left it in my backseat.â The sudden nickname makes your stomach flip, but you werenât about to show him that. Instead, you reach for the bag to which he moves with his hand. âAh ah, I want a kiss goodbye first.â You immediately glare at him to which he gives you a smirk. âNot in front of my friends, silly.â The emphasis you put on the last word has Haechan smiling even wider. âJust one for the road?â With a deep breath in, you had only two options. Kiss him and get him to leave or knee him in his most valued area, but that would be too red of a flag for your friends. You take a step closer to him, standing up on your toes as you press a quick peck on his cheek. As you do so, you grab for your bag that he still was holding, your fingers brushing against his.
âThank you, Iâll see you in the morning?â Haechan looks dumbfounded for a minute, blinking down at you with slightly parted lips. He wasnât expecting you to actually kiss him, so for you to do so, he was a bit taken aback. âIâll be here, goodnight babygirl.â
The show Haechan put on caused an uproar within your friend group that lasted just long enough before the three had to go back to their rooms. They were questioning everything from what the hell that was and since when were you babygirl for anyone else, but them. When you finally admitted that he was your (fake) boyfriend, they all congratulated you on your new relationship and only wished they knew about him before.
The next morning went according to your plans you and haechan texted about the night before. He picked you up, parked right in front of your dorm before your class and even stopped by and got you a drink from the Neo cafe. After he dropped you off at your first class, you didnât see him much till your shared class where he saved you a seat. The two of you went your separate ways after he walked you to your next class and eventually he dropped you off back at your dorm. âThe party starts in a few hours so Iâll text you when Iâm coming by.â He said, watching as you get out of his car. âGot it, also donât come in again, you nearly killed my friends with your little stunt you pulled.â This earned a laugh from Haechan as you shut the door and he waited till you were inside before he pulled off.
By the time you got inside your room, all your friends were already sitting on your and wonchaeâs beds as they watched a movie on your shared tv. âOh good, just in time, the movie just started!â Yechae smiled at you as she paused the movie. âActually, I have plans, Iâm so sorry.â A pout forms on your bottom lip in hope they forgive you. âActually, do you guys wanna come with me? Haechan is taking me to a party and I donât wanna leave you guys here.â Sin-ra was already jumping off the bed as she went straight to your closet. âA party, fucking bet!â The other three girls join in as they raid Wonchaeâs closet and you text Haechan letting him know theyâre coming. To your surprise, he responds with âthe more the merrier ;)â and you brush off the wink as you try to hide the blush that crept onto your cheeks.
Since there were so many of you and you know already you wonât all fit in Haechanâs car, the girls opt to take Yechaeâs car as well and after you all get dressed, you get a text that Haechan was waiting for you out front. âAlright, heâs here, yâall ready?â
âGo ahead and send us the address, weâll catch up.â Yeongmin gives you a playful push out your door, turning to ask her why before she shuts the door. With that, you go ahead down to his car and open his passenger door. âHey, the girls are gonna meet us there so can you send me the address really quick?â You havenât looked at him yet, trying to get your phone out of your pocket. Haechan, on the other hand, couldnât tear his eyes off of you. You chose to wear an off the shoulder shirt to attempt to blend in paired with some of your nicer jeans and the exposed skin has his heart racing. âHyuck?â Turning your attention to him, you take in his attire. Leather jacket with a white undershirt and black jeans paired with a black belt. Damn, he actually looked good.
âYou look beautiful, y/n.â He sounded like he didnât mean to say that out loud, his voice barely over a whisper, but that didnât stop the blood rushing to your cheeks. âThank you, not too bad yourself.â Haechanâs face was similar to yours, his cheeks a soft shade of pink. Not just from your compliment, but from how effortlessly the forgotten nickname rolled off your tongue. A few minutes felt like forever passed, the two of you staring at each other with something similar in each other's eyes. For Haechan, it looked like a longing feeling swirling around in his eyes while for you, he could see the same little girl you were back when you were kids and he wonders how much time has passed since heâs seen you like this. Youâre the first to break contact, looking away awkwardly as you open your phone to Yechaeâs messages. âThe address?â
âHuh, Iâm sorry, what did you ask for?â
âI asked you earlier for the address to the party.â
Haechanâs lips formed an o as he took the phone you handed over for him. He took the phone, this time your fingers just miss each other and you canât deny you miss the warmth that radiates from him. After he types in the address, he hands over your phone and the two of you drive silently to the party with the music volume on low. It doesnât take you long to arrive, people coming in and out as he opts to park up front. âIsnât it illegal to park here, I thought this was for members only?â Youâre unbuckling your seatbelt as you look through the window at the Greek letters above. âNot for me it isnât.â
His words alone leave you slightly confused, but you get out of the car and as he walks on the other side, he has his hand out for you. âWhat am I supposed to do with that?â
âGrab it, weâre a couple, remember?â Oh yeah, youâre here as his girlfriend. Right. Hesitantly, you take your hand within his and interlock your fingers. You havenât held his hand since you were kids, but damn did it feel right. His hand, obviously larger now, fits with yours perfectly and you shove down the butterflies that climb up your throat as the two of you go inside. The room was crowded, people everywhere leaving little room to actually get through. Haechanâs grip on your hand tightens as he guides you through the room and you can feel the stares of everyone on you as you two make your entrance. The two of you find your way through the main area and over to a slightly less crowded place where some familiar guys stand around a table playing beer pong.
âI want you to meet some guys.â He says loudly to make sure you can hear him over the music. You simply nod and stand a little closer to him as people walk past you. Haechan calls over a few guys youâve only seen in passing, one very tall and the other slightly shorter with multi-colored hair. âJohnny, Taeyong, this is my girlfriend y/n, y/n, this is Johnny and Taeyong.â Johnny, the taller one gives you a sweet smile as he grabs your free hand and brings it to his lips. âPleasure to meet you.â Taeyong laughs as he pats the others back. âWatch it, Haechan is giving you the death glare.â Haechan drops your hand as you shyly smile, wrapping his arm around your waist and resting his hand firmly on your hip. âItâs nice to finally meet you y/n.â
âYouâve heard of me before?â
Taeyong and Johnny exchange looks as they smirk. Haechan on the other hand turns his head as he begins to blush. âLover boy over here talked about you nonstop when we first met him, i was starting to believe you werenât real until he told us he finally asked you out.â Taeyongâs words came to you as a shock, not believing Haechan had talked about you to anyone before. âBelieve me, heâs definitely down bad for you. You got a good one, Haechan.â
âI know.â He replies with a wide smile as you turn to face him, youâre definitely going to question him on this later. âWeâre gonna go get a drink, Iâll catch up with yâall later.â His hand leaves your hip, immediately intertwining his fingers with yours as he gives both boys a hug. You wave them goodbye before Haechan leads you two into the kitchen. âWant anything?â He asks, looking over the table with a variety of alcoholic drinks. âIâll take some water, Iâm not sure if I wanna drink tonight.â He simply nods, respecting your choice as he himself grabs a beer. Just as youâre about to leave, you and haechan turn to see a girl walking in with her arm wrapped around the guy she was with.
âHaechanie, I didnât know you were coming!â
Judging by how tense Haechan felt beside you, you can only assume that this was his ex, Bomi. âUh, yeah, I didnât think youâd be here either.â His tone was flat, but his face was mixed with pain and uninterest. âYeah, I came with Kai, Kai this is Haechan.â Her smile was fake, even you could see that and the guy she was holding onto gave one similar as he replied with a hey. âOh Iâm sorry, I didnât notice you there, and who are you?â Her eyes looked soft, but if you looked any closer you could see the burning flame behind that glossy coat. Her lips were turned upward into a smile, but you knew she was lying between her teeth to make you seem less important, to make you feel less important.
