This Looks Nice - Gear

Can't speak highly enough of these drives. I use them mostly for delivery of files, but they're also great for budget capture drives, and I've even edited off of them on occasion. Not a great recommendation for heavy lifting, but they're the best around at this price range.

I use these mostly for delivering DCPs because they're lightweight, ship cheap, and are built like, well, Titanium. The price is also fantastic for the size and build quality.

Fill up the gas on your Brother HL-2270DW Compact Laser Printer. Gotta go high yield. Who wants regular yield?!

Hands down the best capture drive for video. I've used with RED, Canon C300, Canon 7D, Black Magic Cinema Camera, and more. I'd upgrade to a Thunderbolt version if I had the appropriate accompanying hardware/ports, but these Firewire 800 drives have been treating me right for years (*knock knock*).

Solid laser printer. Duplex. Light enough to shove in a bin and take to set. Looks pretty in the office, too.

I find reasons to use these all over the place. Whether it's securing gear in transit or tying my bag down on my bike, these guys--cheap as they are--have yet to let me down.

I absolutely did not expect these to work for me, given their cheapness. I needed 100% blackout to create a space for post-production coloring work, and I had a lot of light coming in a couple windows. Amazingly, they block out all the light. Completely. I've since moved them to another office and am equally pleased. I can't speak to their thermal insulation qualities because I haven't used them for that purpose, but I can imagine they help a little bit.

I try to do as much coloring work as I can. I wanted to have some peace of mind that my medium-budget setup would be as professional and standardized as possible. I've used the i1Display Pro on several projects, road tested the final products in major theaters (AMC, Music Box Chicago, Siskel Film Center, BAM), and continue to be very pleased with the results.

Even though iPhone takes a pretty solid photo (and can be enhanced with handy apps like JotNot Pro!), this guy is essential to have on set when there are mounds of paperwork to digitize. Big enough to be a workhorse, small enough to shove in the bag. Takes up so little desk/table/floor space too!
