And then there are musicals like Once On This Island and Ride The Cyclone that embrace the role of inevitability in their stories and find joy anyway.

And then on the exact opposite side of the spectrum there’s the radical freedom from the narrative that’s seen in Into The Woods. The narrator is dead and now the story is no one’s but the characters. And there’s the lack of protection that comes with that, the chaos and confusion. But it’s theirs and it’s tragic but they make the best with it.

Penelope's anger was great, her anger at the lack of recognition of her rule bc she was a woman

But one more this, i know ody is a bit dif but i lile this version too, his shame and guilt making him not want tk go, but not for his trickery against the gods but the trickery against man, how he broke the sacred rule of zues which inspired people to go further and knowing kill and disrespect a god(it was a stayue but the that scene again omg omg)

Also i kimda liked the impliedness of t he gods and the attempts at understanding human nature even theough more supernatural characters like athena when she questions his guilt about those lost, why hwr takes the blame instead of putting it om the gods

He’s just dropped out of college and the syndicate scouts him for demon hunters since he somehow managed to defeat Tommy (rascally imp they just can’t seem to get rid of permanently) armed with half a bagel three hours of sleep and a chatter mouth of endless quips. More than that he somehow got Tommy to chill out and stop??? Trying to eat people???? By hooking the imp on some sort of magic potion called monster enemy drink (uh sure kid it’s made with the souls of real monsters (corporate overlords))

but anyway i saw this post talking about how goose's account was probably termed bc it doesn't have the string of digits after the username, which as some people pointed out in reblogs isn't necessarily true, as the numbers only show up after 30 days, meaning she could have deactivated herself. (im very new to tumblr so im not totally sure if either report is accurate, just bringing it up for full transparency). anyway the post's speculation is valid, but the last two paragraphs caught my eye:

i would implore people to please not harass this blog, i just found it kind of interesting. there is absolutely a proven history of transphobia on tumblr staff's part so i'm not against speculating that she was termed on account of her transness (though as pointed out earlier, she could have just deactivated herself). i just doubt it was as the result of a harassment campaign, especially on the part of the tadc crit community.

as someone who gives a cursory glance through the crit tag every so often and maybe made like one or two posts myself, i have seen very little, if any outright ill will wished towards goose. i read a bunch of posts, especially when the last act first came out (first the leaks, then theatre release) and 95% of them seemed to just be good faith critique of both the show itself and goose's genuinely problematic and harmful actions. the closest thing to 'harassment' i've seen regularly is people questioning whether she should have such a big platform, which is a valid question to ask about like, most internet personalities.

granted, every community has toxic parts, and i definitely have seen some posts i'm not happy about. i just wonder if A) there really was any sort of substantial harassment campaign, and B) if it's on the part of the tadc crit tag. i highly doubt it's B just from how much i've read of yall's posts, but granted i'm not tuned in enough to the genuinely toxic side of the fandom to say for sure whether there is or isn't a tumblr-specific harassment campaign at all.

goose doesn't deserve any sort of outright harassment from anybody. consequences for actions, i think would be appropriate, but if there really is a huge harassment campaign i'm not aware of, i'm sorry for goose that she has to endure it. that being said, blindly attacking the crit community for allegedly bullying their favorite creator off the platform is not appropriate. especially when the stance seems to be that crit blogs 'weaponized staff's transmisogyny' because 'the show didn't end the way they wanted it to.' honestly, i don't think the op even looked at the crit tag outside of maybe a few cherrypicked posts lol.

yes, a lot of fans are upset the show didn't end well. but there's tons of valid points to make about goose's past behavior, jokes, racism, people she associates with, design/casting/plot choices, and many more. i'd even argue a good amount of tadc crit people, myself included, really love what the show could have been. in many cases, we criticize because we care, because we love the media we consume, and want to push it to be better.

i don't really know why i'm making this post or if it'll do any good. i guess i just want people to reconsider the reasons why goose's blog might not exist anymore before they go around lighting fires and grabbing pitchforks to attack a critical community. we don't even know for sure if she was termed or if she deactivated yet. and even if she was termed, i think staff's transmisogyny is a much more tangible and real thing that can be questioned instead of the tadc crit community's integrity. this isn't to say that crit blogs had no effect whatsoever; just because i haven't seen a lot of bad faith criticism doesn't mean it doesn't exist. goose could have been wounded by the critique and deactivated. lots of things could have happened that include the fandom, and yes, critical blogs.

that being said, mindlessly calling attack on crit blogs and saying none of them can be trusted, accusing them of infantile behavior like calling transphobic mods on a lady they don't like for making a kind of sucky tv show, is treating them no better than you believe they treated your fave. i don't want to act like 'this is why no one likes tadc fans' or anything, but i really think fandom collectively has a general problem of reaching for their gun before they get a clear view of the scene. we don't have all the information, and even with what we do have, more research can be done before calling for the attack of an entire community.

anyway, i dunno why i said all this. just felt like rambling i guess. i really hope no one reads this as accusatory or inflammatory, i don't intend it to cause conflict at all. i just want everyone to take a step back before we start sending hate and harassment at each other. crit fans and non-crit fans are two sides of the same coin, a community who cares a lot about a show that made a lot of people really happy. let's move forward maturely instead of causing even more infighting than the fandom already has.