âIâm y/n, Haechanâs girlfriend.â You said, squeezing his hand in yours. Haechan came back to his senses, looking over at you with a fond smile. You could feel his gaze on you, but you wanted to mess with his ex a little more. âWho are you? I donât think I caught your name.â Bomi laughed, a little too loud as she threw her head back a bit. âIâm Bomi, Haechanieâs ex.â
âOh really, never heard of you.â Your lips purse up a little as you look over at Haechan, his eyes softening when yours lock with his. You honestly could get lost in them if you didnât realize the amount of people who were staring at you right now. Your attention turns back to Bomi and her new arm candy, her cheerful expression now long gone. âSorry, we were just stopping for a drink, but it was nice to meet you.â And with that, you guide Haechan from the kitchen and maneuver your way around with him in hand till you reach the stairs. Haechan had silently been following you, thoughts swimming around in his head. âYou know a room we can go to thatâs clean?â
âMoving pretty fast now arenât we y/n.â
âOh shut up, just get us somewhere quiet.â
Haechan smirks as he leads the two of you upstairs, going down a hallway till he stopped at a room and pulled his eyes from his pocket. With his free hand, he unlocks the door and walks inside with your hand still in his. âI lock it when Iâm out so that no one can do anything unholy to my bed.â His words register in your brain, but youâre too distracted as you look around in the room. There were vinyls plastered onto the walls, wireless headphones sitting carefully on the side table next to his bed. Haechan drops his hand from yours, furrowing his brows at the lack of warmth that reaches his fingertips while opting to sit on the bean bag across from his bed. You sit down on his bed, noticing he too was already sitting.
Patting your thighs, you take a deep breath in to collect your thoughts from all thatâs happened since you two got in while Haechan looks deep in his own head. âSo, sheâs something.â He laughs softly, fiddling with his fingers as he stares into his lap. âYeah, she is.â
âAnd you talk about me?â
Leaning back into the bean bag, he looks at you through hooded eyes. âI did when I first got accepted in, they went around asking personal questions as a bonding experience and you were all I really knew so you naturally came to mind.â Youâre fighting the frown as you think about how long you two have hated each other, almost forgetting why you two grew apart for so long. âYou okay, after seeing her and all?â With his lips pressed together, he simply nods as he closes his eyes. âIâll have to be, I mean she looked pretty pissed to see you with me, so thatâs a step right?â
âYeah, I guess.â It felt very awkward to be having such a deep conversation with him, but somehow it also felt right. Your silence is interrupted when your phone starts buzzing, pulling it from your pocket and bringing it to your ear to answer it. âHello?â
âHey, weâre here, where are you guys?â Yeongmin called you, you assumed from downstairs as you can hear the faint music through one ear and the louder music through the phone in the other. You mouth to haechan that they were downstairs and ended the call telling her you were on your way. The two of you interlock your hands before going back downstairs, looking for the girls within the crowd. From the staircase, you can barely see them on the dance floor and you signal to haechan to follow you. As you make your way through the sea of bodies against bodies, you see your friends laughing and holding hands as they dance together.
âThis is so much fun!â Wonchae smiled at you as she and Yechae held each other close. âIf you have any more parties, invite us again!â Yeongmin and Sin-ra smiled at you and haechan, giggling to each other as their favorite song was blasting from the speakers. Haechan drops his hand, turning you around with his hands on your hips. He leans in as he pulls you against him, his lips brushing the shell of your ear. âWanna dance?â Thereâs a faint blush on your cheeks as you simply nod, hesitantly wrapping your arms around his neck. The two of you fall into a rhythm and sway with each other for what feels like hours. After dancing for so long, youâre starting to feel the effects of the night and tell Haechan youâre ready to go home.
You lost the girls way earlier before you decided to leave, sending them a text to tell you when they make it in. Haechan leads you outside, the wind blowing slightly as you two step out of the party. You shiver slightly, rubbing your arms as you walk over to his car. Haechan notices the goosebumps on your skin, immediately taking his jacket off and throwing it over your shoulders. âYouâre gonna catch a cold, take it back.â As youâre protesting, he simply shakes his head. âIâm alright for now, just keep it on so you wonât catch a cold.â The warmth of the leather silences you, walking around the front of his car and resting against the top as he stands in front of you.
âDid you at least have fun?â
âFor my first college party, yeah I had fun.â
Haechan gasps as you look at him confused. âThis was your first party?â You simply nod, chewing on your bottom lip before laughing softly. âAs you can tell from my friends, we donât get out much and the only other person i talk to is Mark.â Haechan steps closer to you, losing in the distance as he tilts your head towards him with his finger. âLet me at least make it memorable.â Your face is bright red as he leans in, pressing his lips against yours. You stay still, afraid that if you move, heâll move and you hate to admit to yourself that you donât want to move. His lips were soft against yours as he tilted his head to deepen the kiss. Your hands reach out for him, gripping the fabric of his shirt while his hand moves from your chin to cup the side of your cheek.
Haechan was the first to break contact, pulling back as he looked down at you. âHow was that for a first college party?â You shake your head, letting go of his shirt to give him a slight shove. âTake me home, idiot.â He laughs as you stand from the hood of his car and the two of you get in, driving around to your hall before you go your separate ways.
The next few weeks go by smoothly, you and haechan seem to be fooling everyone with your physical touch and playful banter when youâre out together. He sits with you when you two go to the cafeteria, eating meals together during your breaks between classes. Heâll meet you at the neo cafe and order your drink for you before you arrive and if youâre tutoring Jaemin, heâll bring you your drink and sit with you till youâre done. Heâs made it a habit to bring you to Taco Bell after your tutoring sessions are over and you two even spend time in the library working on your project, but haechan doesnât get much work done before heâs bugging you for attention. After all these years, you almost forgot how touchy he is, always grabbing your hand or resting his head on your shoulder and vice versa. The two of you have everyone fooled, even Mark.
âI still canât wrap my head around you and haechan, I mean one day you were seconds away from ripping his throat out and now youâre giggling at his texts.â
You sheepishly smile as the two of you walk back to his dorm, holding your bag in your hand as you think how much has changed between you and Haechan. Even when youâre alone, he acts no different. He still grabs your hand, plays with your hair, complements you every morning and smiles at you as if every day was the first day you saw each other. Youâd be lying if you said you didnât feel any different towards him, but you always push those feelings down and remember how you got here. He wants her back, he doesnât want you, and every time you think of them two wrapped up in each other's arms like how he does with you, it hurts a little more than it should.
âI guess people change, I mean we were friends for a while when we were kids, that played into it too.â You were being truthful, reminiscing on the crush you had on Haechan growing up. Never in a million years would you have told him that, but in a way you also never were given the chance to. Now, here you are with those same harbored feelings and still donât have a clue with what to do with them. After this is all over, heâll leave your life once again and youâll be left to fill the void that no one has ever come close to when it comes to him. âYeah, Iâm just saying, itâs a little weird to me, but Iâm happy that youâre happy.â You give Mark a playful shove as you two walk inside his hall and go up to his room. You and Mark havenât had much time together since you and Haechan started âdatingâ and today was one of the days you two planned on studying in silence till you both grew bored and ended up listening to music.
