just throw the whole damn box away.
think. outside. the box.
this expression used to drive me insane. it’s overused, corny and no one ever actually tells you how to do it. so, as someone who needs to know every-fucking-thing, i decided to ruminate over this for a while.
“how can someone think outside the box?”
“what is the box?”
“am i the box?”
finally, something kinda.. clicked.
i think everyone’s “box” is different. it can be family, friends, where you’re from, your personal beliefs, mindset, fear, etc.
to think outside “the box” means to recognize your limits (you’re only human, right?), but to not be limited by them (because fuck that. dreams don’t build themselves).
when you give yourself permission to think creatively, you’re ultimately empowering yourself to overcome anything (that annoying little voice in the back of your mind, procrastination and laziness, the gaping plot holes in your novel or script.. ugh!!)
basically, what i learned is that how we think can seriously make or break us and that sometimes it’s best to just.. throw the whole damn “box” away.
