she smiled back at him, scooting even closer to him than they were before. her old copy of moby dick was held in her hands, only a couple pages left before the ending. heather was pretty sure that she had each page and each line memorized by now with the amount of times she’s read it. within a few minutes, she was on the last sentence.

       closing the book and resting her head on his shoulder,        green doll-like eyes looked up at him. even if he HATED        the book, there was no way he would be able to say that        to a face like hers.

              ❝ did you like it? ❞ she asked, slight hopefulness               in her voice as she sunk herself deeper into his chest. 

      she smells sweet with heather’s perfume & scented shampoo       drifting under his nose. if she isn’t looking nice ( which is       damn near impossible ) her smell does wonders to allure him.       he leans close, practically that his chest is touching her       shoulder, while shifting glances from the book to her. the       temptation to poke at her sides is resisted-- for now.

      up until her head rested on his shoulder, his arm automatically       draping around her, “shoot, showed me how tuff whales       could be,” a JOKE from the grin that suddenly came up       on his lips. it’s accompanied by his fingers trailing onto her       side, prodding at her lightly since he knows that’s a very       sensitive spot.

      “wait, y’wanna see my blade?”

     “what’s a lady like you hangin’ around here?” he looks up,       tucking his switchblade away back into his pocket. that’s       new, he figures, as he finds himself seeing someone of a       very different class around these parts of the neighborhood.       if anything, his question comes out more surprised than        curious. 

      “you wanna head out to a party        later? i'm plannin’ to get buzzed.”