âWhatâs on the agenda today? I got a psych essay to get out of the way.â
âI have some more lab work to go over, but Iâm essay free.â
Mark opens his door for you and follows behind as you set your bag down beside his desk. The two of you go about doing your work as your phone starts to buzz on the desktop. Picking it up, you see you have missed texts from Haechan and a few missed calls. Just as youâre about to call him back, his name pops across your screen. Swiping across your phone, you bring it to your ear. âHey, Iâm so sorry my phone was on silent and I just nowââ
âWhere are you? Iâve been waiting for you by your last class for hours.â
Judging by his tone, he seems annoyed. You felt guilty, forgetting to text him before you met up with Mark to let him know of your plans. âIâm so sorry, Mark and I met up and were studying in his room.â Haechan scoffs, rolling his eyes if you could see him. âIâm on my way, meet me in the car.â With that, he hung up as you let out a sigh. âWho was that?â Youâre packing up your bags as you look over at the window. Itâs raining outside and it doesnât look like itâll be letting up anytime soon. âHaechan, he called and wanted me to meet him outside, i kinda forgot to tell him I was coming with you and heâs kinda upset.â Mark gave you an apologetic smile to which you returned. âBe careful out there and donât worry, I doubt heâs that mad, okay?â
You simply nod and bid him a goodbye before leaving his room and heading downstairs. When you go out the front doors, Haechan is already parked out front and you hold your bag to your chest to protect it from getting soaked as you run down to his car and quickly get inside. Haechan was gripping the wheel as he stared down at his lap, not looking your way once as you shut the door as you got in and placed your bag between your legs rather than in the back seat. âYou okay hyuck?â
Haechan was quiet, you knew he was upset, but youâre starting to think there were underlying reasons as to why. âWhy didnât you tell me you were with Mark.â You bite your lip, furrowing your brows as you reach over to touch him. âI said i was sorry, it completely slipped my mind and I didnât mean to not tell you, he just asked me if we could hang out since we havenât recently.â
âHow hard is it to send a simple text, y/n?â He definitely was pissed, his knuckles turning an off shade of white with how tight he was gripping the wheel. âWhy are you so mad, you know Mark, it wasnât like I was out with someone random?â
âIâm pissed because I had someone come up to me asking why my girlfriend was walking off giggling with some guy, you ever think of that?â
Heâs unbelievable, heâs literally unbelievable. The nagging feeling that this whole situation wasnât going to end well resurfaces without hesitation, leaving you with a sense of deja vu. âFake girlfriend, did you forget that?â Haechan laughs, not a genuine laugh, but a laugh that almost felt forced. âYouâre right, how could I forget, I mean youâve done it before so Iâm not surprised youâre doing it again.â
âDoing what exactly, donghyuck.â
âStealing Mark away, taking all of his precious time and acting as if I donât exist.â His words hit you hard, bringing you back to the day you two first parted ways. When Haechan first introduced you and Mark, there was no doubt in his mind that you two would get along and he was looking forward to spending his days with both of his closest friends, but even at such a young age, jealousy got the best of him. Upon meeting, you and Mark clicked as if you were meant to be friends, talking and laughing together while Haechan stood silently and felt lonely. He didnât like how quickly you got along with Mark, he didnât like how much he hated bringing you two together, he especially didnât like how much resentment he felt towards you even if he didnât know what he was feeling.
He told you he hated you that day, out of anger and hurt. Not once did he mean it, in fact there were so many times he had wished he never said it and turned the clocks back to keep him from hurting you so badly. The damage had already been done, tears falling down your young cheeks when he told you he had never wanted to be your friend again. You were confused, hurt and overall overwhelmed with the events that happened that day, but you turned your sadness into the same hatred he said he had for you and from then, the two of you never had a nice thing to say about one another. Now here you were, sitting in his car with the hopes of you two finally making progress gone.
âI donât steal his time, he gives it to me, but you wouldnât know that because you force people to be around you.â You didnât mean it, you didnât even want to say it, but haechan was prideful and used his words to hurt others when he was hurting and you werenât going to let him win again. âDid you forget that Iâm your first actual boyfriend and Iâm not even dating you, itâs kind of pathetic you had to get a fake boyfriend to even know what itâs like to have one.â You didnât realize when you started crying or why you were crying in the first place. Maybe it was because you were angry, angry that he was angry at you over something so little and so stupid. Maybe it was because he hurt you and continues to hurt you over and over and the lines between what was real and what was fake have been blurred.
âFuck you haechan, I mean honestly, I thought maybe youâd change, maybe the boy i knew then was still there.â He still wasnât looking at you, he couldnât bring himself to meet your eyes and see the damage heâs done. âMaybe you didnât know me at all.â He knew it before you said it, that everything the two of you had been building up to for nearly a month was all over. He didnât want to believe till you said it, but deep down he knew. âFuck this, fuck your stupid little plan to get your shitty ex back and fuck you.â
With that, you grabbed your bag and got out of his car, leaving Haechan with his thoughts and the tears that slid down his cheeks as he watched you walk away. Part of you wanted to go back inside to Markâs room, but that would mean youâd have to explain everything and that was all too much for you to unpack right now. Instead, you walked back to your hall, soaking from head to toe by the time you made it to your room. Wonchae was sitting in her bed when you came in, immediately questioning you why you were soaking wet, but when she realized you were crying, she took you into her arms and held you till you settled down.
That night all the girls came over and stayed with you till you cried yourself to sleep. You had come clean to them all, telling them about the pretend dating to help him get his ex back all the way to your childhood with Haechan and even the fallout of your friendship. You even told them about the feelings you were harboring, sobbing through your broken words. They tried to reassure you, telling you that they believed there was something real between you and Haechan, but you couldnât bring yourself to believe them, not after what you just went through with him. Thankfully for you, it was a weekend and you didnât have classes till the following Monday and that meant you didnât have to try and avoid him as much as possible.
By the beginning of the week, you do your best to dodge him in any way. You stopped going to the Neo cafe for the first week, Sin-ra taking the initiative to bring you your drink every morning before your first class. In the class you shared with him, at first youâd sit in the very back to avoid being near him and people quickly took notice. It wasnât long before whispers started going around that you two had broken up and Mark was a part of some of the rumors. When he got wind of everything, you told him the same thing you told your friends and he apologized to you for everything. After so many years, he finally knew why you and Haechan stopped being friends and he felt responsible for that, but you reassured him that there was nothing he couldâve done then or now.
It was nearing your last week for your project and youâre sitting in your shared class with Haechan who was nowhere to be seen. As youâre leaving when the professor tells everyone class was dismissed, your professor stops you and asks you to stay behind. âI wanted you to know that Donghyuck already submitted his portion of the project, so Iâll only need the remaining 25% from you.â Youâre confused and itâs evident on your face as you grip the bag over your shoulder. âIâm sorry, but we agreed to split it down the middle, what did he submit already?â
âAre you sure? He emailed me this morning and submitted the essay portion and said youâd do the final draft on the slide presentation. Get with him and let me know before the deadline.â You simply nod and bid him a farewell as you leave your last class for the day. There are so many thoughts in your head as you pull your phone from your pocket and just as youâre about to text Haechan, you bump into someone on your way out. âOh Iâm so sorry.â
âOh, Iâm soây/n?â
When you look up from your phone, you see Johnny standing in front of you. He was a little taken aback to see you, but still happy that he ran into you. âOh hey, whatâs up?â The two of you make small talk as you stand outside the building, chatting about the little things in life. âOh before I forget, youâre coming to the party tonight right?â Youâre unsure what to tell him, your silence leaving open room to answer. âItâs okay if you canât make it, Haechan said you two were working on a big project so I get why you havenât been around, but if you come tonight weâd be happy to have you.â Hearing Haechanâs name felt almost foreign, having neither your friends or Mark even uttering his name over these last few weeks. âIâll see if i can make it.â Johnny gives you a genuine smile before heading off and you two go your own ways. When you make it back to your hall, Wonchae and Yechae are sitting on Wonchaeâs bed as they watch a movie on her laptop.
âWanna watch the movie with us, I can put it on the tv?â You smile at Yechaeâs offer, but simply shake your head. âIâm gonna go to sleep instead, thank you though.â You slip underneath your blanket and lay in bed till your eyes get too heavy to keep open anymore. Youâre not sure what time it was when your phone starts going off, waking you from your peaceful sleep. Your fumble as you sit up in bed, grabbing your phone from your side table. Through tired eyes, you see an unknown number calling you and hesitantly, you slide across your phone to answer. âHello?â
âY/n, we need you here! Haechan is whining for you.â You recognize Johnnyâs voice, the mention of Haechanâs name sending a rush of adrenaline through your body. âWhere is he?â You try to be as quiet as you can, looking over at Wonchae and Yechae cuddling silently in her bed. âHeâs upstairs, I kind of lost him when I was busy cleaning up his puke, but I managed to snatch his phone before he disappeared to call you.â With a heavy sigh, you climb out of bed and throw on a sweatshirt before telling Johnny youâre on your way. Without a car, youâd have to walk all the way to the frat house where the party was thrown, but itâd take too long for you to get there so you opt to run instead as you mentally thank yourself for taking track one year in high school.
