Cinematic parallels 2: kisses
Hiatus Headcanons - My First Time!
Okay, headcanon is a new concept for me, but Tinnefoilās post inspired a sudden flash of insight into the āone noteā Mon-El had for Kara about their night oā love (which, heh!): āI would like to wake up next to you.ā
First, I am 100 percent sure this had nothing to do with a feeling of entitlement on his part. Like, zero percent chance. Nada chance. Zilch chanciness.
(Plus, Mon-El was obviously always a cuddler, because he was all snuggled up to that girl in his bed the morning Krypton exploded and rained down its fiery destruction on Daxam.)
But we donāt talk about that!Ā
My headcanon is that Mon-El was always a sweet, caring, likable guy with a big heart. And from the time he was a little boy he craved attention and yearned for love in his life, but got very little of either from his parents.
As he grew older, he turned to drugs and alcohol to dull any kind of real emotions, like loneliness and frustration. He partied and fooled around because it distracted him, made him forget, just for a little while, that even though he was Mon-El, Prince of Daxam, he was virtually powerless to do anything real for his people. Not with his parents in power.
But at the end of the day, underneath it all, he was always that adorable outer space stray puppy who just wanted a family. People to admire. Someone to love.
So when Mon-El told Kara all he wanted was to wake up next to her, I donāt think he said that because he felt somehow entitled to her presence when he woke up. I think he wanted to wake up next to Kara because he was finally - finally! - able to share his big, goofy, beautiful heart with someone who was willing and happy to reciprocate his love.
That romantic bastard!
I think more than anything Mon-El wanted to make Kara happy, and to do that, he had to be the kind of man she deserved. A hero. So he wanted to always be close to her because she inspired him to be the best version of himself.
You Want Proof? You Canāt Handle the Proof!
The best indicator I have that my headcanon has some credibility is that Mon-Elās mother actually confirmed my suspicions.
Yep. Good old evil Rhea let slip a few stories about Mon-Elās childhood that gave us the absolute best insight into the type of person Mon-El had always been, even underneath his infamous āfrat boy of the universeā persona.
Apparently, Mon-Elās ability to love unconditionally, and his need for physical shows of affection, were not a new thing.
In Distant SunĀ (2x17):
Rhea: When you were a child, you used to grab my leg with both arms every time I tried to leave the room. I would have to peel you off of me like some gangly little magnet. And it broke my heart.
And in City of Lost ChildrenĀ (2x20):
Rhea: When you were a boy and I would put you to sleep at night, you used to say to me that you would always love me.
Okay, yes, Rhea was definitely manipulating Mon-El in each of these scenes, but the manipulation wouldnāt be effective if what she was saying wasnāt actually true.
Thatās right, yāall! Mon-El has a heart full of love and he doesnāt care who knows it!
So Mon-Elās romantic nature, as evidenced by the deathbed kiss, the whole āIt was okay that I was going to die because Iād gotten to kiss youā confession, his request to be able to wake up next to her, and the way he was always touching Kara (once they started dating), really should not have come as a surprise to pretty much anyone.
Other Observations About The Type of Man Mon-El Is at His Core
On Daxam
I think as Mon-El grew up he was a known jokester, and the life of every party. I think he was popular with the people of Daxam, especially the ladies. Iād guess one could say he was probably even beloved by his people. Like, I think the palace guard who saved Mon-El genuinely cared about him. Think about it. Daxam was falling apart. Why would his guard bother ensuring the safety and survival of a spoiled, arrogant prince, when he could have saved himself instead? But he gave up his life to save Mon-Elās. āGo! Now!ā he yelled to his Prince as he fought off people trying to get to the pod. He didnāt have to do any of that. But he did.
That kind of loyalty is earned, never forced.
On Earth
I think from the moment Mon-El and Kara shook hands and started fresh, he has been portrayed as a flawed, but genuinely nice and loving person. No one ever even suspected he was the Prince of Daxam, because he certainly didnāt act like he deserved special treatment or like he felt he was better than anyone else. He was just always around - friendly, easygoing Mon-El - in the thick of things, asking questions, jumping into conversations, angling to be included in parties and other outingsā¦
I mean, thereās a reason Kara referred to him as an outer space stray puppy!
