Defining your sexuality as uniquely âbeing attracted to PERSONALITYâ is just so condescending and revealing. Like how poorly do you regard your LGBT siblings to cast our experiences in such an ugly superficial light
in my lesbian opinion i think we should, like, collectively take the word âtwinkâ away from people who arenât actually mlmÂ
Alternatively we should call people who arenât twinks and wouldnât normally be called a twink âtwinkâ just to confuse them and throw them off
We tried that with you and apparently it makes you flustered
Yeah but Iâm like almost the classic definition of a-
Wait a minute you almost made me admit to being a-
Wait Iâm not
Isnât a twink just a femboy with a few steps missing?
yup also has to be a bottom
please interact with even just One real life gay man god bless
âŚâŚ. i? do?
then it clearly ainât showing.
i? literally? identify? as? a? gay man? sometimes? wtf?
âa twink is a femboy and must be a bottomâ
This is how you spot people who have not been in active LGBT spaces irl
âI literally identify as a gay man sometimesâ
THAT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT HOW IT WORKS. YOUâRE EITHER HOMOSEXUAL OR YOUâRE NOT
The fact that these people feel like theyâre some sort of authority on gay topics when they âidentify as gay sometimesâ⌠Iâm losing hope in humanity lol
Fujushis ruin everything
kinda wish transmeds would listen to lesbians when lesbians say that they have a complicated experience with gender instead of always just brushing it off as trenderism or radfem statements. It is something that many lesbians experience and transmeds ignoring lesbians just because their experiences donât neatly fit into their world view does not help anybody.
also kinda wish that the rest of tumblr would understand that just because a lesbian (or any woman) has a complicated relationship with gender or to her female body doesnât mean she suddenly isnât a woman anymore. Feeling kinda weird about oneâs female features isnât a new gender, itâs part of the experience of being a woman for many, many people. Having a complicated relationship with gender and to oneâs female body is different from experiencing gender dysphoria, which is what makes someone the gender not corresponding with their sex. Also wishing to be a man or to have a male body sometimes does not make a woman a man, or any other gender.
looking at this feels like a hate crime

I feel like if people realized sexuality was about WHO you are attracted to and not HOW you express your attraction they wouldnât be ripping apart the bisexual community with new words because some people prefer women 51% of the time and men only 49% or whatever. Iâm begging you to pick up a book on bisexual history and to understand the historical fluidity of the term. Donât care about gender? Youâre bi. Care about gender? Youâre bi. Prefer one gender over the other? Youâre bi. These are personal preferences and donât deserve their own label when they completely go against 50+ years of history.
Congrats on being literally homophobic lmfao. Lesbians are the weakest link.
Imagine thinking it's homophobic to not want you or your community to be called a slur.
Wow, nice homophobia, Anon.Â
This is what I mean when I say that people hate lesbians :)
for an anon declaring that someone is âliterally homophobicâ, theyâre doing quite a lot of literal homophobia themselves lmao.
ive been SAYING this but growing up gay is a traumatic experience in and of itself
like not that anyone asked BUT to expand on this but despite the obvious interactions with homophobia that every gay person is bound to encounter its just likeâŚyour family/even some close friends never ~truly~ know who you are or what youâre interested in because the Gay Experience is about protecting your identity/interests before everything else so by the time you grow up even your parents - no matter how accepting they think they are - have absolutely no inkling about who you really are as a person and thats just a super lonely and exhausting way to exist within a family or a social circle broe!Â
Standards for butchness are also higher for fat people just like standards of femininity are, tbh there's a reason why people are so quick to call ruby fucking rose of all people a butch icon... All this despite the fact that like. Butches are often - more often than not, even - fat. If you can't handle that as part of ur butch positivity or lust for butches (not that I want you to fetishise ppl more than you already do) then what are you even talking about. What butch positivity?
I do truly feel bad for the young people who have been indoctrinated with the idea that âbisexual means two genders only and pansexual means all gendersâ because their entire identities as pansexual people has been built on a cisheteronormative lie that sought, with some success, to paint the bisexual community as bigoted towards trans ppl and exclusive of non-binary/third/mixed gender people.Â
Thereâs a difference between choosing labels because linguistically they describe you more fluently than others, and choosing labels because you have been told that there are material differences between them. There is no material difference between pansexuality and bisexuality. âTwo or more gendersâ⌠extends to âall gendersâ. âGenders like and unlike oneâs ownâ extends to âall gendersâ. There is no real-world, physical difference between the two experiences.
And this notion that bisexual people have ever, as a community, hinged the definition of our sexuality on transphobic standards, ie. âonly cis men and cis womenâ, is biphobic at its root. Itâs not true. It has never been true.
it is important to learn our history beyond what ppl on the internet tell us tbh like if you are a young LGBT kid, you really should take a trip to a library and read some LGBT history books. Google some. anything to get yourself some primary knowledge on what it means to be LGBT.
thanks for coming to my ted talk

