On a small trail through the deciduing forest, the setting sun shifts colors. Collecting small pockets of color fusing light, shapes of contrast that brighten and sway in the wind. The sound of effortless brushing up against. Have we been here before? The trial to the bluff base is a familiar breeze. Pink and purple, the clouds are purple the water is purpl, the island is purple.its big, they call it chambers island I think. We got to see the golden levees of the trees with th sunset behind them. Pink light on golden leaves, resurrection trail... or is it. A loop?

Major quake in New Zealand
This image was shared by the Civil Defense/Emergency response unit for part of New Zealand, which suffered a major earthquake. This used to be state highway 1; debris from the mountain was shaken loose during the quake that struck on Sunday. The blockage on this road, amongst other damage, has made it difficult to move from city to city even as emergency response agencies fan out across the country. However, given the location of yesterday’s earthquake, the damage was extensive and was felt across the country.

Headlands of San Francisco Bay. Walked high above the fort, to see the cloudless breeze move shades of grass.
Find a reason to get outside this weekend. Anyone have plans?

Remembering this, finding a reason to get outside, is so important in our day to day. Make your day engage with nature, and at times you will find yourself.

Over the mountains of New Zealand, we leave this southern island in saddening truth, that we don’t really want to leave.Â

Morning rays in Washington. I love where I live.
The mist that rises through the trees, departs us as it slips into sky. I love feeling connected to the trees highest leaves, through the mist, fog and rain, the water in me, the water in the air, and the water in the trees are all entwined. -laurus myth
Transplanted
Recording her voice, tones and attitude seems like a good attempt at preserving my memory of her. Being in good health still, I am not worried about loosing her yet, but I would like to return to the short car ride conversations, her broken English accent and desire to share what she knows about life, and what she hears on the news. Trying to unlock her memory of the past is a struggle. What she went through, I have only heard in brief statements, but her anger towards the situation is real. At a young age, Soo-Jing Chin (Sue), and her brother, were sent by their parents to China, to live with their grandparents. Her mother and father never came back for them. Maybe at the time, Thailand was difficult to live in, also to raise children, but the fact that burdened her most, was that they didn’t come back for them. While Sue and her brother lived in a poor rural town, with no farm or way to make money by their grandparents, she had to drop out of school at a young age to start working. Many gaps of this experience are not told to me. Rumor has it that maybe my uncle knows more, but I think that so many traumas have an effect on the ability to remember. The most horrifying experience she spoke of was when the broken family had to hide in the basement to evade samurai. Since then, Sue continued to have a distasteful opinion of the Japanese.
I have been getting these short bursts of information from her over the last few years. Sometimes its too much for her to talk about, and other times, she doesn’t even realize that I am enjoying her history. The values and quality of life has changed so much even over two generations, I am so grateful that we can at least connect over a few amazing things.
