Vincent learned one day that his mother was soon going to be moved into a full-time care facility. She’d lived a long life, it happens.

He knew he shouldn’t. William said he would be better off just letting life move on. The Department would punish him severely if they found out. Hell, even Sam would probably warn him against it. But he wants to see her, one last time, while he still has a chance.

And Lovely wants what he wants.

So they’d packed some clothes for a trip and flown out to New Mexico on weekend, neglecting to tell anyone where or why they were going.

He’d vaguely followed her life on the few things she’d post on social media. Birthdays. Weddings. Lunches out with the women from the support group. She’d gotten frailer as the years pressed on. She cut her hair that she was always so proud of, to keep it manageable when her fingers stopped cooperating. She could have retired early with the settlement money, but she loved her work. And when she did retire, she volunteered. Charity shops, schools, youth groups. She’d lived a good life.

It wasn’t hard to find her place. She’d moved since his ‘death’, but not far. Just to downsize, out of the house that was too big for just her now.

Getting in wasn’t hard. He’d picked up lots of skills and tricks over the years. Lovely knew that all too well.

Her nightly routine hadn’t changed. Not from when he was two, to when he was twenty. And not now either.

He hated that he had to trance her as soon as she stirred awake. But he kept her calm. Helped her put on her favourite dressing gown and slippers, that he’d grabbed beforehand. Lovely was already in the kitchen, making them some tea. He led his mother to the living room, and then released most of the trance.

She started crying almost immediately. He did too. Frail and fragile as she was, she stood up on her own, and held her arms out to him.

And for the first time in years, Vincent wasn’t Vincent Solaire. He was his mother’s little boy, her Vinny. Her Trouble with a capital V. He held his mother, all too aware of his unnatural strength and her natural lack of.

Lovely left them to it for the most part. Brought the tea through and sat nearby, letting mother and son bring each other peace.

Vincent told her the things she needed to hear. As much of the truth as he could. That it had been hard at first, but now he was happy. He still missed her dearly, but he wasn’t in pain. He was at peace, and he was proud of her. He was honoured to call her his mother, and humbled to be her son.

She told him things too. Things he already knew, but he let her tell him anyways. She’d fought to find him and get justice for him. She’d never let a day go by where she didn’t think of him. She’d lived a full life, and found solace in other mothers who’d lost children to death and disappearance. Things he didn’t know too, because she’d never felt the need to tell the world. She’d pushed for stricter safety regulations. She’d joined a volunteer group to find other missing people. Over a hundred people she’d helped find. A hundred parents she’d made sure wouldn’t have to go through what she always had.

All too soon, the sun was due to rise. Vincent didn’t want to go, knowing it would be the last time he could see her. But he knew he had to. He told her as much. She was upset too, but she seemed at peace with that fact. That he couldn’t come back forever.

But he made sure to tell her how much he loved her. He’d been so excited about visiting WonderWorld that he had forgotten to shout it as he left. He’d always regretted that. But now, he could say goodbye.

And she promised she loved him too. And that even if their time together was short, she never regretted having him. She wouldn’t have traded a little life with him for the world.

He tranced her once again, letting her thoughts fade into a numb buzz. He led her back to her bedroom, and let her lie exactly as she had been.

When she woke up, she’d feel more rested than she had in a long time. She’d remember the dream she had of her son in vivid detail for the rest of her life. She wouldn’t remember the features of the figure with him, bringing them tea and sitting next to her son, beyond the happiness they brought him. She’d not remember his silver eyes or his sharpened teeth or his deathly pale skin. She’d remember him as he had been in life, and remember everything he told her.

So idea from Halloween last year was to draw them as Cupid instead of sailor moon but neva did so hear me areee !! :3
