I really think there should be an even longer, extended edition of the Les Miserables musical that covers more of the book. More about Jean Valjean’s incredible strength. More Bishop of Digne. More of Marius’ backstory. More about the Thernadiers, about their kids, about how Madame abuses Cosette. More individuality of Les Amis, to the point where you can identify all of them. Longer barricade scenes where Grantaire sleeps through the first half of the battle and they all die the way they do in the book (Jehan being taken captive, etc).