As youâre reaching the doors to the house, youâre panting and out of breath while dragging yourself inside. Pretty much everyone was gone and the scattered cups on the ground gave you an idea of how the night went. Johnny was crouched down picking things up off the floor when you walked in, looking your way as you tried to catch your breath. âOh hey y/n, you okay? You look kind of..sweaty.â You shook your head as your hands rested on your hips, taking in slow deep breaths to steady your breathing. âWhere is he?â You were here to find Haechan, as much as you wanted to make small talk with Johnny, you were too tired to even try. âCheck his room, Taeyong should still be up there with him.â Nodding, you drag your feet towards the staircase and tiredly make your way to the top. Going solely off memory, you walk down the hallway till youâre standing in front of Haechanâs room. From inside, you can hear faint crying and Taeyongâs voice.
Pushing the door open gently, you see Haechan sitting on his bed with a cup of water in his hand while Taeyong is sitting beside him. When he noticed your entrance, Taeyong stood up from the bed and silently walked towards you. He placed his hand gently on your shoulder before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind him. You stood in the middle of the room, staring at the boy who was silently sniffling as he stared down at his cup in his hand. âDo you have your keys, I can bring you to your room if you do.â He simply shook his head, gripping the cup in his hand. A sigh left your lips as you turned to his closet, rummaging through his clothes. âW-what are you doing?â You pull a shirt off a hanger, walking over to him. âYou canât sleep in that, it has liquids on it.â Haechan stays still, as if he was frozen in time. His body shook slightly every time he hiccuped, but he didnât bother moving.
âGet changed please, Iâll leave so you canââ
âPlease donât leave me.â
Youâre biting your bottom lip as you see his head rise, meeting his swollen and teary eyes. âJust for tonight, I just need you tonight.â He looked so sad, tears dried on his cheeks as he fought back the tears. You shouldâve left, hell you shouldnât have even come, but you needed to make sure he was okay and from the looks of it, he was far from it. âIâll turn around, but you need to get out of your clothes and into something to sleep in.â Silently, he stands from his bed and sets the cup on his desktop. You handed him the shirt you grabbed from his closet, walking towards the door and facing away so that he could get dressed. After a few minutes pass, Haechan tells you heâs done and you turn around to him laying in his bed on one side, leaving space for you on the other.
Walking over after turning off the light, you pull back the blanket and slide into the space heâs left you. The two of you lay in silence, the moonlight shining through the cracks of his window cover. âIâm sorry.â Haechanâs voice was barely over a whisper, but neither of you could bring it to look at each other. âYouâre drunk, you donât even know what youâre apologizing for.â You could feel how tense he was beside you, if you reached out to him you were afraid heâd fall apart. âIâm sober enough to know what I'm saying and I need you to believe me on that.â You shift onto your side, tucking your underneath his pillow as your eyes fall to the side of his face. He can feel your gaze on him, waiting for him to continue. âI didnât mean anything I said that day, even back when we were kids.
âI was jealous of your friendship with Mark, in a way I still am because heâs been by your side this whole time and because of my insecurities, I missed all of that.â You knew he had a hard time believing in people after he had been let down many times before, you understood where he was coming from, but that doesnât justify his actions. âIâm sorry you had to come out here at this hour, I donât remember much of what I said to the boys, but it was enough for them to call you and for that, i'm sorry for wasting your time.â
The light coming from his window was just enough for you to see the tear that slid from his eye down the side of his face. âWas she here tonight?â You knew it was none of your business, you had no right to be asking him this, but part of you needed to know. âYeah.â
âDid you guys get back together, I mean that was the whole point of this right?â
Haechan turns on his side to face you, tucking his arm underneath his head to prop himself up to your eye level. âShe tried, but I told her it was over when she left me for that guy.â Youâre a bit taken aback, why did he turn her down? What was the point of all of this if it was not for him to win her back. âWhy, didnât you want her back?â Haechanâs eyes locked with yours, searching them for something to give him the confidence to go on. He could see it in your eyes, but for so long he had been too scared to ruin what you two were building. âSpending this time with you blurred everything around me y/n, she was what I thought I wanted, but it wasnât till I lost you that I knew what I needed instead.â
You felt speechless, staring at him with parted lips. He had just confessed that you were what he wanted and that alone made your head feel dizzy. Now lies the difficult decision, to lie and pretend you donât feel anything to protect yourself or run to him and trust that heâll protect you instead and all the love you have in your heart for him. âSay something please.â Hesitantly, you bring a hand up to his face, brushing his hair back to get the best view of him as possible. âLooks like we have a problem.â
âAnd that is?â
âI broke one of the two rules we made, well technically I broke them both but the first rule was broken after you were an asshole.â Haechan sat up, propping himself on his elbow as he stared down at you. âDoes that mean I can kiss you?â A smile spreads across his lips as he watches the light reflect in your eyes. You give him a nod, all the confirmation he needed to lean down and capture your lips within his. The kiss felt familiar, like he had done this a million times before. Your arm wraps around his neck, pulling him close to you as you tilted your head to deepen the kiss. The two of you healed a part of you that was long overdue, the two best friends within you now reunited. Now that youâre older, you not only have your best friend back, but the young boy you loved is too there beside you.
so for starters if youâve gotten this far, why thank you pook đĽšiâm really sorry if the ending feels rushed, iâve never written something this long before so i was struggling i tell yađĽ˛đŤ and i just wanna say ily and youâre doing great and if you liked it,, pls lmk! it always helps when you share your thoughts w me đŤś

Luckily for you and your friends, you all had no major injuries and were cleared to leave. Your parents frantically picked you up from the bridge, scanning you for any injuries despite you trying to convince them that you were fine.Â
When you got home, you beelined straight for your bedroom. Mindlessly sauntering onto your bed, you stared down at your hands still covered in little specks of blood and cuts from the accident. You were in such a trance that you didnât even hear Mark come through from your window.Â
Yeri had practically blown up Markâs phone, filling him in on Haechanâs wonderful idea that almost cost you your lives. She said you seemed shaken up, but didnât say much and that Mark needed to come check up on you, right now.
But he was already one step ahead of her, leaving the scene at the same time when you had left with your parents. He wanted to be there when you got home.Â
Mark noticed how lost in thought you were, eyes fixated at your hands. Even at the soft call of your name, you didnât respond. So, Mark squatted down in front of you, grabbing on to your wrists gently.Â
You were snapped out of your daze when you felt Markâs hands on you.
âHey baby,âÂ
Upon hearing the familiar timbre of your boyfriendâs voice, the brave face and walls you had put up came crumbling down as you immediately burst into tears.Â
âHey, hey,â he tried his best to calm you down, pulling you into his arms as you cried. The shock had finally worn off, but you were now left with the realization of what actually happened today.Â
âHaechan. Yeri. T-the bus, it fell over the bridge-â you struggled to form a proper sentence as you hiccuped through your tears. And for the second time that day, Markâs heart lurched out of his chest because of you.Â
âItâs okay, youâre safeâ Mark murmured softly into your hair, pressing a kiss on your temple. You cried and cried until you couldnât anymore. You knew Yeri and Haechan most likely already told him in on everything. There was no need for you to explain.Â
Mark easily pulled you up into his strong arms, as you clung on to him like a koala bear. With your arms around his neck and legs wrapped around torso, he moved the two of you towards the bathroom to clean you up.
No words were exchanged as he wiped the cuts clean and blood off of your hands and arms. He then helped you change into a new pair of clothes and laid in your bed with you.Â
And when you asked him to stay, unlike the previous night, Mark stayed. With your back pressed against his chest and arms around you, he held onto you just a little tighter that night. More than he ever had before.Â
ââ â â ââ ⊠ââ â â ââ
Weeks passed and you were able to recover fine from the accident. But Mark did not. True to Haechanâs words, Mark had become extra clingier since the accident. Never leaving you alone ever again, especially with Haechan. (Haechan continuously argued with Mark saying, âhow was I supposed to predict that crazy freak accident?! Itâs not entirely my fault, Mark!â)Â
You had initially thought this new found protectiveness was due to Mark seeing how shaken up you were after the accident. Maybe your initial reaction had scared him? But it seemed deeper than that as time passed.Â
You didn't know but Mark couldnât get the image of you falling back, fingers slipped from his and that look of horror on your beautiful face, out of his head. Everytime he closed his eyes to sleep the memory replayed over and over, keeping him awake at night and jolting him from sleep.