I think Mon-El was initially overwhelmed as he tried to navigate the wave of emotions heād never had to deal with before, so he fell back into some of his old habits and turned to alcohol to dull some of the noise. But Kara believing in him, seeing the good in him, and Alex calling him out as a coward and telling him to stand up, were all the push he needed to start down a different path. A path that included club soda on the rocks, sparring sessions, rocky relationships, and love.
A path to a superhero.
I absolutely do think that Mon-El craved love from his mom (thereās imo an entire headcanon/meta there about how imo Mon-El never *perceived* Rhea as abusive prior to her actions on earth and why).Ā
That said, I donāt think that itās necessarily required for a guard to have liked Mon-El personally to die for him. I mean, having guards like that is still pretty frequent in various dictatorships or other oppressive regimes. (note how Rhea says he will be rewarded in the afterlife, add to that the comments about Daxamites being given drugs, I have no problem picturing how that in combination could easily lead to fatalistic loyalty even without personal attachment)
Or course, part of this is mostly my rival headcanon that I tend to headcanon Mon-El as having had troubles forming genuine relationships with people on Daxam (maybe because of his status as a prince) because:Ā
1.) to me that explains why he latched on to Kara and to earth so quickly 2.) makes it more understandable that he chose staying with Kara/staying on earth over returning to Daxam 3.) makes hisĀ āspoiled and uselessā more relateable (if you have people who love you or are your friends genuinely, it just seems to me that your life wouldnāt be as useless)Ā
Mon-El very resoundingly chose earth over Daxam, we never really see any personal friendly interactions between him and any of the Daxamites (for example no personal words of goodbye from the guard), it would be kind of assy if he turns on all of Daxam just to punish them for the system when he personally experienced genuine love/support from them. To me Mon-Elās fatalism in how it is impossible to change things to me makes more sense if heĀ āran into emotional wallsā repeatedly and not just with Rhea.Ā
So I tend to headcanon him as more (emotionally) isolated, like his parents not giving him much affection and maybe no real affection with other people forming because he was mostly surrounded by servants/employees who maybe were exchanged frequently so no long term bonds could form [think of the borderline faceless servants/soldiers/whatever who knelt/bowed in front him and his parents and who stand in the background while they eat, imagine growing up with those type of guards/servants constantly around you]. I do picture him as being liked by the populace but more in a generic, distant āah, our prince is such a stud/such a good Daxamiteā kind of way.Ā
(for the record, the fact that Mon-El didnāt really seem to expect to be served by people all that much/as much as you would expect while growing up the way he did to me does indicate a generally sweet/easygoing nature. Sure he was āundercoverā but he bumbled into plenty of things. To me the tenor seemed to be that he wasnāt used to money/was used to people just giving him stuff without him having to do much for it. But for example, he had no problem adapting to the idea that he had to persuade Winn into doing something for him rather than trying to order him to do it/order people around in general)Ā
@peggystormbornā but all of his interactions with women happened after the bar scene with Winn (were there even women during that bar?). the episode with Eve was after that where, he seemed to be confused why it would be wrong in earth custom for Eve to give him presents/pay for his clothes. and of course he didn't seem down with the earth custom ofĀ āholding down a steady jobā for a while (taking off his second day from work because he wanted to hang with Kara in 9).Ā
To me that bar stuff wasnāt really about earth customs, it was about holding back oneās powers. (and yes itās another one of those weird inconsistencies things that even if Mon-El is supposed to be quite a bit below Karaās powerlevel that Mon-El was slapping humanās on the back or kissing them pretty quickly while kid!Kara had to actively train to not accidentally hurt a cat)

Jonerys Week 2018 ~ Day 2&3: Ā Smut and Fluff
Just wanted to do a romantic āshinyā scene but with some erotics elements so I draw them naked to make it more smutty, Iām too shy for drawing smut sorry I did my best.Ā
Karamel Hiatus Headcanons #1
Iām really bad at headcanon stuff :)Ā
Okay, here is my attempt. Iāve always been fascinated by the firstĀ āWake Up With Meā. Itās just so surprisingly sappy, the first appearance to me as real romantic sappy Mon-El.Ā
Yes there were moments and big confessions and big words before (like both the comet and the kryptonite speeches). Iād even count him grabbing Kara for a dance. Still, a lot of these moments felt surprising or like they had to be forced out of him.Ā
But here, he is so happy and excited and the request comes from him.Ā
So I was wondering about it. Is it just entitlement? (after all this is before his bigĀ ālearn his lessonā episode) Did he expect her to be there? It just doesnāt necessarily seem to fit what the show had been implying about Mon-Elās moreĀ ācome and goā hookups.Ā
