If Suletta gets shot down in Super Robot Wars, does Miorine have to marry the ace pilot/wulgaru grunt/kaiju that did her in?
That's an interesting premise for a crackfic.

Was looking to try and get back into contact with the person I only knew as the player of Faruja Senra at Final Kingdom MUSH. May be still playing at Radiant Heart MUSH right now? Wanted to chat after a few years have passed since we last saw one another.
Calliope x Kiara art by amlichan
i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.
there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.
anyway, here's some of my favorite browser-based interactive projects and games, if you're into that kind of thing. 90% of them are on the lists that i linked above.
A Better World - create an alternate history timeline
Alter Ego - abandonware birth-to-death life simulator game
Seedship - text-based game about colonizing a new planet

Miniconomy - player driven economy game
Checkbox Olympics - games involving clicking checkboxes
BrantSteele.net - game show and Hunger Games simulators
Murder Games - fight to the death simulator by Orteil
Cookie Clicker - different but felt weird not including it. by Orteil.
if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.
since this post blew up, i've been wanting to do an addition with all of the recommendations from the comments and tags. but there's a lot of them. some people might be crazy enough to sit down and seriously put them all in one post with descriptions. those people are honestly sick in the head.
anyway, here's all of the recommendations from the reblogs. not all of them are text-based, but it's a great mixture of styles. also don't forget the links in the second paragraph of the OP which will take you to FMHY where there are a bunch more games listed.

#fun fact: i shipped nagihono 6 minutes into episode 1
same LMAODJKFGHVJ
The play goes severely off-script thanks to the bad guys attacking, and the audience is aware that it is entirely incoherent as a story but enjoys it anyway because the βendingβ is just Honoka and Nagisa unleashing the full force of their romantic chemistry onstage, which is always compelling even when it makes no damn sense.
Whenever someone tells me that Iβm looking too deeply into the relationships between characters in this series, I bring up this exact scene. Romantic two girl friendship? Hell nah.
These two are blatant, full-blown LESBIANS and their romance is so awe-inspiring that it led to a large number of their successors following in their amazingly gay footsteps. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