It had gotten so bad that Mark started sneaking into your room at night. He would slip in through your window and crawl into your bed with you. He needed to make sure that you were safe and sound in his arms.Â
On a particular night, you had gotten up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night when Mark snuck in. He was ready to wrap you up in his arms again, but panicked when he did not see you in usual position on your bed.Â
The color drained from his face and the dread set in. Mark was convinced he was in a nightmare again. The one where he couldn't save you from the fall and had to face the fact that you were gone. Crouched down by your bed, Mark placed his forehead against your sheets, breathing becoming heavier in your absence. He could feel the hot tears forming that threatened to fall from his eyes.Â
âMark?â You called out when spotting your boyfriend in your room. Markâs head shot up in surprise, eyes flitting over to your figure in the dark.Â
You rubbed your eyes sleepily by your bedroom door, almost convinced that you too were still dreaming. You were still getting used to him sneaking into your bed at night.Â
Mark immediately stood, nearly stumbling over his feet and pulled you in a tight embrace.Â
âI thought you were gone,â He croaked hoarsely, his face hidden in your hair as he blinked back the tears he didnât want you seeing.Â
You frowned at Mark's sudden distress. You thought Mark being shaken up from the accident would get better with time. But it seemed to only get worse and it was starting to worry you.Â
âWhat are you talking about? Iâm right here Mark,â You reassured, pulling away to hold his face in your hands. His eyes were shut as he leaned into your touch and let out a shaky breath.Â
âI know but-â
âOpen your eyes, Mark. Iâm right here,â You softly reassured him again. Markâs eyes opened, his round brown ones meeting yours in the darkness of your room. His shoulders relaxed when he realized you were correct.Â
You were right there. Perfectly safe in front of him.Â
âIâm sorry,â he apologized at his sudden outburst of anxiety. You only shook your head before telling him itâs okay. You held his hand in yours and gently tugged him to your bed.Â
Laying down on your back, you pulled Markâs body atop of you. His cheek lay comfortably against your chest, with his arms around your midsection and yours looped around his shoulders. Â
Lulled to sleep by the sound of your beating heart, Mark was reminded that you were indeed alive and well.Â
ââ â â ââ ⊠ââ â â ââ
âHas Mark been acting weird since the accident, or is it just me?â Renjun asked randomly a couple of days later in the break room. You and Renjun actually had an internship at the same company so lunches and coffee breaks were a common occasion between you two.
âHe definitely has beenâŚâ You trailed, not being able to find words to explain your boyfriendâs sudden behavior.Â
âOverprotective? Jumpier? Antsy?â Renjun tried to finish your sentence for you, while taking a sip of his latte. You nodded in agreement at all of his word choices before letting out a sigh.Â
Renjun asked why the big sigh and you explained to him about how Mark has been sneaking into your room at night. At first you didn't think much about it, enjoying his company when he slipped under your covers with you. But then came the mumbling of your name in his sleep and him waking up in cold sweats next to you.
It wasnât until that other night when you had finally connected the dots.Â
âI think heâs having nightmares, Jun,â You nervously confessed, picking at your fingernails. A worried expression passed over Renjunâs face before his eyebrows pinched together in confusion.Â
âIt just doesn't make sense though,â Renjun began. âYou, Yeri and Haechan are all fine from the accident. It's not like Mark was there to be as traumatized as he is, right?âÂ
But Renjunâs words made you second guess everything. Mark was supposedly doing some work for his internship that day, but the thought of him potentially being there and how he was there gnawed away at your stomach.Â
Mark Lee, your sweet, dorky boyfriend of two years, might just be Spiderman. It would explain him always being late, the sudden onset of muscles, the injuries and the nightmares since the accident. Additionally, it was still a mystery as to how the red and blue superhero knew your name, practically screaming it before he saved you. Â
Renjun continued to yap to himself, completely missing the way you were lost in thought at the sudden realization.Â
ââ â â ââ ⊠ââ â â ââ
After your internship, you practically ran home.
You had devised a plan to catch Mark in the act of coming home as Spiderman. You were going to sneak in through his window when he wasnât home, waiting it out in the dark. You figured you would use the window, like the way you think he did as Spiderman. The window was the only plausible way to get in and out without getting caught by his aunt. It would also explain how he did it with such comfortability and ease when he came through yours.Â
Arriving home, you changed out of your work clothes into a pair of shorts and one of Markâs hoodies. Then, you tried your best to climb out of your window onto the fire escape. However, it was a lot scarier than you anticipated. Mark was obviously a hundred times more agile and less fearful than you because you were struggling. Really badly.Â
It took you a good five minutes to even make it out of your window and another ten down your creaky fire escape and down to Markâs window.Â
His room was dark. It was only around 4pm and he wasnât due for another hour and a half. Letting out a shaky breath you grabbed on to Markâs window, anticipation building within you. Thereâs no way it would open, right? If the window opened, it may just be a silly coincidence? Maybe he was just a dumbass who kept it unlocked?Â
âHere goes nothing,â you mumbled to yourself before pushing his window up with ease. As you maneuvered your way into his room, you tried to mimic the way he entered yours. A sight that youâve seen one too many times.Â
But again, it was a lot harder than it looked and you practically face planted on to his floor. Thank god that his aunt was working longer hours at the hospital recently. She did not need to hear the loud thud that echoed through the empty apartment. There would have been no good way to explain why you were sneaking into your boyfriendâs room through his window when he wasnât home.Â
You pulled yourself from the ground, shut Markâs window behind you and plopped yourself on his bed. You sat there for about an hour, mindlessly scrolling through your phone, taking small glances towards the window for any sign of him.Â
Another 45 minutes had passed and it seemed like Mark wasnât coming home anytime soon. You decided to look through Twitter for any Spiderman sightings today and sure enough there was a magnitude of them. Maybe it was just another silly coincidence that Mark was 15 minutes late at the same time that Spiderman was seen saving a group of kids.
Before you knew it, your eyelids grew heavy in the comfort of Markâs bed and slumber had taken over you.Â
Thank god for you being a light sleeper because you were awoken by the sound of Markâs window opening. Your eyes flew open as you peeked at the clock on Markâs nightstand.
7:36pm.
From Markâs bed, your eyed the window as a dark figure slid in then shut the window behind them. You sat up as quietly as possible, not wanting to get caught and for your plan to fail.Â
A shadow suddenly passed over you. Your eyes had adjusted in the dark and you had to cover your mouth from letting out the gasp you wanted to let out.Â
Spiderman was crawling on the walls of your boyfriendâs room, making his way to shut the bedroom door that was left slightly ajar.Â
And with a soft click, the bedroom door closed shut. Spiderman plopped gently on to the ground and flicked on the light switch in the room.Â
Light filled the room as your gaze fixated at the superhero with his back towards you. This was real. This was really happening.Â
Oh my god⌠Spiderman is standing in Markâs room! Damn, why is his ass kind ofâŚÂ
You were pulled out of your thoughts when Spiderman reached up to peel off his mask. He pulled it off, shaking out his hair as a sigh of relief passed through his lips.Â
Hand pulled away from your mouth, you were now gaping in shock at the familiar back of head that appeared when the mask came off. It was a haircut you all too well and loved. Dark hair, full on the top, but buzzed underneath with an undercut.Â
Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy fucking shit.Â
The superhero finally turned around and lo and behold, it was indeed the love of your life, Mark fucking Lee.Â
A look of bewilderment emerged on Markâs face when he spotted you on his bed. Eyes wide and mouth slightly ajar, his dark orbs flickered back and forth between you and his door, knowing his aunt was on the other side.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â He hissed approaching you, who still had that stupid look of shock on your face. He would have thought it was a cute expression if he wasnât too busy panicking at the situation at hand.Â
âYouâreâŚâ You trailed in disbelief as you stood, eyes raking over Markâs figure in the Spiderman suit.
