Hey look I’m alive! And I posted (very self indulgent) art!
Basically I was re-listening to Paris the musical and I went down a mild rabbit hole of different 80’s fashion trends- so this is a vaguely glam rock/new romantics inspired Achilles (although the outfits are way more intricate that I had the time/attention span for)
I think I'm happy with this! The main thing that bugged me was I made his hair too bright initially so I just toned it down! (hence the highlights looking a little dull lol)
There are other things throwing me off buuuuut this is good enough

uhhhh pros of this au: we have protective big brother zagreus, the crossroads meli and zag bonding; cons of this au: hades 2 accurate wartime horrors, angst, he is literally Deathless (he misses his Cherished Partner Thanatos), he misses Everyone, he's just not a brother/he's taken the parental role too
since i did start making this au while playing ea, zag's concept design is based on early access family portrait + meshed it with h1 zag and h1 family portait outfit + crossroads vibes (silver and moons all around bc i love the moon) and it's me refining this rough sketch as well!! while mel's design is based on this jen zee illustration for the edge magazine... i love her... also im still trying to figure out how i wanna draw her hair, so sometimes it's straightened, sometimes its curly
zag can spawn as an npc in the crossroads at the reconstructed taverna, working on parchment work. after this, he will be seen sometimes occasionally talking to odysseus or hecate. low chance of seeing him around - but guaranteed if you encounter him as the boss for erebus!!! can be given nectar/ambrosia when you see him
as being the erebus boss, he uses varatha/spear from h1. he also interchanges with hecate like how the fury sisters would have turns in the first game. since mel and zag never actually vanquish each other, defeating zag is one way to get more story out of him, leading him to tell mel more in the crossroads
unrivaled zag would have the aspect of achilles on varatha, bc he's a hater LMFAOOO, this is also when his death defiance kicks in that becomes his phase 2

hark back, melinoe - 3.k words - meli & zag - Melinoe gives a surprise nectar exchange leading to a keepsake given by her brother. (one of my earlier fics for this fandom.. its not as polished but it holds a special place in my heart)
petrichor within our veins - 6.k words - meli & zag, background thanzag - Zagreus tests Melinoë at the edge of Erebus, becoming her biggest obstacle as of late. Until she decides to bring the Moonstone Axe in a certain aspect.
