I obviously know what it means, but my instinct is that the expression “the mid 2000s” means roughly the period between 2045-2065. Like, in my mind my parents were born in the mid 1900s. I was born in the late 1900s - in nineteen hundred and ninety-two. We are still in the earlyish 2000s. I don’t know why I think this. It’s a fun way my brain has decided to be wrong about things I guess.
