I’m seeing Paul McCartney tonight in Milwaukee. I feel like I’m going to get to see my imaginary friend. Through some bit of magic, he’ll come to life and I'll see him and he'll see me and I'll know he's real. I'll be with him for a few hours and after that he'll be gone. Maybe forever. But I still get to keep the memories, the love and the life he introduced me to...

I’m not going to try to explain what The Beatles meant to me growing up. It would be obscene to try to put it into words. And even if I did, you wouldn’t understand. Everyone has a different connection with music that nobody else can feel. That's why it's so special. That's what I believe, anyhow.

This day is more than 10 years in the making, so I guess I had to say something. Here it is: I wouldn't be the same person I am today without The Beatles, if I was even still around at all. They were my friends when I had none and my guidance when I needed it most. They convinced me how powerful love could be, and warned me how it could hurt so extraordinarily badly.

Mostly though, they make me happy like nothing else can. I hope everybody can find this kind of inspiration and beauty somewhere in their lives.

Thanks for everything, Paul. I'll see you tonight.
