That time I made my acting debut on HBO’s Silicon Valley. (With TJ Miller as Erlich, season 1, episode 7.)
This happened by itself, without pushing, and it taught me to think again when something seems impossible.

“I am a big lover of asking profound and deep questions. I call this “inquiry.” Questioning is not safe; answers are safe. Accepting someone else’s answers is safe, an ideology is safe, and a theology is safe. We seek the “right” answers because we think they will make us comfortable, protect us, and insulate us from suffering. We grasp at the first thing that makes us feel better, but truth may or may not make you feel better—some truths are beautiful, and some are shocking. However, a great vitality comes with discovering any truth, because that which is real is charged with life-force, energy, and power.”
– Adyashanti, The Most Important Thing, 2019
All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible.

"Ideas are like fish. If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you’ve got to go deeper. Down deep, the fish are more powerful and more pure. They’re huge and abstract. And they’re very beautiful." "I learned that just beneath the surface, there's another world, and still different worlds as you dig deeper. I knew it as a kid, but I couldn't find the proof. It was just a kind of feeling. There is goodness in blue skies and flowers, but another force – a wild pain and decay – also accompanies everything." David Lynch Catching the Big Fish
I have no right to call myself one who knows. I was one who seeks, and I still am, but I no longer seek in the stars or in books; I'm beginning to hear the teaching of my blood pulsing within me. My story isn't pleasant, it's not sweet and harmonious like the invented stories; it tastes of folly and bewilderment, of madness and dream, like the life of all people who no longer want to lie to themselves.
Hermann Hesse, Demian
What kind of people are creating our future and the ongoing revolutions big and small?
What does it take to be a revolutionary, whether an entrepreneur, programmer, scientist or artist? What kind of things do all the “crazy ones” struggle with?
What makes a hero? Can I be one? How do heroes get over failure?
I speak about all this and tell stories of futuremakers, especially inspiring women in science and technology, in my talk at Creative Mornings Helsinki. Slides here.
If you want me to speak at your event, see contact.

Monday inspiration.
Stories of Strange Women by J. Y. F. Cooke.
“Ten times I saw them beaten down. Ten times they rose, and fought again.”
Niin kauan kuin teknologiaa luo homogeeninen joukko, moni maailman ongelma jää ratkaisematta, sanoo tietokirjailija Tuuti Piippo.
My interview with Image, a Finnish magazine, on how and why tech needs women.
Finland’s biggest daily newspaper on the topic of my book today:
“The world would be a better place if more women learned to code”
Today, a new book.
Futuremakers is about inspiring women who build technology around the world. It’s published in Finnish first, hopefully in English soon.
I’ve interviewed programmers, entrepreneurs, investors, makers, rocket scientists, artists and educators like Caterina Fake (Flickr), Christina Brodbeck (YouTube), Jean Hsu (Medium), Poornima Vijayashanker (Femgineer) and others to show what you can do by combining technical skills, creativity and the will to make something meaningful in the world. From online communities to robotic arms that fix satellites in space.
Read the first stories (in Finnish) for free here.
Excited!
Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.

Magnetic North, Tiina Törmänen
My homeland, nothing less.
It's somehow always easier to remember your essence as stardust here in the North.
You must not fear, hold back, count or be a miser with your thoughts and feelings. It is also true that creation comes from an overflow, so you have to learn to intake, to imbibe, to nourish yourself and not be afraid of fullness. The fullness is like a tidal wave which then carries you, sweeps you into experience and into writing. Permit yourself to flow and overflow, allow for the rise in temperature, all the expansions and intensifications. Something is always born of excess: great art was born of great terrors, great loneliness, great inhibitions, instabilities, and it always balances them.
Anais Nin
