I was at an office and the clerks were so rude to this lady who is completely deaf. They then confused the two of us, despite being different names/sizes/races/etc., and gave her my paperwork. She started leaving and their solution was to yell at the deaf person...I stopped her and did my best to help, but my ASL is rusty AF. I googled how to tell her I was sorry and have since renewed my effort to learn more ASL. No one deserves that treatment and she seemed happy someone cared enough to try.

Hopefully, this helps with the humane world issue a bit. I'm verrry poor, but the other day it was -35°c and I saw this little old lady (who's ALWAYS out looking for cans and has to be 80+yrs old) going through the trash, eating/drinking old Timmie's, and collecting for scrap. Instead of taking my only $10 to get much needed groceries, like I was on the way to do, I asked if she would mind taking it and getting a warm meal. She was so grateful and at the end of the day, her need was greater.