"CAPTAIN"
BUY ME MILO KO-FI?
So you loved Kira Kira Precure a la Mode, and/or some of the other seasons of the past 10 or so years. So you go to watch the season that started it all, and its probably not what your expecting. And there's a good chance you don't like it. That's fair. The two could not be more different. Now, Kira Kira Precure A la Mode is not a bad magical girl anime. Not by any stretch of the imagination. It has charming characters and creative battles. But is it a good Precure show? It is Futari wa Precure's antithesis. At least as much of an antithesis as it can possibly be while still being a show targeted towards young girls. Kira Kira Precure A La Mode is a colorful show, with 6-8 larger than life characters as they battle against hatred. They fight in confection themed outfits while wearing heels and being unabashedly cutesy. It's main protagonist always saving the day with an energetic "Whip Step Jump" or a "Bright Idea". To be fair, many modern Precure series are more similar to Kira Kira. Girls who are role models. Girls who chase after their dreams with everything they have. Who even without being Precure live extraordinary lives. There is only one Whip, there are many like her. There is no Cure like Black.
Now excuse me while I get really emotional and overdramatic about Futari wa Precure.
he figured it out before they figured it out
Consider this:
At age 13, Nagisa made a wish upon a star. She asked for many things, but none of them really mattered in the end. Truthfully, looking back, Nagisa just wanted to be happy.
Later that night, in her dreams, she woke in a destroyed landscape. Jagged rocks and chains surrounded her as a dark, foggy sky was all she could really see. The wind was dead, as dust spurned with every step she took. Walking, lost and scared, she was met with a Looming Figure of pure Darkness.
He introduced himself as the "Dark King." He said he had brought her here to save the balance of the universe. He was calling upon her to fight an entity known as the Queen of Light who wished to bring about the end of humanity as she has deemed them "evil." He asked her to find Seven Stones, known as the Prism Stones, trapped in the earth. He promised her that with these stones, they could restore the balance.
They could save the world.
Nagisa thought that was a weird freaking dream, but then things started to happen. Monster Attacks (what the flip are "Zakenna" ????), Fractures in reality, disasters, and everything that could only point to the end of the world. And then she got really sick powers she could use to try and stop everything, to try and find these stones or whatever (how is she even supposed to find them???).
Cure White doesn't help. Apparently, She's a cold, calculating warrior working for the Queen of light. Nagisa has tried so many times to reason with her but nothing has worked. She always just stares at her with that cold, hateful look in her eyes. Every time Nagisa tried to talk to her, it was either silence or harsh words. What even made her like this? What made her want to support something so horrible? Nagisa can't understand her.
The world is where her friends are. Nagisa can't give up on it. It's where her Mom is, her Dad, Ryouta, Shiho, Rina, and even Honoka.
Honoka becoming her friend was not something she saw coming, but the girl was always so sweet, even when Nagisa was too stressed out of her mind to be a good friend. Honestly, Nagisa might even say that the only reason she's made it so far is because of this girl.
So, Nagisa cannot lose. She will stop the Queen of Light. She will stop Cure White.
----
At age 12, Honoka made a wish upon a star. She asked for someone, one person, who would stay in her life. Honoka had been abandoned over and over again. All she wanted was a friend. Someone who would make her happy.
Later that night, in her dreams, she woke to a wonderful garden. Blooms of every size, light fractals surrounding her in a way that seemed to be possible only in theory, wind blowing lightly as the sun shone down on her. Well, upon closer look, the Sun was more Human than Usual.
The being of Light before her introduced herself as the "Queen of Light." She told Honoka that she needed her to fight the forces of Entropy, The "Dark King," to stop the forces that work to destroy the balance of the universe. She said Honoka needed to find 7 stones, known as the Prism stones, to ensure that Balance would be restored.
When Honoka woke up, she had assumed it was simply a fluke, her mind playing tricks on her. Although dreams may have reasons, this one was less abstract and more directly prophetic about the supernatural, which made little sense to her.
And then the world started to end. Things fell apart, fact was little more than a suggestion, and even monsters appeared. Though, given she received the power to fight back, not all was lost. In fact, she gained quite a bit. There was so much more to learn, and so many opportunities to try.
She even had her wish come true. Honoka cannot imagine a world without Nagisa in it anymore. That girl has brought so much to her limited horizons. Honestly, Honoka would say the main thing keeping her going was Nagisa.
And that's why she could never fall for Cure Black's tricks. The Queen of light had warned her about the girl, the way she lies and guilt trips you. She blames you for her sins, and cries that Honoka is truly evil. If it is evil to love her world, to love her friends, to love Nagisa, then evil she shall be. Honoka can't understand why Cure Black cannot see the beauty of this world, why she fights and lies so much. Part of Honoka wishes she could understand the girl, but it would do nothing but make her angry.
She doesn't need to understand Cure Black to know she has to stop her. Has to stop the Dark King. Honoka will protect her world. Honoka will protect her love.
----
Humanity is a plague that does not know it's place.
The Queen of Light and the Dark King are simply two sides of the same coin.
They do what they must to keep the balance of our world.
If they must end Humanity, then they must.
But, if they wish to end humanity, the must get rid of it's shield and sword.
They must get rid of the source of it's power.
Killing two birds with one stone is a silly and cruel phase their kind had come up with. The King and Queen decided to make them kill each other instead.
---
AKA Enemies to Lovers Nagihono in the sense that the Queen of Light and the Dark King were working together the entire time, and they were being played like freaking fiddles to almost bring about the end of the world.

kyosaya au where kyoko is a noble but tomboyish highborn lady and sayaka is a knight who takes her job extremely seriously
My favourite thing about NagiHono is that they didn't immediately "click". They were complete strangers, from completely different backgrounds and social circles, put into A Situation together by complete chance. For the first 7 episodes they're in this weird "Work Colleague" limbo where Nagisa tentatively looks for something they have in common, while Honoka desperately tries to make this friendship happen because she's just that starved for connection.
This fickle dynamic implodes in episode 8, when Honoka crosses a boundary out of a desire to be useful and Nagisa, furious, yells that they're not actually friends (and then immediately regrets it and runs away in shame). They spend the episode feeling awful about the fight because they both tried so hard to make things work. And of course everything works out in the end, but only because at the end of the episode they talk things out-- Well, it's because their things get mixed up in the middle of a fight against Gekidrago and they accidentally grab and read each other's journals, but the important part is that they communicate. And they apologise to each other, and they become friends. Genuinely, this time.
They're really different. This is a friendship that requires a lot of effort by both parties, and what makes it so wonderful is that they both know that and are willing to put in the effort to make it happen, and it takes time but it gets easier, slowly, and they get stronger together because of that. And that's how the show earns that one scene in episode 40 where Nagisa promises to be by Honoka's side no matter what the future holds for them (notably the first episode where they manage to defeat Belzei with a simple Marble Screw, as opposed to needing the powered up Rainbow Storm).
Anyway watch Futari Wa