You thought that you were going to be able to handle this revelation better, but you felt dizzy. Your head was spinning and feeling heavier than ever causing you to fall back.Â
BANG!Â
Markâs wild eyes went wide again upon hearing the impact of your head against his wall. He swiftly caught you before you hit anything else and gently laid you on his bed, hovering over you worryingly.Â
He heard his aunt call his name, and then the shuffling of her feet approaching his door. Mark immediately pressed the button on his suit that loosened it from his body and discarded it under his bed.Â
The door of his room opened as his auntâs voice rang in, âare you all right? I heard a-Oh!âÂ
She cut herself short at the sight in front of her. Mark was in nothing but a pair of boxers as he hovered over your figure on the bed, whose shorts and hoodie were riding up.Â
Both of your heads shot in her direction, as she mumbled a âsorry! Use protection!â Before shutting the door again behind her.Â
Mark let out a groan, as his forehead pressed against your collar bones peeking out from his baggy hoodie on your body. He was obviously stressed, but you were not.
The shock had finally worn off as you realized that your conclusions were indeed true. Your body began to shake with laughter at the ridiculousness that unfolded in the past five minutes.Â
âDonât even start,â Mark threatened, feeling that familiar rumble of your body. This was not how he wanted you to find out, but honestly the way it played out was so you. He was just glad you found out on your own.Â
She is one nosy girl. My nosy girl⌠Mark thought to himself.Â
âSo my boyfriend is Spiderman, huh?â You piped up, pushing Mark so you could sit crossed legged on his bed.
Mark mirrored your position and looked at you, a teasing smile gracing your lips as your hand came up to brush his messy hair out of his face.Â
âWhy didnât you tell me?â You asked, expression turning serious now at his silence.Â
A look of defeat appeared on his handsome face. Mark pondered on it for a moment too. Why couldnât he bring himself to tell you? He wanted so badly to just spill it out to you many times, but he also couldnât.Â
âI..â He started. Your gaze softened as you continued to brush through his onyx locks.Â
âI think I was scared,â he confessed. Your brows pinched together in confusion.Â
âScared? Scared of what?â
âI donât know,â Mark shrugged honestly, not fully understanding himself either. âI thought I would scare you away or lose you. Or even worse of all, put you in a position where you got hurt because of my secret identity..â
âMark..â You frowned at your boyfriend. âI would never leave you, you know that right?âÂ
No answer.Â
âBesides, Haechan was the one who almost got me dead anyways,â You tried to joke but Mark flinched at your words. âIâm sorry, too soon?â
Mark nodded as you moved closer to him so your knees were touching his.Â
âI thought I almost lost you,â he breathed out shakily, eyes shut as the memory replayed over in his head.Â
âHey,â you called out, cradling his face in your hands. âBut you saved me.âÂ
âBarely,â Mark spat out, chuckling bitterly. You frowned again, brushing your thumbs against his cheek as he brought up a hand to hold yours on his face.Â
âThe memory of the accident, I canât get it out of my head. The feeling of your fingers slipping out of my mine. The sounds of your screams when you fell back. And that look of horror on your face before I dove after you is plagued in my mind.
"I keep thinking of what would have happened if I wasnât there or if my body didnât move fast enough. Itâs been eating away at me for weeks,â Mark rambled, eyes now open to look at you. His eyes welled up with tears as he revisited the memory in his brain.Â
âIs that why youâve been having nightmares?âÂ
âYou knew?âÂ
Now it was your turn to shrug.Â
âI was wondering why you kept sneaking into my room, but it wasnât until that night when I got up to use the bathroom that I confirmed it.â You explained. âPlus, you talk in your sleep.âÂ
Mark let out a weak chuckle at your words, as the tears finally freed from his eyes. You were quick to brush them away as you smiled at him.Â
âYou saved me and thatâs why Iâm right here in front of you,â You softly stated, hoping to get him out of his head.
You didnât want him to continue beating himself over the what ifâs, but to focus on what did happen. And what happened was that he came through and saved you.Â
âI know but-â Mark sniffled. He attempted to turn his head away, a little embarrassed at the sudden tears. But your firm grasp on his face didnât allow him to.Â
Mark met your eyes, that shined with tenderness and love, and he melted under your gaze.Â
âMy strong superhero,â You cut him off with a proud smile on your face, pressing a kiss to his cheek.Â
âMy handsome boyfriend,â You pressed another kiss to his other cheek. Markâs eyes fluttered shut at the feeling, his shoulders relaxing now.
âMy Mark,â You moved to pressed a kiss to his nose. His face scrunched up at the ticklish feeling and you let out a low laugh.
âMy Spiderman,â You pressed a final kiss to his lips. Markâs cheeks were now burning from your words. But for the first time that night, Mark smiled as he moved his lips against yours.Â
Pulling away, you searched Markâs face as he did with yours. His previous anxiety ridden face was now relaxed as a loving smile replaced it. Your heart warmed seeing that perfect boyish smile that belonged to Mark.Â
Mark reached out, pressing a thankful kiss to your temple as you melted under his touch enjoying every second of this moment with him.Â
But then you opened your mouth and ruined the moment.Â
âSo⌠can the suit stay on during sex?âÂ
âBabe.â
âI canât help it! It just looks so sexy on you, especially your ass!âÂ

Waking up with a bad headache never felt good but you quickly sat up. Shocked by how cold the concrete floor felt. Last night was weirdâŚall you could remember was hanging out with Renjun. Watching him make you dinner and dancing around the kitchen. Everything was fine until he gave you a glass of wine. Once you finished it your head started to spin and your vision started to get blurry. While you tried to ask what was happening, Renjun shushed you.
âitâs okay baby, soon everything will be perfect! Happy little family like we talked aboutâ his hands came up to hold your head before brushing your hair with his fingers. âjust go to sleepâ
Hurriedly you tried to stand up but felt a chain around your neck hold you back. A soft laughter made your body go completely still. âyouâre so cute!â
âWhere am I?â you asked dreading the answer
âyouâre with meâ You finally saw the face to the voice you came to love so much. He didnât look like Renjun anymore. Yes he physically looked like himself but there was something different in his eyes.
âwhy are you doing thisâ you cried, all the adrenaline you had in you leaving. ďżź
âWeâre gonna be a family, I even made sure to keep Jaemin alive cause you like him so muchâ he smiled âbut not as much as you like me, right?â
Tears filled your eyes. Not knowing if you were crying because of everything happening or because you will get to see Jaemin again.
Renjun grabbed your face rougher than he has ever done before âbaby i asked you a question. You donât want to upset meâ he huffed âsay you love meâ
âi love youâ you whispered
Renjun smiled brightly as if he was still the boy you fell in love with. âNow you wait here! Hyuck came up with the smartest plan to get chenle and jisungâ Renjun got up from his spot next to you and started to walk away.
You started screaming a bunch pleads âDONâT HURT THEM PLEASE JUST LEAVE THEM OUT OF THIS! IâLL PROMISE TO BE GOOD!â
Renjun turned towards you again. Lips frowning as his shoulders moved up as if was saying âi donât knowâ with his body. âThey did this to themselves, always coming up with stupid theoriesâ
Renjun turned to leave but stopped at the bottom of the stairs to blow you a kiss âsee you later princessâ

pairing spiderman!mark x female!reader
synopsis mark has tried to hide his secret identity from you for as long as possible, to keep you safe, of course. little does he know that youâve untangled his web of lies long ago and will do anything in your power to get him to admit it. just when you've had enough of him lying to you, he ends up getting caught in the act trying to save your life.
genre established relationship, fighting (if you squint), lots of fluff, slight violence and cat-calling, slightly suggestive, mark calls reader âmy girlâ and âpretty girlâ.