Still, we canāt really rule out that maybe on Daxam that was more normal for people to stay the night?Ā
Of course my favorite *shippy* explanation is that not only hasĀ āwaking upā be a theme in Karamel for longer (Kara vowing that sheāll there when he wakes up from his coma, and of course we know that his sentiment is later repeated by Kara and we know sheās not requesting it because sheās used to it), but that itās a reference to episode 8 when he first kissed her. That that is the feeling he is thinking of how he woke up there and she was there and how much he loved that (enough to kiss her) and how he wants that in more peaceful circumstances.Ā
@chassycatā I know some people like to headcanon pre-earth Mon-El as more innocent and shy but I tend to lean with Kara on this one. We have seen him with the girl he left behind while fleeing Daxam and with Eve, we saw Kara mentioning 3 girls while complaining about him being a floozy and being annoyed about the girls who were sending him drinks while he waves back when they got drunk together and there's the reputation of the prince she mentioned before she knew it was Mon-El. There is also the scene where he turns down the girl because he realizes he has fallen for Kara which to me was the show signalling to the audience that he was different in this regard now (we also have his confession to Kara that he has never felt anything remotely like this before, which to me means that he didnāt really have feelings for the people he was with before and again we know the girl from the flashback for sure and he came very close with Eve very fast, imo the evidence is pretty strong that something happened with Eve at some point, we know he interacted with her after Kara broke them up because she gave him his credit card and during the floozy comment Kara mentioned Eve as one of people whose place he might be at ).Ā
Plus a variety of Mon-Elās comment about his past (from spoiled and useless person to him saying that he used to be a misogynist) donāt really make a ton of sense to me if pre-earth/pre-Kara Mon-El was just a misunderstood little choir boy. (plus all the comments from Chris and from the writers from this area all seemed to take his partying as face value, since again the tenor was a guy who wasĀ āstarting out as far away from being a hero as possibleā)
Itās kind of like you see a lot of fanon Mon-El being shy and bookish on Daxam before coming to earth when we know he didnāt read books before coming to earth since he is explicitly surprised by how useful books are.Ā
I get why people are drawn to these characterizations [and not just because people want Mon-El to be innocent, but also because itās kind of weird that if he was promicuous in the past that he jumped into longterm relationship mode with Kara so quickly and of course now has some sort of longterm relationship with Imra; or the scene where he initially worries about his performance when waking up in Karaās bed] , but to me they are not really backed by canon very well/Iād argue they are even somewhat contradicted in places. I would argue that his story relies on the concept of heavy transformation rather thanĀ āKara was wrong about everything, Mon-El actually was just a innocent little flowerchild with an evil mother in his time pre-canonā because that to me is how Mon-El seems to perceive his experience with Kara.
I tend to headcanon btw that he is really intrigued by earth because maybe before he was never completely sure whether people were sleeping with him or complimenting him just because he was the prince and now people are doing it even though they think heās just a lowly bartender.Ā

What the best clois live action content?
my dude, all live action clois is A+
In all seriousness I strongly believe that the 90ā²s tv series, Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman is one of the best portrayals of Clois ever.Ā
For one reason because the show focuses mainlyĀ on their relationship so you get a better feel of the depth of their relationship. Not to spoil anything if you doĀ plan to watch it, you get to see each individual layer of their said relationship from the start where they are literally fighting over headlines, to being friends and eventually what starts to be their relationship.
Yes, the show is cheesy af. Throw some tortilla chips in there and call it nachos. But itās a good cheesy and I strongly recommend watching it if youāre a fan of Clois.Ā
Iām pretty sure Lois and Clark Clois has spoiled me for most other Clois. Any Lois that it not at least a little bit like L&C Lois just feels wrong to me.Ā
I think itās a big reason why I have such a hard time with the current movie Lois-es. (Iām fine with original movie Lois, cartoon, comics and even Smallville Lois)Ā

Guys theyāre not gonna kill Ava sheās in the finale and Jes is liking tweets about coming back in season 4 so sheās not dead plus the LoT writers have never killed any of the many queer characters theyāve had on their show theyāre not gonna start now. Can we please stop panicking and just enjoy the show? Itās really frustrating and exhausting to see āSheās gonna dieā on so many posts happy about AvaLance and Ava. Can we please stay positive and trust the LoT writers? Theyāve never let us down before.
