a woman in a popular piece of media could rightfully call someone a friendless loser for being a friendless loser or be vaguely upset about her romantic feelings not being reciprocated and people would find a way inevitably to paint her as a homophobic arophobic transphobic ableist for saying this but a tumblr popularboy could turn to the screen and go i hate women and minorities and people would go well he didnt mean it it was just due to his smol bean nature
i feel like im a weird age where i got just a blurry glimpse at the world Before. it used to be cold in the mornings and websites had fun games and the search results showed you what you searched for. covid wasn't a thing. can anybody fucking hear me. did i dream it all????
the charming and perfect Tenna intro vs the scary and horrible Flowery intro
one of these big new indie cartoons should release with an exclusive adopt of like the main character. pay up 10000 dollars to be the only one whos legally allowed to draw pomni. i feel like the resulting fandom drama would change the face of the internet it would be so cool

Hey kid, look at me.
I want you to T-pose. Turn your right thumb up and your left thumb doen and look at your right thumb. Move your arms up and down a bit until you feel a nerve running from your armpit to your palm. Now turn your right thumb down and your left thumb up, and look at your left thumb. Keep your chest facing forward and your shoulders back. Move your arms again until you feel that nerve again. Keep alternating between these two for a minute, or look at each thumb thirty times each.
Now sit down. Put your left hand firmly under your left buttock, palm down. Keep your shoulders back and put your right hand over the crown of your head, very gently pulling it to the right. Do this for thirty seconds, then do it again but with your right hand under your right buttock.
These are stretches for the nerves in your arms, and are very good for people who sit behind a computer a lot, or fibre artists, or you name it. Do them daily. They will hurt in the beginning, but keep doing them, even after the pain has gone, or it will return and you'll have to start all over.
life is too fleeting for all this worrying

Hello everyone. Disabled (Mentally and physically) Trans Korean American horror artist/arg dev in need of your eyes and ears:
"please kill me" < bad, asking people to do emotional labor for you
"i'm killing myself" < too self-centered
"i'm killing you" < not thinking big enough
"i'm killing everyone" < radical, innovative

look. i donât think my stretch marks are beautiful. i donât think theyâre tiger stripes or natural tattooos. i donât think my acne is beautiful. i donât think the bags under my eyes are beautiful. i just think theyâre human. and i donât think i have to be beautiful all of the time in order to be accepted and loved and sucessful. i donât think every small detail of my outer appearence needs to be translated into prettiness.
fun fact: this POV is actually called âbody neutralityâ and itâs SO MUCH more accessible/realistic for a lot of people. itâs based on the idea that the way we look is the least interesting/important thing about who we are, and that our bodies are worthy of respect regardless if they fit the mold of the current beauty ideals.
As a Brazilian person, my opinion re: the whole Toby Fox thing is that I understand him wanting to preserve the double entendres and hidden meanings of his gameâs text and only being able to do it to the extent he wants to when it comes to Japanese due to the fact he speaks it to a degree but like. Letâs not kid ourselves here, dude. I KNOW why you learned Japanese: itâs because you wanted to play video games in Japanese and watch untranslated anime. Thatâs why you can make sure your translation is coming across the way you want in Japanese: you understand their memes and pop culture references. The obvious solution to getting your game translated to the degree of precision you want is to find a nerd who learned English because they wanted to play video games in English and watch untranslated cartoons and, as a result, understands American memes and pop culture references. Completely unrelated to the topic at hand, but Iâm currently out of a job and-
My resume: No degree in anything related to translation, has never lived in an English-speaking country, decided theyâd understand English from then on at 13 because they wanted to watch the Fairly OddParents without subtitles and listen to âWeird Alâ Yankovic songs. Fuck with me.
On a more serious note. This has probably been addressed much more eloquently by other people by now but something I feel that has been lost in the confusion is that Latin American UTDR fans didnât bring up the lack of localization of Undertale into any languages other than Japanese out of nowhere. People started talking about it because it was revealed that Undertale orchestra concert world tour would skip South America entirely. The fact that we also have nearly no access to official UTDR goods due to the fact Toby will only work with Fangamer and they charge a small fortune to ship to South America from their US location despite having having European and Japanese branches also contributed quite a bit to the general discontentment around the subject.
Neither of these things, mind you, are unique to Toby Foxâs intellectual properties. This happens a lot, and thatâs why itâs so frustrating! I donât think itâs on purpose at all or born of any sort of malice, but I DO think that the fact their work is appreciated in places other than North America, Europe and Japan sometimes just never crosses the minds of creators born in âfirst worldâ countries. Thereâs a reason why âcome to Brazilâ became a meme, after all. Itâs a comment youâd see a lot in music videos on YouTube and social media accounts of singers and bands because itâs not uncommon for them to just⌠never perform in South America.Â
So itâs not just about the localization thing (as much as I think Toby is overestimating the amount of micromanaging he has to do to make sure his âvisionâ comes across as he wants it to in other languages). Itâs about the message that, even if not intended, Latin American fans of basically anything receive over and over again: youâre not getting any nice things because we kind of, like, forgot you exist? Try being born in a more important country next time.