âdo you think that spiderman guy is actually as good as everyone says he is?â you ask mark, who lay peacefully in your lap as your fingers ran through his hair.
you two had been hanging out after school, as you usually do, watching random channels while you both indulged in each other's day. however, you had articulated this hangout the night prior.
a few days ago, you had aimlessly been searching through markâs backpack in hopes of finding your calculus notes, which you had so graciously let him borrow, only to stumble upon a very familiar red and black mask balled up in the bottom.
at first, you thought mark had hit peak fangirl. he was obsessed with the superhero after all, completely drawn to the tv or newspaper whenever spiderman was mentioned, but so was every other human being in your city.
so when you began noticing how markâs late-night appearances and âfashionably lateâ activities began lining up with the famous building-swinging superhero, your mind put the pieces together.
you tried to understand his point of view and why he wouldnât reveal this very key detail about himself. it hurt you, though, feeling as though there was something in you that made him not feel comfortable enough to expose himself to you.
so, you compiled a plan to get the truth out of him organically, or as organically as this could be.
âwha⌠what do you mean?â your boyfriendâs head quickly snapped up, turning on his palm to face you with a questionable look knitted into his features.
a smile teasingly pulled on your lips, knowing you had hit a sore spot in his ego. how couldnât he be proud of himself? after all, he was known as the hero of your city.
âi donât know,â you continued, leaning back against the couch, watching your boyfriend swing from building to building on the screen in front of your bodies. âhe just seems too full of himself, like cool you can swing from buildings and hang upside down, but we have police and firefighters for a reason!â
it took everything in you to not break character, slowly watching markâs face grow red at your painful statements. he just looked at you, eyes blown wide and brows pulled so close together that you were certain he could get stuck like that.
with a small giggle, you reached out, brushing your thumb between the crease in his brows and bringing it down to caress his cheek.
âwhatâs with the face, baby? donât tell me you're obsessed with him too.â his face slowly relaxed as your soft hand held his face, but his brain was still scrambling with your previous statements.
how could you find him not absolutely amazing? he could swing from buildings and hang upside down!
âyou donât think heâs cool? not even a little bit?â markâs eyes followed yours to the screen. spiderman now being shown saving an older woman from getting mugged.
âi think heâs cool, i guess.â you looked back at your boyfriend only to find his eyes already on your face, his previous expression appearing again. âbabe, you canât be serious.â mark leaned back, feeling completely bewildered by your nonchalant attitude towards his heroic duties.
âitâs not that big of a deal."itâs not like youâre spiderman, so why should it matter if i like him or not?â you titled your head away from the screen to watch his eyes grow wide, and you could audibly hear his breath hitch.
âbutâŚâ he quickly let out before catching himself, looking at the tv to see his segment disappear. âbut what?â you teased, beginning to feel bad for your ministrations.
he looked back at your face, sighing heavily. ânothing, just like the guy a bit," he said before lying back in your lap to hide his face from you.
this was going to be a lot harder than you thought.
âhey baby~â mark cooed as he stepped into your apartment, takeout bags in hand. you quickly sprung up from your spot at the counter, running to hug your boyfriend after not seeing him for awhile.
after your first attempt to disclose his true identity was unsuccessful, you held off from bringing up the topic for awhile.
but you had finally decided to take a different approach this time.
âi missed you, pretty girl.â the nickname made your cheeks heat up as his cold hands held your face in front of his. he inspected you lovingly, relishing in the fact that he could finally hold you without school being in the way.
âmissed you too," you replied before kissing him softly. mark dropped the plastic bag on the counter beside him, pulling you firmly against him. his lips were almost enough to make you forget about your plan.
almost.
âgod, iâm hungry.â you pulled away, making him laugh at your cute antics, and he joined you on your couch to eat. as you sat, you pulled off your (markâs) sweatshirt to reveal the key details of your plan.
mark quickly noticed the black spiderman logo displayed across your chest, at a loss for how quickly your opinion of him changed. âyou like?â you asked, flaunting the red baby tee you had bought earlier that day.
âi- i thought you thought spiderman was stupid." he nearly choked on his food, trying not to blush at the image of his girl repping him like this.
âi never said he was stupid, mark. i just thought he was overhyped, but i now understand where all the love is coming from.â you looked down, ogling at your new shirt, sure of its effect on your boyfriend.
âohâŚâ he tried to fight the grin, trying to cover his lips, but couldnât contain his relief. âglad you finally came around, baby.â he smiled before shoving his face with more food.
âyouâre not jealous?â you asked, beginning to take on step two of your plan. âhe is a guy, after all.â
this made mark actually choke on his food. âwhat? why would i be jealous about that?"
âi mean, your girlfriend wearing a shirt for some muscular superhero who is most definitely sickly hot under that skin tight suit he wears while saving lives." you went on swirling your fork in your food, looking up every so often to see markâs cheeks darken at the compliments.
he held his head down, but not enough for his flushed ears and cheeks to go unoticed. âwhy are you so red, baby? i still like you more, you know; spiderman canât take you away from me.â you reached over and combed your fingers through his hair to feign worry.
âthat is, unless he happens to swing by and sweep me up with his insane muscles.â you winked, making your boyfriend turn into a tomato.
âyeah, you wish he would do that.â mark joked, trying to deflate his growing pride, which you continued to boost.
âwhat? are you saying iâm not worthy of spidermanâs fantastic biceps picking me up and swinging me through the night sky?â mark looked at you quizzically.
you couldnât be serious, could you?
mark discarded his food, crawling over to trap you beneath his body. "fantastic, you say... and what are these?â he made reference to his own muscular arms peeking through his fitted white tee.
"marvelous," you replied, sliding your fingers softly over your boyfriend's muscles. how lovely it was that you didnât have to dream of spidermanâs biceps as they sat right in front of you.
âbetter than fantastic in my book.â mark smiled before catching your lips in his.
your spiderman shirt was soon discarded in that moment but continued to linger in markâs head days later.
âiâm just gonna go grab a few things. i promise i wonât be long.â you stood in your doorway, attempting to run to the store to get a few things before it got too late.
mark hated this.
âwhy cant i just go get it or go with you?â mark wrapped his arms around you from behind, making it increasingly difficult to slide on your shoes. he kissed you all over your neck and face, held your hand, pulled at your jacket sleeves, and even attempted to block the door entirely to try and get you to stay, but you were as determined as you ever were.
âiâm a grown woman, mark. i can run down the block by myself.â you turned around in his arms, reaching for your keychain next to his head on the wall, hanging by a hook.
âitâs dangerous out there. wouldnât want my pretty girl getting hurt.â he slouched against the wall, still holding onto your hand as your whole body nearly made it out the door.
âgood thing spiderman will be there to save me from any danger.â you teased him before slamming the door in his face, preventing him from getting anymore words out. not that he could form any from your statement anyway.
as you made your way through the isles of the tiny convenience store down the block from your place, you began to notice a dark figure popping into your vision.
a man decked out in all black and wearing a dark baseball cap pulled down just enough to hide his eyes followed your trail through the store.
he just coincidentally needs the same things, plus itâs freezing outside. thatâs why heâs covered up so much, you thought. you can't say much about covering up with your giant black puffer jacket nearly swallowing you whole.
as your shopping trip continued, you couldnât help but notice the figure not picking up a single item they inspected.
how weird, you thought.
âhave a nice night!â the sweet cashier bid you goodbye before you quickly made your way out of the store.
as you exited the glass doors, the figure from earlier greeted you outside. your steps increased in speed as you noticed the figure continuing to follow your path.
you: mark could you meet me outside
you: creepy dude wonât stop following me
you: dude answer the phone
you: mark come on this is serious
you huffed, knowing the figure was still following you from a distance and aggravated by mark ignoring your texts.
âwhatâs a pretty girl like you doing out here alone at night?â the figure spoke from your side, somehow managing to come up beside you without you noticing.
you stayed silent, pretending to be interested in the cement beneath your feet.