Karamel Hiatus, week 4: S2 Headcanon.
How did Mon-El find out about Romeo and Juliet?
We all remember that one and only time when Karamel broke up, right? Mon-El, after Kara argues with him, says heās done researches and the āgirl forgives the boyā.. so whereās the connection between that and Romeo and Juliet, you may ask? Well, I personally think heās googled something about āGreatest Love Stories Everā, he saw an article including some rom-comās, tv showsā couples, but also books: he sees Romeo and Juliet at the top of the list, reads a bit of the plot and realizes how much that reminds him of their story, so he notes that title and goes looking for that play in a library and starts reading it, but he stops because, well, drama..and Music Meister whammied Kara. In fact, the episode after the break up (and musical crossover) is the one where he says heās ābeen reading this play..ā, so he had started before things got too complicated. After finishing that, probably in the amount of time between 2x17 and 2x18, Mon-El started the Harry Potter saga on suggestion of both Kara and Winn, and sheās extremely fascinated by his new found passion for literature, and the fact he reads the real morals of it between the lines.

Black Lightning 1x07
1.) I like that Gambi is getting called out on some of his lies that quickly. That said, I love you Black Lightning but sometimes you really have to cool it with the intrusive soundtrack when the song has lyrics.
2.) Poor Lynn, Anissa already with the āyou donāt have superpowers, you are on the outsideā.
3.) Lady Eve has twin enforcers. XD Iām kind of loving all the little underlings the villains have on this show.
4.) I love Lynn and Pierce immediately wondering about Jennifer as well. So, why are you sending Lynn to Gambiās when you just said you donāt trust him anymore?
5.) Anissa is so cute and hyped to take on some badguys. I do think Jeff had a bit of a point to call her out on her not telling the mom the whole story.
6.) āIāll throw him off that bridge when I get to itā XD XD XD Also, Gambi ,Gambi, you evil ass with your ecosystem.Even if Gambiās whole thing were to be that he wants to fuck with the ecosystem by secretly introducing Black Lightning to it, fuck you and the high horse you rode in on to think you can decide over peopleās lives/deciding on your own what the best way or time is to fuck with the ecosystem.
7.) Jeff looks really good in blue. Poor Jennifer, being the last outside the secret.
8.) Seriousy, people look ridiculously good this episode.
Also, yay, Lynn for unintentionally encouraging Thundergrace. Also, awww, Anissa just saying upfront that she is willing to sacrifice her happiness. I do like how the dangers of the job are weaved in organically with what happened to the editor Anissa had been talking to.
9.) Why does Gambi need Black Lightning again?
10.) Poor sad baby Anissa.
Remember when asshole distractors of the show were afraid that she would just be a tough unemotional stereotypical strong(tm) black woman? I like the show doesnāt forget that she is still very young/barely out of being a teenager herself.
11.) The scene where Lynn encourages Jeff to train Anissa because sheās gonna do it anyway reminded me quite a bit of the conversion with Jennifer. Very āokay sheās gonna have sex anyway, letās make sure she uses protectionā.
12.) Tobias the white Whale has a book of Moby Dick on his desk, because of course he has. Love the continuity with Tobias knuckles still being bruised from the cage fight he had earlier.
12.) āThis suit will keep her safeā - āI just hope you are not making my baby a caskettā. So many good lines this episode.
13.) No, not Tobias sister! I liked her!
Very effective scene where Jeff doesnāt want her to die. I will be very surprised though if Lady Eve doesnāt have ābring people back from the dead magic.ā, especially for herself. Loved the song that was playing at the club/during the action scenes.
14.) Loved the conversation between Anissa (who again looked awesome) and Jeff and him owning up to having mae mistakes too. I look forward to their first trainings together, Also of course, yay for Anissa asking Grace out.
15.) Holy fuck that ending cliffhanger. I love my crazy show!

#THIS IS ADORABLE!
