Curses
My main character has the worst curse: 'Do The Right Thing'. It’s a magical affliction that causes her agonising physical pain if she refuses to help someone in need. She's a goblin assassin. She is miserable.
If you were writing or playing a chaotic fantasy character, what’s the worst (or funniest) curse you could dump on ‘em?
Portal Goblin Volume 1 is out now. Paperbacks available from the Great British Bookshop, and eBooks are available on Ko-Fi and itch! Find out more here:

Writers, what's the hardest part of finishing a manuscript?
✍️ Starting? 📖 Pacing? 💔 Killing your favorite scene? 🔍 Editing?
I'm curious because every author seems to have a different answer.

I still think of you sometimes, but it's not obsessively like before.
I think of you tenderly, for it took too long for me to piece my heart back together —
like a puzzle not missing one piece, but a puzzle that's always changing its pieces.
Many nights, I tired myself out trying desperately to forget you, but I never could.
And it's okay. I am at peace now.
True love leaves you more broken, I've learned,
not with pieces missing, but with pieces that keep breaking.

Your chapter isn't boring. It's just paced wrong.
That's the difference between a reader quitting on page 3 and staying up till 2am.
I fix that. DMs open. 📖

Temporal Setting
I went looking for author subjects and found this on the three layers of setting. I always enjoy world-building, so I wanted to look into this. Now, I think most authors do this without meaning to, but it’s good to see the pieces. So, let’s start with: Temporal Setting This is exactly what it sounds like. Not the physical setting, but everything dealing with the time. This can…

It doesn't matter if you wrote 5,000 or 50 words today.
It doesn't matter if all you did was day-dream about your characters while staring at the ceiling.
You are still a writer and your progress is valid.
INTRODUCING: WHAT THE LABEL SAYS
Some people drink coffee.
Some people own a mug that says COFFEE, fill it with peppermint tea, and insist this is perfectly reasonable.
(She would argue the mug is a state of mind.)
I'm finally posting my first fanfic after letting it live in my notes for far too long.
Fandom: Criminal Minds Pairing: Spencer Reid / Original Female Character Genre: Slow burn • Case fic • Medical realism • Found family • Pediatric ward
Expect:
color-coded pens
dinosaur facts that become emotional metaphors
FBI agents learning to slow down
pediatric nurses who notice everything
children who deserve better
tea served in coffee mugs
Current obsession: whether being armored is the same thing as being safe.

Hey Bimbo
Stick your tongue out, make a stupid face, show the men in your life that you are a braindead fuckdoll for them to use
Ladies and gentlefolk, yesterday I finished the first and hopefully only massive round of edits for the last book in The Black Throne trilogy, Let the Darkness Burn. I say massive for two reasons.
1. It took 2.5 months to get through the edits, which is not my usual turnaround for a single round
2. I added 40k words to the manuscript and met my goal wordcount. I wanted LtDB to be right in between the prior books, so it's sitting at 170k.
As I hop into the next round of edits, I'll be doing a few things at the same time. I would like to start collecting arc readers and continue revamping books one and two. My goal is, by the time I'm done editing, the prior books will also be done and I can send everything out to arc readers. What's my timeliness, you may be wondering? As quickly (and efficiently, obviously) as I can get it done.
