i recently watched this miniseries btw. a bit of a curio since michael's all very well but also very butch and to me doesn't entirely convey the extravagances of wilde in his full regale but as wilde de profundis he's utterly heartbreaking. bosie guy isn't quite as good and somewhat unconvincing in his mercurial qualities. but i think this adaptation is a perfect descendant to the trials of oscar wilde 1960 in its determined exposure of the tragedy of the whole affair.. the remarkably frank portrayal of queerness. although i'm not sure that in addition to telling the story it manages to comment on anything but idc it's rather good!
