I'm going through all the pissy notes because they are honestly hilarious, but I just wanted to address this because it seems like a lot of stucky fans thinks the ofmd fandom are a bunch of 12 year olds who've never shipped another couple in their lives.

Ready for Ed and Stede to have a tentative truce and maybe they're flirty again and Stede gets overly confident in the state of things, and one day they're talking about their next raid and Stede smacks Ed's ass and says "this is the only kind of booty I'M interested in!" And everyone, crew, seagulls, and bunnies all just turn to look at him in wide-eyed horror/secondhand embarrassment while Stede just stands there, preening, oblivious.

This might be my next unpopular opinion, but I'm actually relieved to read that Season Three would be the final season of OFMD. It means that the story will be told, and not left to linger. I respect the hell out of that. Too many shows go on, and on, and on... Sure, we'd love to think that our favorites will keep going. But I would rather a good series be wrapped-up properly, than to carry on needlessly.

Stucky absolutely had a huge impact on fandom history, I was deeply entrenched in the MCU back then too, and no hate to it (except for the people that were weird about Sam & Sharon they can f*ck off) but I think ppl that aren't in OFMD fandom maybe aren't aware of how it exploded? How many fics were written within days & weeks of the show & haven't slowed down, how much art has been made, the way SMAUs have become popularized as a whole different genre of fanwork, how many people have come out or felt affirmed in their queerness b/c of it, the meetups/cons, the # of intricate handmade cosplays, the way it revitalized so many people who had not been part of a fandom in years! Like part of the impact of Stede/Ed was *because* of the queerbaiting that had come before we're not ignorant of that, I think that's why it felt so validating. For me it felt like turning the page of that Secret Avengers comic (that we were later told Coulson was supposed to be bi in but got shot down) and seeing Phil & Nick kiss instead of getting "I love you bro, you're handsome" but no follow through. It's not a matter of canon vs non canon but it was healing to see for a lot of people & that's part of why it was impactful on fandom.
