After months of pattern searching, brainstorming, colour choosing, swatch sampling, and excel charting, I have finally cast on a set of matching jumpers for me and my partner! 🥳
(and then frogged and reknit about 4 times coz the alternate colours showing as purl on the right side of the ribbing was not the vibe, and also I forgot 2 stitches in my cast on 🤦)
Pattern is TBC, I'll create it as I knit. Took inspiration patterns (like the Marella vest, and Adrenal Jumper), random inspiration cable photos or charts on Pinterest. I also want armpit gussets like a traditional Guernsey, coz they look neat as hell.
But please enjoy the bonus of my little doodled guide and random adjustment scribbles.
Mine is the purple main colour, with alternative main colour orange and supplementary alternate colour yellow.
Partner chose the main colour blue, and main alternate colour yellow and supplementary alternate colour orange.
All wool is from Bendigo Woollen Mills, rustic tweed and Luxury for alternate colours, all 8ply.
Pattern will be the same for both. Ideally fit will be well shaped to the body, small amount of positive ease but not loose.
This way they are the same and connect nicely with colours, but it's our own main colour 🙂 I've been working on this concept for over a year, I'm so excited and nervous to make them good.
(Bonus bonus, after dividing the alternate colours into 16 balls each, I'm storing them in bags to keep track of what belongs to each jumper 😆)
Now I know myself, I'll work in stops and starts, and will reach a point, decide I hate something about it, have to frog, and then put it down for a few months. Especially if I've made my neckline too high. So this will be finished when it's finished. But so so so happy to have made a start!!
The "Geoff" corriedale fleece is still a wip,but got a nice shoebox full of prepped locks for worsted spinning. Figured out the right set up for doing it inside, so it was thoroughly enjoyable with the tv on.
Jellybean utterly adores this specific fleece, I wish I knew what was special about it...

Working on some hand dyed cheviot wool braids, from Waratah Fibres. The purple braid is finished now, going to finish the yellow and then ply them both as 2ply from centre pull balls.
Love the colour combo, but not sure what they're destined for yet

2x bags off the same sheep, each 1.1kg. so 2.2 kg of dark brown/dark grey border Leicester. Very soft handle, gorgeous colour. Some weathering in the tips. I've started cleaning the first chunk, it's come out beautiful with some detergent in cold water. Staples approx. 100mm long, sound, very little VM!
It's getting cooler here, and I started well past midday so not much sun to help the drying. Luckily I'm very clever and the oven has a warmer :))
Grey fleece (bottom of photo):
Also border Leicester, also 2.2kg. similar qualities I think, strong and weathered tips, beautifully soft handle.
Piebald fleece (middle right of first photo):
A giant bag of corriedale. I was so surprised by the colours, I half expected it to be Jacob, but that would be a new one for me in this country. It's 3.25kg, and very very soft, almost like merino.
White fleece (middle left of photo):
A merino X Charollais, as I couldn't find any Charollais tops this time. It's little, only 0.5kg and the grower warned it's a stinky sheep. But I enjoyed my first foray into the breed so much, keen to explore further.

Needed more soft mats to protect the dining table, so finally got to use my new olive oil felting soap and work through a little more of this merino stash.
I made a carrot and beetroot, the partner made a fish 🐟
Logically I know they shrink so much during the process, but omg I made them as big as my bubble wrap sheet could handle and they still look tiny now!