âhey! iâm talking to you!â the voice barked, noticeably irritated by your lack of interest. âi asked you a question, bitch!â a hand grabbed your wrist tightly, stopping you in your tracks.
thinking it was the figure, your body froze seeing spiderman right in front of you. stumbling back, you watched your hero step in and fight off the creepy man, knocking him over before webbing him to the alley wall ahead.
âtry and speak to her again, and youâll get much worse than a few webs on you.â the familiar voice of your boyfriend came out deep and threatening, making your breath hitch. you had never heard him speak like that.
while the bum continued to try and yell through the webs plastered over his mouth, spiderman turned to check on you.
âeverything all right? he didnât touch you or hurt you, babe- i mean, mam?â the fumbling of words made you laugh slightly, knowing the dork under the mask.
âiâm all right, thanks to you, spiderman.â you swooned, so caught up with the fact that your own boyfriend was spiderman and that he had practically beaten and webbed a man to a wall for you.
âwhat could i ever do to repay you?â you asked, trying not to trip over your own feet at the way the suit hugged markâs muscle so well. more than any t-shirt ever could.
âjust doing my job, as always.â spiderman leaned his body against the wall smoothly, resting his head against his fist. you two stood there in a few seconds of silence, both not knowing what to do.
âyou better get headed home; itâs getting late.â he coughed, finally breaking out of his daze.
âno swinging around the city for me?â you asked, pretty disappointed that your boyfriend was about to make you walk home alone. âno can do, web swinging with lovely ladies is a daytime activity only; i wouldnât want anyone to miss it.â he pulled his body from the wall, shooting up a web to hang from a sign above your heads.
âwhat a shame. guess youâll just have to give me a show of the city another day," you replied, watching as mark swung his legs over the sign to hang upside down effortlessly.
definitely trying to impress me, you thought.
âi can see what i can do.â he crossed his arms over his chest before you stepped forward on your tiptoes, placing your hand on his cheek, making him short circuit.
âthanks again, spiderman.â you spoke, leaning into him to place a quick kiss on his mask-covered cheek.
âof-of course. any day, mam,â his voice cracked at your actions, making you laugh as you turned away to walk home.
mark hung in bliss before realizing he was supposed to be at your place, not saving your life in a spidey suit.
you rushed through the door, dropping your bag on the ground and making a beeline to your room. the only place with a window mark could slide through without getting caught.
you swung open your door to reveal a maskless spiderman half way through your bedroom window, eyes wide, body frozen.
you froze in shock, almost surprised that your plan had finally worked. "gotcha," you smiled, leaning against your door frame satisfied.
âuhâŚâ mark scrambled, attempting to put his mask back on as if it would make you forget seeing his face entirely. as he tripped and tumbled around your room, you slowly made you way behind him.
âmark,â you began, attempting to get him to calm down. âbaby,â you turned him slowly as he finally got his mask back on. âmark? whoâs mark? that your boyfriend or something?â he attempted to deepen his voice to throw you off.
he realized this was unsurprisingly unsuccessful, noticing the smirk that continued to show on your face. âyou know him, donât you, spiderman? heâs the boy who just kicked ass and saved my life less than ten minutes ago.â you said, gently pulling off his mask to reveal your boyfriendâs face.
he stared at you, not knowing how you felt. âlook, i can explain this all,â he nervously let out as he looked anywhere but your eyes.
before he could explain, you kissed him softly, wanting to ease his worry and express your gratitude. he saved your life after all, and not just by being spiderman.
âiâm not mad, not at all.â you looked into his eyes, noticing how at ease he seemed to be at the relief of your words.
âiâm so sorry i didnât tell you sooner. i was so scared you wouldnât want to be with me or be scared of me,â he ranted, trying to make you see his side in case you had lied and were even the littlest bit mad at him. he hated when you were mad at him more than anything.
âwhy would i not want to be with you? i love you, mark, so much, itâs crazy.â you pulled his face into your hands in disbelief at his words. âand plus, how could i be scared of such a handsome, strong, crime-fighting superhero who so happens to double as my boyfriend. if anything, people should fear me,â you joked, ripping a laugh from his lips.
âhow long have you known?â he asked, pulling you closer by your waist. biting your lip, you looked down, trying to hold back your laugh. âremember when you borrowed my notes for class and forgot to give them back?"
you didnât even have to finish, seeing the realization wash over his face as the words fell from your lips.
âyeah, maybe putting your suit in your backpack wasnât the best place.â you both laughed at the situation at hand; mark was completely dumbfounded.
âso thatâs why you talked such shit about me and bought that stupid shirt!â he continued to put together the pieces, gripping your waist tighter as he laughed at his own stupidity.
"ding, ding, ding!â you replied, pulling away slightly to take in his whole look, still not being used to see him like this up close. âyeah, definitely need to see you in this more often now."
mark flushed, turning into putty in your presence. your eyes traveled all over the intricate details and meshing of the suit. how it hugged his body and made him look completely unreal.
âdo a little spin for me, doll.â you teased, wanting to ease up all the pent-up emotions still hanging in the air. mark giggled at your stupid comment but did as you asked nonetheless, turning slowly for you.
turning completely to the back, not a second went by before mark felt a harsh slap on his skin. âfuck baby! what was that for?â he whined, reaching down to rub the irritated spot.
"sorry, i couldnât help myself when you have an ass like that, mark lee.â you smiled at his pained expression, putting your arms back to lean against your vanity, still ogling at your boyfriendâs physique.
âguess i really do need to wear this more around you.â he placed his hands on either side of you, trapping you beneath him.
âmaybe the story time can wait till later.â you breathed before his lips pressed themselves to yours.
âi love you so much, my girl."
âi love you too, spidey boy.â
now you had mark completely to yourself, spiderman and all with no secrets left to hide.

LETS FALL IN LOVE FOR THE NIGHT
L. DHYUCK

âLetâs fall in love.â
âAre you out of your mind?â Bringing your hand up to his forehead, you check his temperature expecting to feel him burning up. Much to your surprise, he felt his normal temp of warm. âIâm serious.â He says, lightly laughing as he pulls your hand from his forehead. Giving him a puzzled look, you tilt your head while meeting his eyes. Looking into them, you thought youâd find any hint that he was playing with you, but he seemed pretty firm in his request.
âJust for the night, you never know whatâll happen.â Smiling, he intertwined his fingers with yours. The warmth of his hand sent chills up your arm and down your spine. âWho are you and what exactly have you done with my best friend?â
âIâm right here, always have been and always will.â You didnât know exactly how to process his words or the current situation over all. The two of you were sitting on a park bench in the middle of winter, holding hands under the light of a street lamp like two lovers straight out of a modern fairytale. You looked down at your hands, sorting through the mess of your thoughts while he wordlessly watches you.
âWhy?â Is all you can say, afraid of his answer, but more afraid of not knowing. âIf you think about it, it makes sense actually.â He starts to rub his thumb on your skin, bringing a smile to your face. âIâm the boy that every boy youâve ever been with was scared about, I know every word to every song you like and yet Iâve always been the best friend who never got his chance.â
You donât know why you felt your eyes start to sting, there wasnât a direct reason as to why you should be crying, but your heart slowly started to crack. âDonât waste your time with anyone else, just for tonightâŚI know better than to ever call you mine, so donât be scared.â
âWhat Iâm scared of is this sudden switch.â Trying to lighten the mood, you shove him with your shoulder. He laughs, throwing his head back with closed eyes. âWe can forget in the morning, if that makes you feel any better.â You let out a heavy breath, blinking away the tears that slowly slide down your cheeks. Immediately, he wipes away each tear, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. âDonât cry, please donât cry..I never meant to make yo-â You lean into his touch, swallowing the bittersweet taste on your tongue.
âOkay.â To your surprise, Haechan doesnât react. He doesnât question you nor does he pull away. Instead, he leans his head against yours that found its way against his shoulder. The two of you sat in silence, blurring the world around you out and relishing in this moment with each other. Your mind was racing, rethinking every moment the two of you had spent together leading up to this moment and bringing you one conclusion. You two were meant to be here, together in the middle of the city at ungodly hours with no one else around and maybe, just maybe, this moment wonât have to last just for tonight.
