I haven’t posted properly about my ALL HAIL CHAOS launch yet because I become overcome every time I think about it.

Listen, my meta fantasy with gang of chaos gremlin bisexuals criminals etc and there’s a musical book went over better than I could have dreamed but sequels are tricky and I know I made you guys wait - I was sick but also I knew the book could be better!

But people came! People flew in to come and brought me flowers and one reader said something very insightful about Glacia and Diane Duane came (!!!) and Sarah Maria Griffin did an introduction so sincere and beautiful it made me wish to cry. I’m not very good at being sincere without cracking jokes but I tried to be in this blog post.

I did try to give a reader a skull. Mistakes were made.

I am so grateful, for those who came and those who were there in spirit.

It’s time. Five years after Dreams of the Dying, the next two books in the Twelfth World series are now available for preorder, at a special discount. The books are currently being printed, and will ship around the final week of March 2026.

The Cure for Living is a single story told in two volumes. It concludes Jespar’s saga.

To unite humanity and vanquish the Darkness, the destructive force within all of us that makes the world the wretched place that it is.  When veteran Jespar tre Moreste reaches the fabled City of Sages forty years later, his only concern is finding Loanne, the sister he once abandoned. Little does he know that his journey will soon lead him into the dark underbelly of the supposed paradise, where ruthless crime syndicates mingle with death cults and forbidden schools of philosophy. As old wounds resurface and reality fractures, Jespar realizes that even after the tumultuous events of Kilay, he still has demons of his own to conquer — and that often, the most charming masks hide the vilest of minds.

At over 1,200 pages, this is one of the most ambitious and complex stories I’ve ever written. Even though it took much longer to complete than I expected, every second of it was worth it. It’s a story about identity, obsession, and how quickly we can become the very thing we’re fighting. It’s also a tale of grief and letting go.

Like Dreams of the Dying, these books come in three editions: eBook, paperback, and premium hardcover.

This time, I chose not to use a print-on-demand provider and instead oversaw the printing process myself. That decision allowed for significantly higher quality across both physical editions, especially the hardcover. This is why quantities are limited for now - for this first edition, I simply couldn’t afford to print more. It’s an indie novel in every sense of the word.

Both hardcovers feature full-color sprayed edges, gold foil lettering on a matte-laminated dust jacket, and a colored bookmark. Part One of The Cure for Living also includes a full-color, 140-page appendix illustrated by Dominik Derow. See the store description for more details.

All editions also include a stunning watercolor map of the oasis city of Qûrrab by Francesca Baerald, cartographer for franchises such as Warhammer, Game of Thrones, and World of Warcraft.

I’m blessed and honored to have collaborated with several gifted artists on this novel—from my amazing friends Dominik Derow (illustration), Johanna Krünes (layout), and David Müller (linguistics), to my editor, my typesetter, to the various scientific advisers who helped make the world feel so much more textured. All are listed in the acknowledgments. 💜

The third book - and Jespar’s saga as a whole - is dedicated to my dear friend Katharina Lippenberger, a gifted author, poet, and beautiful mind who didn’t live to see it finished.

I'm having a two book summer, and celebrating with Bakka-Phoenix and Tundra Books!

An Uncommon Betrothal is releasing in paperback this Sunday the 16th!

The book is about a lonely and isolated disabled gentleman, Alexos Fox, who basically buries himself in his classical study and avoids virtually all socialisation outside of the house. He feels listless and undesirable as a result of his scars and limited mobility, being a polio survivor, and more than that, he’s terrified of being caught easily by policeman if he ever does go where the gay people are: he’s resolved himself to being alone and unfucked, unfucking, for the rest of his life.

Enter the new butler, Henry Sutton, appointed by his uncle, the outgoing retiree. Harry’s Uncle Reginald has quite the little plan in place: his idea is to affiance these two, after a fashion, to one another, and Harry immediately attempts a seduction of his new employer with aplomb and verve.

Given that Mr Sutton is tall, fat, muscular, tattooed, and pierced? Well. How is Alexos to resist?

An Uncommon Betrothal is an erotic romance, but it’s about half-balanced between the initial relationship between Alexos and Harry, how they come to like one another, how they come together, and also about Alexos’ own exploration of queerness and desire, as well as his own desirability.

This is a standalone novel, but there’ll be many more books featuring these two and their adventures both together and in parallel, so there’s a lot more disabled kinky sex in the 1920s to come!

If you are in Leeds or Bradford, or you’re able to travel from farther afield to be with us, we’re running the launch at Wharf Chambers, which is a nice accessible gay bar very near to the bus station. We’re in the function room of Wharf, and there are two entrances. You can either come in via the front door, where you have to step up two steps, or you can go down the side alley and come in via the back, and it’s got a much easier ramp for a wheelchair or frame. The back room is on two levels, but has ramps to make moving between them easier.

The event is free, but it’s very helpful if you do grab a free ticket to give us a better idea of how many people are coming! You can grab tickets here on Eventbrite – as well as the free ones, you can also buy a £5 ticket, where we’ll have some wine set aside for you and that’s guaranteed, and you’ll also get a bookmark and a badge of your choice!

Pre-orders directly from me have gone out except for some larger orders that are multiple books.

As well as advertising in the local papers, I’ve put up a bunch of local posters and flyers over the past few months, and a bunch of new ones this week.

And in the pre-ordered ones sent from us, as well as the books for sale on Sunday, I’ve used my ex libris stamp that has a Japanese water demon on it, as well as some anchor stamps! I’ve stamped about 50 books tonight, so I just need to do the rest of our stock tomorrow.

My children, as you can imagine, were desperately trying to get close enough to get black ink on their noses or paws or whatever other part of their bodies they could use to smear it all over the flat, but I manfully and cunningly prevented their advance.

Very excited to see everybody this Sunday, and hope that everyone enjoys their books as they receive them, please feel free to tag me in posts and such once you get them, and of course, let me know how you enjoy the new book. This weekend we had a party with friends and family to celebrate the launch of Always Raining Here! we had a lovely time and it was the perfect way to celebrate all the hard work we put into the new book 🩵

We held the party in a cafe which was the perfect vibe for ARH! we had always raining here cupsleeves, and Mariokart wii (essential ofc)!!
