There is really no solid determining factor to decide whether one is bi or pan.

When one tries to figure out if they’re gay or straight, they try to figure out if they’re attracted to men or women. They try to figure out what their biological attraction is.

There is no biological difference between bi and pan like there is gay and straight—because both bi and pan people are attracted to both sexes. The “I like all genders” argument only applies to those who believe in more than 2 genders. Even if you do believe in more than 2 genders, it is still sex characteristics that people are attracted to.

Plus, and I’ve said this before... “bisexual” means “attracted to both sexes”. Therefore pansexual would mean “attracted to all sexes”. How many sexes are there? Two. Making pan and bi exactly the same at base level.

The “I don’t have a preference” argument is something bisexuals have repeatedly expressed as something bisexuals can experience too. The “I see hearts not parts” argument has been rightfully criticized as something most people can agree with, and not a pansexual exclusive thing.

Every single way to determine if you’re pan or bi, is based on determining whether or not you fall into biphobic stereotypes and misconceptions. Those who fit them are bi, those who don’t are pan.

It’s equivalent to a homosexual man deciding he’s not gay, but something else, simply because he’s not hypersexual and wants to get to know his partners instead of having flings.

Tl;dr:

Pansexuality is not a unique sexuality. There is no way to differentiate it from bisexuality like we can differentiate homosexuality and heterosexuality, because pan and bi are biologically the same. The only difference between the labels is that one is based off of enforcing harmful stereotypes.

Ok but I was just thinking about this because the opposite happens with North Americans? We start singing and sometimes end up sounding British? Probably because we’re taught to sing with open vowels and such, so we end up sounding vaguely British.

So does the opposite happen when Brits learn to sing? Is it like “pronounce the words as they’re written and don’t you dare open those vowels”?

This is a random jokey thought I had that I thought you'd wanna hear (??)-

I was thinking "man it seems like the majority of lesbian/bi women are feminine, where are all the masc/androgynous wlw at?" But then I answered myself-

"... they're convinced that they're actually non-binary, that's Where."

It sounds dumb but it makes sense? Especially now a days, teen girls and young women are being convinced (by eachother) that they're actually non binary or trans for their gender non-conformity ((and their same sex attraction)). I am constantly finding "non-binary lesbians" online, and on tumblr practically every butch or masc wlw based blog has "they/them butch" or "he/him dyke" in its bio :( Does this make sense to you or am I just ranting

No that makes perfect sense, and I agree!

There’s a very clear message online right now that women are feminine, and comfortable with the expectations placed on women. So if you’re masculine or uncomfortable with sexist expectations, you’re obviously not a woman and are some form of nonbinary.

It’s frustrating because we should be removing stereotypes and expectations, not just piling them on with each new thing that supposedly makes one nonbinary instead of a gnc woman (and often it’s not even that gnc because the standards for women are just so strict)

It's interesting how "trans people, you aren't entitled to sex" became a wider discussion topic online. In real life, the sexual boundary disrespecting is more often done by cis people towards trans people, but I really haven't seen that being talked about.

Trans people are seen as a fetish. They're treated like objects to fulfil a desire and not people who want to be themselves.

Both are a problem, but online it’s recently been more common to see people talking about “genital preference” and shaming people (mostly lesbians) for being unable to be attracted to a certain sex. It started as a popular conversation because people started making videos about how you’re transphobic for not being bisexual, and obviously people want to push back against that.

I’d assume that chasers are more of a topic for conversation irl, since that’s where it pops up most. Like dating apps where you have people seeking trans people out not for a relationship but to fulfil a fetish. It doesn’t surprise me that there’s more of a focus on the opposite online though, since it’s currently a more prevalent problem than chasers online.

But still wlw and mlm aren’t dirty words either, and you used them appropriately too, some people just can’t handle the concept of inclusiveness or acknowledging nonbinary people exist is all, so they don’t like seeing those terms used unless they feel it’s 100% ‘necessary.’

They’re certainly less stigmatized than gay and lesbian. I don’t actually give a shit about ~inclusion~ when people typically do everything in their power to avoid the words gay and lesbian. In this case, they should be used. This situation is specifically creepy towards lesbians, not all wlw. IMO it minimizes the impact this attitude towards lesbians has, when we make it about all wlw and not just lesbians. I admit that it’s nitpicky, but I’m really tired of people finding ways around saying gay and lesbian.

(And per your tags about gay men and not lesbian women, I just say that because gay can mean just gay men or all homosexuals, so I’m just specifying who exactly I’m talking about. I don’t need to do that with lesbian because it’s understood that lesbians are women)

DID isn’t just “alter disorder” it comes with a huge amount of severe dissociation (detachment/depersonalization/derealization) on a regular hour to hour basis, c-ptsd (flashbacks, panic attacks, severe anxiety, depression, etc) a warped view of time (or time passing), as well as a loss of time / memory (amnesia), migraines or psychosomatic pain / feelings (pnes can be comorbid), can come with symptoms of psychosis due to severe trauma, can cause catatonic dissociation, etc etc. It’s also not uncommon for systems to have comorbid / other disorders like OCD, BPD, etc. DID isn’t just “having alters” it’s so much fucking more than just that, and I’m sick of people only thinking of the “alters” aspect and not the parts that just as hard, if not sometimes harder, to deal with.
