This is a huge thing in birds where males get the vast majority of the attention since they often have more visually striking plumage. I personally think the female red-winged blackbird is the most commonly misidentified bird in North America because of this problem.

A side effect of this phenomenon is that a lot of the time bird art depicts only males, so I LOVE when I get to see belted kingfisher art and be like omg it’s her!!!

Yes I do HC that 🥰 especially because of the whole canon “I love you, Henry!” “What about me?” “You most of all, my sweet Adder” (or whatever they say I instantly started shipping them right then) I like the idea of Adder returning Janoshs verbal affections when he gets drunk enough in a way he doesn’t when sober. I also think that Janosh (since he’s the one who’s always saying cute shit) REALLY can’t help himself when he’s got some drink in him (I think when they’re sober he teases Adder a little bit, says stuff like “You not good enough husband for me”, but when he’s drunk he’s like “Ok teehee I’ll marry you ☺️🥹”)

I also HC Adder as being very susceptible to flattery. It works 100% of the time

I want Adder to be absolutely covered in tattoos (I got some suggestions which I need to incorporate into a drawing at some point) and Janosh… Janosh my beloved. He deserves to sip margaritas on the beach.

Some random MAU headcanons for you I’ve been kicking around:

1. Adder goes to music festivals and raves a lot and trades Kandi (this is in some of my drawings I THINK??)

2. Janosh can sing/play guitar a bit (he makes up silly songs to get a laugh)

3. They adopted a cat they found in an alleyway and oh my god… they were roommates (what’s the cats name? It’s gotta be dumb and orange)

What do you guys think their lockscreen/home screen pics are? I feel like Adder gives some kinda model/celebrity/athlete energy.

bollock daggers — what are they?

i wanted to cover one of the commonly seen items in KCD2 because they're just as silly as you'd think—the bollocks dagger! one of the longest trending fashion statements in recent history, the bollocks daggers were in use from 12-13th century until 17-18th century. the name comes exactly from what you're thinking—the carefully carved bollocks (aka testicles) above the guard. this dagger's handle emerged likely among commoners first before entering the sphere of nobility. it was intentionally phallic, because people thought it to be funny. that's pretty much it.

kubyenka's bollock dagger—mounted unusually high up. cock shame? bollock daggers were more utilitarian rather than knightly—they weren’t really made for combat the way a rondel dagger was. warriors usually preferred their swords and rondels. this was more of a commoner’s tool, something practical, a bit of a status marker, but mostly just part of everyday wear.

bollock daggers were most commonly threaded through the gap in the pouch on your belt. they were also often set in front of one's own crotch for reasons you're likely once again thinking—yes, it was supposed to look like your cock.

there are some unlikely theories that say that bollock daggers were shaped like that because knights used them to stab the vulnerable and unprotected areas between the armour gaps on one's groin, but this is likely sensationalist and unlikely, because like i mentioned before, these weren't really combat daggers.