be pansexual whatever but stop pretending it isnât the exact same identical thing as bisexual with no differences at all, because there is no way to differentiate them without being biphobic, homophobic, or transphobic. saying âpansexual means all and bisexual means twoâ is transphobic towards non-binary people and homophobic towards non-binary gay people and non-binary lesbians. âpansexual means men, women, and trans peopleâ is transphobic. âpansexual means attraction to hearts/souls/minds/personalities instead of bodies and genders and partsâ is biphobic and homophobic and transphobic and is just neo-sapiosexuality.
call me a big mean lgbt but I think accepting, normalizing, and celebrating the same gender love that's illegal in 70 countries around the world is far more important than stopping gay couples from kissing at pride to make romance repulsed aromantic graysexuals more comfortable
if you ask gay couples to not kiss in GSA meetings or at pride--often some of the only places we feel safe being open with our partners--you are a homophobe and do not belong in lgbt spaces
A lesbian/gay/bi/trans person reading about activists working to dismantle laws the prohibited same-sex relationships and gender nonconformity: wow, these people are the reason I can be me today and I relate to their experiences
A cishet ace/aro reading the same thing: wow, so glad they paved the way so I can call myself queer despite how these laws would have never effected me and I relate to none of their experiences
@thisstudentdreamer: Whether aces and aros are discriminated against is irrelevant. That doesnât change the fact that aces/aros arenât targeted by anti-LGBT laws (unless they arenât cis or het ofc) and that aces/aros havenât been a part of LGBT activism or LGBT history until very, very recently. Even now their participation (as aces/aros, outside of being otherwise trans/nb or lgb) in LGBT life has been more about gaining visibility and recognition than any actual contribution to or similarities with the rest of the community.
@thisstudentdreamer Okay. Iâll bite and address the discrimination aspect.
I actually did a write up about the Russia Driving Ban and how says it targets asexuals is inaccurate. Similarly, ace/aro information being banned in Russia is only because LGBT orgs are often the ones sharing the info and not because aces/aros are being targeted.
Thereâs also issues with the other links. The one about suicide rate is from a survey about trans and gnc people, so isnât reflective of all aces. The one about sexual harassment is from a study that groups asexuals, questioning, and other, so again canât be used to address rates among aces alone. The ones about housing discrimination and dehumanization are from one study, Group X, which only measured attitudes and not actual discrimination that has happened. There is no study showing aces are being denied housing. Which tbh is a no-brainer because how exactly would someone discriminate against an ace person for housing? A potential landlord may be able to see someoneâs disability, race/ethnicity, religious observance, gender nonconformity, same gender partner and discriminate based off those, but how exactly do they see someone as asexual? Plus Group X is also so limited in scope (less than 300 university students surveyed in Canada) it cannot be viewed as reliably showing what aces across the world face. None of these studies even mention aromantics, so none of them can be used to address the discrimination aros face. The studies also use asexual to mean âaroaceâ in all these studies, so they canât be applied to het aces, bi aces, or gay aces either.
All the personal accedotes, while terrible, donât prove anything about aces/aros inherently belonging in the LGBT community. There are just as many people, even cishet allos, who face community and family abuse and censure for engaging it sexual and romantic relationships, particalarly in the case of girls and women.
So TL;DR: none of that actually shows discrimination or oppression or that cishet aces and aros have ever done anything for the LGBT community other than leech off it.
I love online spaces because someone will say "this label has a specific meaning that communicates a specific set of experiences and identity for specific people"
and then someone other will then say "this identity and set of experiences feels familiar but does not entirely resonate with me. but I want to use the label anyway, and since it's more important to be inclusive and valid than it is to continue to have labels that communicate specific experiences I think I would rather just change and dilute that label, and this makes me more woke and open minded than you dykes" bc let's be real this is happening to lesbianism a Lot right now
lesbians: haha weâre kinda oblivious when it comes to girls :-)
half of you: yes you absolutely are. in fact every lesbian alive is a complete idiot with no self-confidence or courage whatsoever. i am the best ally
the other half of you: oh so youâre an incel? is that what iâm hearing? youâre a member of a specifically misogynistic group?

hereâs your reminder that lesbian isnât a dirty word!!! we exist too!!
Iâll never get over the fact that tumblr users pretty much built the siteâs entire reputation around defending trigger warnings to hell and back (and donât get me wrong, trigger warnings are a good thing) but when you tell them youâre triggered by the word q*eer suddenly itâs like âwell actually that makes you a terfy conservative exclusionary bigot so I guess youâll just have to live with that fact as well as your probably made-up trauma sweaty :)â actual fucking demons
people are more willing to tag "tw: lesbians" than they are to tag an Actual Slur
