She was one of the greatest goddesses in the mythology of ancient Egypt. First sister after Osiris wife and mother of Horus. As a goddess of life and magic, she protected women, children, and cured the sick. It was first mentioned in the Ancient Kingdom (c. 2686-2181 BC) as one of the main characters in the Osiris myth and is closely linked to the pharaoh´s throne of ancient Egypt.

Although it is called The Vestal Virgins, this painting by Louis Hector Leroux describes a scene from the cult of Isis in his temple in Pompeii, as we can see beautiful sacred ibis and by the women playing the sistrum, used in the cult of Isis
